Harry at the John Lewis branch in Kingston is incredible! I have followed him to various optician branches and referred family and friends to him. Wherever Harry goes, we will follow.
He specialises in gloucoma for Moorefields eye hospital and is understanding, patient and thorough, We trust him 100% and no other optician will do.
Nadia incredibly helpful, friendly and patient, both go above and beyond. Lovely staff.
Don’t let Harry leave, we’ll be lost without him !
AVOID… service is terrible
AVOID… booked an appointment, arrived at 9:30, the store at Handforth wasn’t open, 15 minutes later they still weren’t open. When they finally opened the first comment from one of the 5 staff stood around the counter was that I was late and needed to rebook. one of the staff noticed I’d been waiting outside and said to do my test when I questioned why… not great service when looking to buy 2 pairs of glasses…
AVOID JOHN LEWIS OPTICIAN LEEDS
I did an eye test and paid £590 for my prescription glasses at John Lewis Optician Leeds on 6/1/2024. Changed my mind and asked for a refund on 7/1/2024. I was told to call the next day on 8/1/2024 because the manager was not on shift. This was of course a BLATANT LIE. I told the male staff member to make a note that I had cancelled the order and wanted a refund. He said he would record my intention and pass on to the rest of the team.
I called on 8/1/2024 and the Assistant Manager tried to VIOLATE and DENY MY CUSTOMER RIGHTS by SHAMELESSLY LYING to me. She said the order of the glasses had been sent to the laboratory to make. I had to remind her that I ordered two nights ago on 6/7/2024 and 7/1/2024 was a Sunday (their laboratory was closed). I also reminded her of my rights to a refund if unsatisfied as stated on my valid receipt and also informed her I would report her to Trading Standards. She immediately changed her AGGRESSIVE TONE and said she would issue the refund but needed me to come in to sign the paperwork.
I went in, signed the paperwork and got my refund. I called again on 13/1/2024 to ask for my pupillary distance and was spoken to in an ABRUPT MANNER by a female staff member. She said it was at the discretion of the optometrist to do so. This was another LIE as the law requires the Optician to do so after conducting an eye test. She recognised my voice and was BITTER and PETTY because I changed my mind and was refunded £590. I still got my pupillary distance elsewhere for free.
John Lewis has exceptional high standards but the staff running their Optician’s in Leeds are DISGRACING the company because they are LIARS, HAVE DEPLORABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AND ARE OFFENSIVEly IMPOLITE AND UNPROFESSIONAL.
I will NEVER return in future.

Dont normally write reviews on here but the service received from this shop is second to NONE. I visited the store on three occasions to get this order 5 , on each occasion, I gave precise instructions for two pairs of glasses i was buying. Three times they came back wrong, it was not difficult Blue for reading Orange for computer work. This was simply changing lenses from one to the other, I understood that the lenses were going into to frameless fixing, I my opinion this should have made it easier, No on my fourth visit they were still wrong, this store is to hung on making money....wont be using them again. need to back to the Drawing board for customer service skills .
Negative customer experience
I recently purchased two pairs of glasses, one for reading and one for distance from the Kingston branch.
On the plus side, I was very happy with the service received from Harry the optician. There is also a good selection of glasses. Sam was also helpful.
On the negative side, I felt that the assistants were rushing and I was served by one lady initially but she then went off to serve another customer and passed me over to another lady to make my selections and process the orders. She then came back to double check the order.
When I went to collect the glasses, both glasses had been processed with reading lenses so one pair had to be sent back. The assistant was not forthcoming with an apology which I found very rude as I then had to make another journey. I wasn’t surprised that an error had been made as she had been flitting from one customer to another instead of focusing on one customer at a time.
Also there were no dusters provided.
I most probably will not use again.

Awful service ever at JL Westfield Stratford! The manager Bozena very rude and not help at all!
I have made a pair of glasses and I've been helped and recommended with frame which didn't fit at all. Looks horrible the frame was in my skin. Went back for exchanged, and been helped by the manager offering me display frame and after almost 3 weeks waiting, | collected them and were awful. Did not fit straight on my face, were one lens up one down, went back, they offered to adjust, still the same issue, again adjust, again back asking for refund, was impossible to ware them, I have express my concern that were display, but the manager was very unhappy and rude she started to talk at the same time I was explain my unhappy experience and not only that, being display and not fit properly, also I have to go there almost like I work in the shop and the response back I have from her, was " doesn't matter "
Really???? It does matter, when you spend £600+ on pair of glasses and you cannot ware coz of the issue I have.
After all adjust (probably 3 -4 times) went back again, coz when I look down, the glasses are coming off. Of course, no help, I did asked for the refund, hasn't been possible, asked for the head office contact details and what I have received, is info email address.
Is this really the email address from the head office? Info???

Very impressed!
We recently used this opticians for the first time and were very impressed. As a family with a variety of special needs we were a little apprehensive but we needn't have been. The Ophthalmologist was very skilled and gave us all the time and support we needed and when the time came to choose frames (from the huge collection) all the assistants were lovely and very professional throughout the process. The ambience of the shop was good also, smart, clean and exclusive feeling. We will definitely return when we need new glasses and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this opticians to all of our friends.
Streamlined eye test
Streamlined eye test with assistant taking on some testing and the optician the main test of eyesight. All staff helpful and accommodating. Clean, modern environment with state of the art testing machines.
I was encouraged to take my time when choosing frames, given diplomatic suggestions and generally encouraged.
Vanisha was professional and clearly an experienced optician. Charleyy was incredibly helpful with choosing frames and calculated the most economical route to purchase varifocal glasses and sunglasses.
John Lewis Opticians - Oxford Street – excellent service
My contact lens had broken and was stuck behind my eyelid. I was in quite a bit of pain. It was the early evening and most opticians had already closed so I went to John Lewis Oxford Street.
At John Lewis Opticians in Oxford Street, Habiba assisted me. She provided me with excellent instructions to remove the broken contact lens. She was professional, very knowledgeable and very helpful. I was very happy with her service - she is a credit to John Lewis!
March 2022 I purchased a prescription…
March 2022 I purchased a prescription glasses in the optician in Edinburgh, I pay for the top lents an and glasses spending over 700 pounds! Unfortunately this year after 1 year and half the frame broke, so I run to the shop where previously they were very helpful! Unfortunately for myself I have this time the worst experience, first 2 blonde lady I believe one with the name of Monica, without checking my record they where try to convince me that the guarantee is only for one year as per the policy of John Lewis! And after me insisting they checked and discover that I was covered! I found them absolutely not focus on customer , I explained that I did not have another pair of glasses and they advise me that to be fixed they need 2 weeks!! They sent my glasses to the lab and guess what? I had to wait for over 2 weeks because they are very busy, they where unable to give me a call to advise that there was further delayed, they where unable to find my glasses once I call the shop, they where trying to justify themself all the time, the finally call me after over 2 weeks and when I get to the shopping, the Monica lady , was very rude and not very customer focus, not even (hello how are you , or did not asked me to try the glasses) Now this is just a suggestion , try to smile to your customer and make eyes contact, and even nice if you can be simply nice , that is what you are paid for! I was very shock because you paid a lot of money and you wait for a better services. Surely I will not get any other glasses in the place! And I will ensure to advise all my colleagues family and friends?
Purchased 2 pairs of Oakley Glasses…
Purchased 2 pairs of Oakley Glasses from here. One pair fell apart after a couple of months. Returned to Edinburgh store where a silver screw was fitted where there was previously a black one to hold lens in place. When glasses fell apart they were damaged as they bounced down a flight of stone stairs. A male member of staff advised I contact Oakley directly to claim on warranty. That process is a total nightmare and technically not my responsibility as my contract is with the store not the brand. Had a nightmare and months of hassle to obtain contact lenses(numerous store visits to chase things upas no one ever calls back) . Staff are absolutely hopeless - probably lack of training is to blame.
I’m giving them one star as the optician was brilliant.

My wife bought my Ray Ban titanium glasses for me for our wedding anniversary. They are fantastic. So comfortable. The staff were great at Oxford St. the price was very fair seeing as a test and extras were included. Will definitely recommend and use again.
Poor Customer Service
1. Poor quality aftercare when collecting glasses.
Invited to attend for glasses on a day the optician was closed, despite website saying it was open.
2. The shop assistant was not going to give me a glasses case for my new £350 glasses until I asked for one. Then she handed me a generic soft case and said this was all they had. No lens cleaner or soft cloth.
3. I was made to stand at the till whilst she tried to fit my glasses- with the full queue building up behind me. When they didn’t fit and sit comfortably she said she couldn’t adjust them anymore for fear she would make the legs bandy. She told me I would just get used to the legs digging in behind my ears.
The new optician feels like it has opened without any leadership. It is understaffed and those present have no awareness of customer relationships.
I ve subsequently been to Specsavers who have adjust and fixed the position of my glasses
They owe me money for refund and they are tricking me and not paying the refund.
I ordered multifocal lenses for my glasses, and the optician said that if I will not be comfortable to wear them, I will be refunded. The lenses indeed did not not fit me, and I asked for refund. I tried to contact the shop, but they are avoiding me, I came several times and was told that "manager is not here" etc. Very unpleasant experience. I will not order anything in this store anymore, and I recommend anyone not to use them.
I went to John Lewis/ David clulow in…
I went to John Lewis/ David clulow in Cheadle expecting the same level of service you would expect to get from John Lewis. I was wrong, I was sold David Clulow branded cheap frames but charged over £500, my local optician charged me £400 and supplied Emporio Armani frames. So far a lense popped out and one side of the frame has become loose. I’ve only had them a month. If I was back in U.K. I would have taken them back. Not up to the same standard as John Lewis at all, won’t go again.
