What a place
What a place. Went to the Cape Weatherspoons in Mold, North Wales, and they didn't know what a St Clements is - it's a cocktail madeup of oranges and lemons. Strange place. I'm never going again
CCTV IN TOILETS !!
On Saturday 1/6/24, I visited the Waterfront Inn, 6-7 Level Street, Brierley Hill, West Midlands, DY5 1UA.
However, I was shocked to see that there was a CCTV camera overlooking the urinals in the gents' toilets, and this disgusted me. I mentioned it to staff, but they did not seem to understand my concerns.
The pub has, in fact, installed CCTV (cameras) in both the male and female toilets, which is a blatant violation of public decency and privacy, and is therefore in the public interest to share. I believe that we have a duty to provide the public with this information.
This is, I have now discovered, also the case in other Wetherspoons pubs. Customers have a right to - and expectation of - privacy in such an area, where they are exposing private areas of their body. Children also use these toilets, which makes it even more disgusting that Wetherspoons has started this highly dangerous and invasive practice.
I submitted a customer service request on their website, but I know from past experience that the brewery never replies to concerns, and this has once again proven to be the case here, even with the e-mail that I sent directly to the CEO.
This is quite serious, due to people's privacy being compromised in what should be an extremely sensitive and private matter, along with their images and likenesses being captured in personal acts.
If it is the case that the pub has had issues of anti-social behaviour etc, then there must surely be workable alternatives to CCTV in a private area. For example, if CCTV is entirely necessary, then it could be installed in the hallway outside the toilets. There are also doormen, so it is not clear why there is a requirement for the invasion of privacy in a sensitive area such as toilets.
I do believe that it is in the public interest for this to be investigated, as it is setting a dangerous precedent in the invasion of freedom, civil liberties, privacy and decency, by the abuse of CCTV.
If this is not reported and shared, then the public is unable to make an informed choice with regards to their venue, and other establishments will start to do the same thing.
Oban
Oban - place almost empty 9am. Ordered breakfast - long wait. When it arrived the only item warm was the sausage. Avoid

Staff on but don’t seem to be working ! Dirty plates and glasses everywhere
Visited the Lister Arms ilkley
Visited the Lister Arms, Ilkley today as a group of three" two of us had chicken boneless baskets with BBQ sauce chips but no coleslaw was very disappointed as told us they'd run out and to make things worse had also run out of salt which 2 of us like & would have wanted with our meal. Felt like it wasn't upto the usual standard.

1 staff member unfortunately needs to change there attitude at the arnold,Nottingham establishment all other staff are so sweet
Crap-Hole / The William Peverel - JD Wetherspoon
I love a trip to the pub, when the first thing you have to do at your table is go to the disgusting toilets to get some dampened toilet tissue to wipe down the table yourself.
Lost count the number of times I have had to do this, I should get staff discount.
To add insult to injury, there’s currently five staff gabbing to each other basically not doing the jobs they are paid for, and the queue at the bar is growing.
If the BBC ever made a faulty towers about a pub, this should be the location.
George is a bully

DANGER: FOOD POISONING - Awful pub with the worst management
The New Crown Pub, Chase Side, London
DANGER: FOOD POISONING
Review update: 15/10/2023
I am updating this review after vomiting and not being able to sleep due to nausea that lasted for hours.
I had dinner on the night prior to this. I am never eating there again.
Review update: 10/09/2023
- No air conditioning. The place is hot and sticky during summer.
- The lighting in this pub is getting dimmer and dimmer because nobody replaces the lights that are either broken and need replacing.
- Dirty tables and chairs.
Same problems as always: Lazy managers, who are always absent, have no intention of fixing such problems.
Unfortunately they are not ready for that conversation.
Review Update: 6/5/2023
Two stars for the positives.
- The drinks are good.
- The food is good.
Knocked off three stars for the following reasons:
The staff are awful. Poorly trained and rude.
There is always new staff here who don't know what they are doing. They never seem to know what drinks to serve.
I'm a regular here. I know what drinks I order for my friends as well as for myself. So whenever I ask for a certain drink they always say "We don't serve that." That's rubbish. Yet they insist that such a drink doesn't exist. This is when I request to speak to the manager since he is more informed of the drinks than the staff. The manager has to intervene to deal with something simple. This has happened several times now. It's ridiculous.
This is because the managers are so lazy they don't bother to train their staff properly.
Poorly trained staff leads to poor customer service.
Sort yourselves out.
Updated review: 6/2/2023
Previously I used to be a regular here because the previous manager did a fantastic job of running this pub efficiently. But now that's no longer the case. Now that the previous manager is gone, whoever this new manager is, is abysmal.
The staff are rude. There is always new staff who are not trained and don't know what they are doing. They are so rude and lazy. Every time I order a certain drink their immediate response is "We don't sell that" and I have to remind them that they do. Whether it's a beer or a cider they claim they don't have it. My friends and I have been buying these drinks in this pub for years. It's clear they can't be bothered to get the drinks or keep the fridges stocked. They constantly complain to me that they have to go "all the way downstairs" to get it. This is not professional customer service. It's disgusting. I do NOT want to hear that when I go anywhere. I don't tolerate such bad attitude.
The service of the food has gone downhill too. As we know, the kitchen closes at 11pm. On two occasions my friends wanted to order some food even though it was before 11pm and the staff would say "No. The kitchen is closed." When in fact it wasn't. Due to such a response we had to complain to the manager who eventually made the staff take their orders. This is not one individual we're talking about here, it's every single staff member who start working here untrained and have the nerve to mistreat customers. Such rudeness from staff is unacceptable. The service has also slowed down. The lack of hospitality here is ruining this pub.
The place is dirty and needs tidying. Nearly every single time I come here there are tables that need cleaning even when the pub is not busy. Another clear indication of the lack of attention from the staff.
They need to sort themselves out because right now things need improving, quickly.
Bring back the old Wetherspoons…
Bring back the old Wetherspoons please!!!!
Had a lovely day in Edinburgh recently with my family and decided to visit the Standing Order Wetherspoons for a nice meal. I have been so many times over the years and never disappointed. What a transformation, portion sizes tiny, I ordered an American burger with chips, arrived like a child’s portion, no joke I had 9 chips on my plate, no side salad, no dressing or onion rings. Lucky if burger was 5cm thick! The rest of my family got similar sparse portion sizes and meals were Luke warm. Customer service appalling, so sorry we had to drag the waiters out of bed to serve us! No smile or gratuity check, even when table eventually got cleared. After the meal we were all still hungry, not good. I will not be visiting again, next time I’ll take my custom elsewhere, pay a bit extra and leave satisfied and ‘full up’ after you should once eaten a meal !!!

Hednesford weather spoons used to be so…
Hednesford weather spoons used to be so good, unfortunately the manager has moved on and a staff member who has worked there for sometime has been put in charge DISASTER. No one seems to know what they are doing or just don't care and he just disappears into private quarters with his dinner or a drink. should be replaced before he closes the place down.
The Hain Line, St Ives..FiLTHY
The Hain Line, St Ives
Filthy Pub! Tables and bar were absolutely disgusting. Staff not in the least bit bothered, soooo slow and scruffy with no idea about hygiene regulations. Miserable and unhelpful. Waited over 20 minutes in a not very busy pub so left without ordering. Put off ordering food by the vile state of the pub! We will never go back to this disgusting embarrassment of an excuse for a public house. Wetherspoons you should be ashamed of yourselves. 🤮
Stansted airport
Stansted airport.
Too expensive for poor quality food and coffee.
Terrible...never again
Good old reliable Wetherspoons Hertford!
What you'd expect from a Wetherspoons.
Reasonable food and drink, at a great price, in a pleasant venue, and convenient location.
Wetherspoons Aberystwyth
Went into Wetherspoons, 'Y D Hen Orsaf' In Aberystwyth and found it to be the worst wetherspoons I've ever been to.
On Mon they had no steak or grilled chicken, Tues they had no steak but did have chicken, which was OK. Wed. I stood at the bar for 10mins. whilst staff were just pouring drinks for what I can only assume were online orders.
I gave up and left.
Tried again on Thurs. and tried to order online but they were out of stock on steaks and chicken again.
My experience of wetherspoons has generally been reasonably good but not at this branch.
Rude, aggressive and confrontational manageress
Rudest, most aggressive and confrontational manageress ever.
Visit An Ruadh-Ghleann almost every Saturday for breakfast with our son, my wife and I are 63 and 65 respectively. Son always asks for a roll instead of toast with Scottish breakfast, this morning manageress told him he'd have to pay extra. When he said that he always had this free, manageress dismissed him, then told cook through the pass that he'd been trying to tell her how to do her job. When our son returned to table and told us, and I looked over at her, she shouted at me from behind the bar "do you have a problem"! When I said I'd like to discuss what happened at our table, she again shouted from behind the bar "come over here if you have a problem"! Very aggressive, very rude, very confrontational, escalated what wasn't even a problem as our son had said it's okay, he'd just stick with the toast. I know you're short of staff but this was appalling behaviour. When my wife asked for her name, she told her she wasn't getting it! Hopefully the in-house CCTV & audio boasted of will reveal what truly happened. Manageress's should know that customers too have the right to be served without being verbally abused.
The pits is too good a word for it!
The outlet at Aberdare, S. Wales should be shut down!
The clientele are foul mouthed, drug users and drunks. The food is stone cold, glasses smelling, tables filthy, and the Staff are oblivious to it all and just get one with it. Fights, drug taking in the toilets are routine here!
The authority in the area should remove the licence, full stop@
Ignorant bar service. Sticky tables. Very noisy.
Spinning Mule, Bolton
3 staff blatantly ignored me tonight stood at the bar for 10 minutes serving new customers arriving at the bar first. I explained this once served but an apology is not enough.
Tables are always sticky and unhygienic.
Not enough room therefore sat on small tables that are left available but people brushing past all the time.
Too loud but that’s the general Wetherspoons ‘atmosphere’.
Cheap beer occasionally but not an environment to enjoy your drink at.
Food and a beer is not good value as it once was.
Would rather pay elsewhere for decent food and drink at better value instead of being stuck here at a noisy unhygienic pub.
