Well inpressed. Gordon.…

We have had this freesat box for 4 weeks or so, it is performing very well. The picture quality seems better than the sky Q the we had previously that got to expensive just to watch repeats. The recording process is just as good. Very impressed up to now.

Yet again I have no signal on Freesat…

Yet again I have no signal on Freesat so I cannot watch tv. I rang Freesat to find out why this happens several times a week but the person I spoke to "couldn't really say". I have reached the end of my patience with this rubbish equipment and even worse customer service ( what a misnomer!)
I have just ordered an EE TV box and signed up for a 6 month trial. If you are thinking of switching to Freesat I would say DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I have had a year of frustration, missing programs, programs not being recorded or I only get sound and no vision on the recordings. I thought I was saving money leaving Sky to use Freesat but it has been a fiasco and I am going back to paying monthly for a fit for purpose service.

Useless freesat

Their remote is problematic, transmit to box unreliable. EPG fails to load completely. Every time box is turned on from standby keep being told to wait while box is setting up sat dish. Had lnb upgraded and dish checked for alignment, channels 200&201 unavailable. Box intermittently turns off in the middle of streaming. No separate folders when saving a program.
Overall wish l had never brought one.
Customer service agents are useless, main answer if there is a problem with the box is a reboot.
Sent first box back as advised faulty box, git a replacement same problems.
Maker of box needs to sort software out if they are capable.

Slow delivery with no updates and powerless call centre staff

I ordered a refurbished box in early July that was advertised as 2-3 day shipping. After several calls and emails I was only told it would be “as soon as possible”. It arrived 20 odd days after ordering. Despite having been told I would get a shipping notification, the first I knew about it was when I had an email from DHL saying a parcel was on it’s way.

The box looks pretty much perfect and it saved me a few ££ buying a refurbished box. It didn’t have the latest software on it, like they said it would, even though that came about eight months ago. However the box auto updated the same day.

Why the setup process and paperwork still talks about having a freesat account to remotely control the box when this functionality was removed well over a year ago too seems to make no sense.

From the shipping details it looks like freesat use a third party shipper. So they are either not managed well, or not paid enough to do what they need to do. Considering when I saw the other day most new boxes are out of stock, I can’t imagine they are busy shipping things as there is nothing to ship!

Don't buy a box off them

Still waiting for 2 boxes. No phone calls back. Plenty of chat conversations saying someone will phone back.
Ordered on the 9th July still nothing. Worst company ever to deal with

Ordered A Week Ago Still Not Dispatched

Ordered 2TB box a week ago, no box received, I’ve contacted their customer services 2 times, all they say is “we having issues dispatching orders”. It’s been a week and it’s not even been dispatched!

Freesat not in the least bit interested. I feel like I interrupted their tea break!

Taken money without supply of goods

Made the mistake of not checking reviews before I placed an order with this absolute joke of a company. Order placed last week. Despite them taking payment from my card, no booking email sent to me. Resulting in three phone calls to their customer services department who have absolutely no record of my booking despite taking my money. Dispute lodged with Visa. These are absolute scammers or incompetent at the very least. Be aware.

Bought a freesat recordable box

Bought a freesat recordable box, was ok for a while under very little use,then things started going wrong with the hard drive shortly after the warranty expired. I had heard later that the hard drive only lasts a couple of years, which is ridiculous after having paid over £200 for it. I then contacted freesat and got little help from them other than them telling me to buy a new box or a new hard drive. Given the cost, I think a freesat box is not a good investment for the short lifespan.

Save your money it's a corporate fraud…

Save your money it's a corporate fraud masquerading as a TV provider now constantly crashing and rebooting box to get even 'live' streaming and even then struggle to get sound let alone picture and if you want to prerecord something for later viewing forget it unless you like reading 'system failure' messages! Their big USP was a one off payment for a box plus dish if you don't have one and the ability to watch/record up to 4 channels with no heavy monthly D/D costs the old adage if it's too good to be true applies to Freesat they've got your money and that's it as far as they're concerned bite the bullet and and go to someone who cares about their customers

FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE BAD 😔

Was quite excited to be setting up my new Freesat Box today. But excitement quickly turned to disappointment upon discovering that the ability to set-up recordings via their mobile app was no longer possible. And this is despite the marketing materials promoting this functionality, the manual inside the new box saying it was possible, and the mobile app description in Apple's App Store also still stating this. If they made this obsolete last year, then why haven't they removed this information from all of their materials? Unbelievably lazy...and at worst, false/misleading advertising. Also why you'd want to discontinue this kind of function in today's modern digital age is beyond me. Anywho, for an expensive piece of kit, this is super disappointing. For goodness sake, bring back this functionality 🙏

Don't waste your money!

The present 4k freesat system which was down loaded in october 2024 is terrible and they're sitting in denial! Unless you have to due to reception of Freeview I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole with it's present operating system

Awful its not worth it

Awful its not worth it. Have had the Arris 2TB 4K freesat box for over 3 years, initially the box was alright not as fluid or functional as Sky Q. You could record & remote record with the app with few issues. The user interface was alright & got the job done, 4k picture useless over hyped best leaving box set at 1080p as chipset not up to up-scaling. However over time & especially recently the box is awful with the new appalling updates. The app is now useless & remote record has gone, you could never control the box with the app. Every time the box comes out of standby its searching for satellite & channels, no longer switches the TV to its signal on HDMI. Slow & sluggish interface that now forces 4K on you which gives worse picture quality. Have to reboot box numerous times to get sound & sometimes picture. Failed recordings or half recorded programme, something went wrong. Freesat customer service not interested, have given up on the product in my opinion & now just trying to offload remaining product they have.

Rubbish product/ Good customer service

First off the experience with the actual box and using it. I have to say, it’s awful.
Slow, unresponsive, poor interface, useless remote that just lags. It might be a free service, but it’s so frustrating to use after coming from sky Q, which actually works. So after having it for a day I sent the box straight back and plugged sky back in.
Although the thing is an absolute pile of crap, I can’t fault the customer service I got. They accepted my request to return without trying to make it hard, and after I sent it back they refunded me within a couple of days. So pretty damn good customer service in my experience.

Shame the thing is a pile of poop when you use it .

Freesat UHD4X500 box two years old and…now going for my 3rd HDD replacement

Freesat UHD4X500 box two years old and HDD failed. I bought a new HDD identical in model no. and replaced it two weeks ago - it’s gone again. I contacted freesat and all they could suggest was to buy a new box ( after usual “suggestions”, which had of course already been tried many times). My parting message was “Bring back Humax”. I have 2 13-15 year old Humax Foxsat boxes and they are still going. Terrible box, uncaring company

Finally given up with freesat following…

Finally given up with freesat following the software upgrade in October. They don’t seem to be resolving the issues experienced by many users. A frustrating GUI that worked when it felt like, setting up satellite, etc. Now have Sky stream, works great and has a GUI that works.

Utter junk!

I agree with every negative review about the utterly useless software update in late 2024. Does nobody test beta versions at Freesat? Also, every TV and Radio company, including Freesat, has a downloadable and easy to use IOS app. Freesat’s doesn’t really download and won’t let me login or re-register even though my username and password are correct. Utter junk!
