Joke of a company
Joke of a company.
Failed to turn up for mobile tyre fitting of a burst tyre so I had no access to car and live in a remote village. I also explained to them I had a medical appointment that I had to attend the following day.
If they couldn’t turn up and I had known I could’ve organised alternative arrangements.
They offered no support whatsoever and I had to keep chasing for updates on my manager call back.

Why is it so difficult to stop an auto-renewal?
I’ve had Halfords Premium Motoring Club membership for the last two years, and unfortunately I’ve experienced the same problem when trying to stop the auto-renewal.
For the past few weeks I have tried several times to simply turn off auto-renew. The online journey seems to lead you around in circles, the chat gets you nowhere, and trying to get through by phone when the subject is cancellation or renewal has been incredibly frustrating.
Eventually, I selected the option relating to making a new purchase instead and, amazingly, I got through to someone almost immediately.
Even then, I was told that they couldn’t simply switch off my auto-renewal, but they could cancel my Premium membership completely. I still had more than 20 days left on my membership and some unused benefits. I was actually advised to wait until a day or two before renewal to cancel so that I could use the remaining benefits. After the difficulty I’d already had getting through, there was absolutely no way I was going to take that risk, so I asked them to cancel the membership completely.
This really shouldn’t be this difficult.
If a customer can sign up and enable automatic renewal easily, they should be able to switch automatic renewal off just as easily. Customers shouldn’t have to navigate dead ends, unsuccessful chats and phone menus just to prevent another year's payment.
I’ve experienced this problem two years running now. Whatever the intention behind the system, the customer experience when trying to stop auto-renewal is extremely poor and needs to be fixed.
