I have been pleased with items I have purchased. One box containing glass bowls were broken in transit but I had helpful response to my e mail and was refunded when DPD returned to John Pye, just a shame they didn’t put fragile on the box as all my other items have been well packed. Have read lots of negative reports here but I have found things fine though I’m not a regular buyer

I won a first auction last week and received the parcel this afternoon to discover the product was broken and the actual product packaging (which wasn't visible from the website listing) states "Refurbished" with a red label "turns off when in use". They sell e-waste without even mentioning it in the listing.

The auction did mention: "retail returns, overstock, ex-display goods" not faulty products.

I also contacted their support which tried to convince me their business is legit. I will do my best to shut them down, the first step it to complain to the Gov authority.

Have purchased online goods from John Pye for about a year and a half now. This is my experience. I have collected and/or had delivery from these 3 depots. South Wales, Marchingdon and Chesterfield. Goods i purchased were brand new from the South Wales and Marchingdon depots and were in perfect condition. Staff were really helpful and turn around for collections was very reasonable. Chesterfield depot however, is the depot i have had issues with. Item not as described, item damaged and/or photo appears to deliberately not show damage on item. The Chesterfield depot also refuses to allow you to leave boxes behind. Most people unbox items to get them to fit into their vehicles. Chesterfield depot makes it really hard and in my opinion, doesn't need to in respects to this issue. Just have a large bin/skip like Marchingdon does. Also please note, the police have been stopping vehicles at the Chesterfield depot, for people overloading their vehicles and having their front passenger side window completely blocked. Please don't do this, you put others and yourself at risk by not having sight out of your passenger window.

The Chesterfield depot is where they mainly sell returns and used products, so i've decided to just avoid buying from there, unless the product is boxed and sealed.

John Pye as a company, i can only go by my experience. They've been fantastic. They collected and fully refunded the total price paid, for a boxed item that was not as in the description. They also fully refunded an item that was damaged in transit.

At the end of the day, it's down to anyone purchasing from there, to make their own decision on whether they want to bid on there. If you do your research and want boxed and sealed items, you can't go wrong here. If you bid on used/returned/damaged items, then it's completely on you if the item is a hit or miss. John Pye, or any auction site for that matter, is not responsible for the condition of any used/returned/damaged items, it's on the bidder to make that call. I would have given 5 stars, but the star deducted is due to the Chesterfield depot. Sorry Chesterfield, but please do better in regards to misleading photo's that do appear to intentionally not show damage and also due to you not having a skip/bin for boxes. Staff here have always been polite though.

I let myself be robbed by a thief wearing white gloves. Example: several pairs of headphones in boxes, all broken, and in one box completely different headphones 😂 no return or warranty, because when I buy from Johnpyeauctions, I am apparently waiving my consumer rights. Money and nerves wasted

It’s a lottery…. I have bought a table that has a leg missing.. useless. The photograph ‘suggests’ it’s complete and the description doesn’t mention it missing. They won’t give me a refund as it’s my fault I didn’t view it personally and was stupid enough to believe their assessment of the item online. .. it’s an online auction site ! It’s false representation and it’s a con. Basically they can show photographs and describe an item, but that doesn’t mean that’s what you’ll receive. Not again, waste of money.

4x I've been to JP Chesterfield and every time I've had to wait over 2 1/2hrs. Infuriating. I drove 90miles then missed all my other appointments including losing some goods because JP made me miss the deadline. No other branch has this issue so why is Chesterfield boss still keeping his job? How hard can it be, you've got 1 job.

One star would be too much to give .DISGUSTING SERVICE , POORLY STAFFED,GOODS CANT BE FOUND , WASTED JOURNEYS . GET A SLOT FOR ONE HOUR , YOU WILL BE WAITING OVER 3 HOURS .

Misleading photos are being used and this leads the buyer to a mis-selling, especially if you are bidding without seeing the lot as many of us do so as we are not living nearby. I won a bid for a 2 piece luggage set as the photos showed however I received only 1 suitcase (which would probably be cheaper to buy somewhere else). So stay away from John Pye, if you don't have the opportunity to see the lot before you start bidding. I think there must be some consequences for these guys as they are using fake photos to describe the items being sold. From buyers perspective they know it's impossible for everyone to go and visit their auctions. If they expected this, there would not be any business for them and this is an online bidding business! So it's a total scam in my eyes. And what will stop you from sending me the wrong item even if I went there and saw the item?

1 lot with two items (bed and mattress)

Delivered the wrong mattress which was part of another lot

Refused to refund the full lot invoice. Collected the wrong mattress and issued 50% refund of invoice.

The bed and mattress were 1 lot. Both should have been collected and refunded as items did not arrive as described.

Absolute s*it show. I’ve ordered alot in the past with items that were as described and in working order but will never order from them again simply because of how they handled this issue.

This way they bring the price up.

Be aware

This auction house sells faulty and broken goods without clearly indicating where items are faulty. Some of their sellers specifically hide defects in the pictures to trick the buyers into buying. Stay away from buying in particular any appliances, electric goods or anything that can be broken/damaged on the sides that are not visible on the picture. Ideally buy if you can inspect in person or be prepared to fully waste your money.

John pye refuse items to be collected since the Covid Scam... they refuse to allow pick up but you can pick Other items that suits them ??.. then when you have a Problem with the delivery they still refuse to Acknowledge they are responsible.
They stall you with excuses and lies.. they are going Through the roof with their business but they don't Care about their customers who have been robbed by Them. They have that power to rip you off as the taxes They pay allow them this power.. beware your items Will go missing and they will blame dpd or even the Buyer.
Before the covid nonsense you could collect these Items but now you can't ever ?? they make more Money and dpd make more money and you have
To accept and pay extra for it.. or you will be blocked By John Pye. The customer service is rude to you for Asking and they will battle with you for asking.
If you do speak to the staff be prepared as that Will leave you with nothing but more anger as they won't Help you. if you want to Stay calm don't speak to this Lot they are only happy To tell you They can't help.. You have zero value to Them as a Paying customer.. They have nothing but contempt Towards you for Asking.. John pye don't Care about their reviews on Here either as there is Nothing but bad reviews.. Some are silly but john Pye could be good if they Operated at a more professional level instead they don't..
Since delivery only they have used their terms and Cons to suit them.. collection is simple delivery is Anything but simple, oh yes they do remove the item In your account also so you have no evidence to back Up your inquiry if you did not take photos or Screenshot them. be careful at John Pye.. they do Get Away with robbing the poor folk that buy from Them And no one at John pye genuinely cares.
The Customers to them are hard work. Works both Ways I'm sure but the lovely customer service staff John Pye just repeat... terms and big CONS !

Be careful with this firm
They put wrong informations on the description. They made me to buy something that they didn't advertised as not working. I spend one day traveling to pick up the purchase and to find out they are broken. I asked for a refund and i was rejected based of some ridiculous excuses, something like we are not a shop and we don't give warranty and because there was open door auction i suppose to check the products before. The products i brought they were with no battery and no charger for them, so you dont know if they work or not. But the products ware not been advertised as not working

Basically, when you bid on something at this companies website, you really need to be aware that items you bidding on will be , part broken, missing, bad condition, many scratches and more. You will get lucky sometimes , with half decent items, but in most cases they hide their real condition , by masking it all, under , ex-display, damaged, returns. They use this description to give you variations, that condition of the item can be any of that, but mostly it is damaged or missing something some times.
I purchased from them scooter, when I went to pick it up, to South Wales department I was waiting in car park, where they sorting these cars for auction in next few days. There was this guy who was lifting cars up with forklift, to put them in places and so on. Like one car I remember was in auction before , in pictures it looked ok and then I saw it in real life with flat tyre and damage that wasn't on picture.
Then I bought cot bed from Derby location, John Pye Auctions, and apparently it was incomplete, was missing the whole actual main bit of bed, what wasn't in description on lot. They listed as Cot Bed , but it was just few parts for it instead, and guess what , No Refunds or anything.
My point is, when you want to buy something here or think you will make a business from this place, be aware that in most cases you won't. If you doubt my experience , please go and see for yourselves as I guarantee , you will see exactly what I just described.
They are purely business based, for their own interest.
Don't be fooled by the idea that they look after customers and are honest about listings.
