We visited Evans Halshaw in Chester, with a view to buying our fifth Ford Focus. We were dealt with by Phil Holding who was extremely pleasant, helpful and efficient in helping us to find a car which met the sort of requirements we had. We also got a decent trade in price for our previous Ford Focus. We were able to collect the car the following day. We would certainly recommend Evans Halshaw at Chester.

Never buy a car from here they are a joke, I buy a car, it has faults, they wont fix the faults, claim theres now faults. I reject the vehicle and they then no longer want to help me when its concerning my old car and then to find out they haven't sent off a new log book and im not the keeper of the car ....

My mum purchased a 71 plate Nissan Juke from there a few months ago, and unfortunately, it’s been a very disappointing experience. The car has developed several issues, starting just one month after purchase. Despite taking it back multiple times, we’ve been told there’s “no problem found” each time.

We’ve contacted the dealership repeatedly, but their response has been unhelpful and dismissive. They’ve refused to offer a refund or exchange, claiming the matter is out of their control—even though the faults appeared well within the early ownership period.

The level of customer service has been extremely poor; emails often go unanswered, and we’ve had to chase multiple times just to get a reply. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise others to be cautious and look elsewhere before buying from this dealership.

Made enquiry, then it immediately sold. Did I get a common courtesy email to tell me? No I didn't.

We have recently bought a car from Evans Halshaw in Chester . James Carr oversaw our purchase which turned out to absolutely seamless. He was prompt, efficient and courteous, dealing with all our queries including organising the transfer of the car from another location. Even though he said he was still learning his job we were confident from the outset that we were in good hands.Thank you James for all you did, we are thrilled with our new car !

Very disappointed- I traded my car in on 30 July expecting the finance to be settled within a couple of days.

They sold my car on to another dealer who then somehow managed to get a settlement quote without my knowledge. The finance wasn’t settled until 22 August which meant I had to pay another month’s finance on a car I no longer owned.

I had received notification from DVLA that I was no longer responsible for the car, but as the finance had not been settled I was still responsible for the repayments. It also meant that the value I had for my trade in was reduced.

I have called and emailed Ford repeatedly, they keep promising to get back to me but no one does. I now have no option but to go the ombudsman, which I really do not have time to do!! Very disappointing customer service.

Also when I picked up my brand new car it was covered in scratches - they promised to rectify this but again nothing has been done about it.

Phillip holding was are salesman,in all the years we have bought cars from different dealerships he has been the most helpful.He went out of his way to be most helpful and tips about the keyless car we purchased.i would highly recommend him to anyone well done Phil five stars ⭐

Jason, Chelsea and Phil were a fantastic team at Chester. They were really welcoming and patient as we could only get there late but still made the time for us. They were efficient as we had the car within two days.

Very reassuring, professional and helpful service. Initial phone enquiries were handled promptly and great advice given. There was no pressure. On day of collection, staff were courteous and attentive. There was a lot of information to process and Phil and Sophie went through everything with me patiently and methodically. Absolutely Disgusted with Evan’s Halshaw Chester! Misled and Wasted 7 Hours of My Life!

**Having to repost again because a month later Evan’s Halshaw reported my review for hate speech**

I found an Audi A6 Black Edition (Reg: BK18EHN) listed online at Evan’s Halshaw Chester, low miles, good spec, looked great. I live 176 miles away, so I called and spoke to a salesman named Phill to ask him to do a proper, honest check of the car before I committed. I asked him to confirm the service history, especially the S tronic gearbox, check for any dents, scuffs, scratches, poor repairs, rust anything I should know and also to inspect the driver’s seat bolster too. He agreed to send detailed videos of the car inside and out, including close-ups of every panel.

The videos he sent looked promising, only a small scratch and a minor dent were shown (he even said he’d try to have them removed). Based on that, I bought the car online for £14.3k and planned to collect it in person rather than have it delivered.

After a 176-mile drive (3 hour drive there), I arrived to find the car sat outside with an enormous scuff down the side rear quarter panel along to the front passenger door, that somehow didn’t appear in any of Phill’s videos. It took me 10 seconds to spot it, but he somehow “missed it” and claimed it showed up after a polish (which the car clearly hadn’t had, the paint felt rough, unpolished, and not even decontaminated with a claybar) bearing in mind little did he know I detail cars in my spare time and owned a heavily modified showcar.

I then inspected the rest of the car and found Poor, amateur repair work on both sides of the rear bumper with lacquer peeling and clear overspray with tape lines. Also Overspray on the rear diffuser. A bubbling patch on the driver’s door (potential rust) and Paint cracking near a scratch that was shown in the video but suspiciously didn’t manage to show the cracking in paint on front bumper!

So now I’m looking at a car that needs work on the side skirt, rear bumper, front bumper, and possibly the door! none of which I was shown or told about. When I raised this with Phill, his only defense was “it’s a used car.” Yes, it is used but this is abused. There’s a massive difference. He the proceeded to try tell me he used to work in factory building brand new cars and that I would be surprised what gets released into the public and tried to said that is how the car must of come out the factory and that the rear bumper hasn’t had a repair, I can tell you now there is no way on this earth Audi would of passed this paint work and released this car.

I was then offered a half-baked solution! drive the car away and get my local Evan’s halshaw branch near me to fix some of the issues but not all. Completely unacceptable. I refused the car and requested a refund.

No apology. No accountability. Just an attempt to push me into driving off the the forecourt with a car in worse condition than described, hoping I’d just deal with it later. Disgraceful.

End result, I wasted an entire day, 350 miles, fuel costs, and paid a friend who lost a day’s work to drive me there all because Phill either didn’t check the car properly or deliberately avoided showing the real issues, possibly because I originally said I’d have it delivered.

Avoid Evan’s Halshaw Chester at all costs. They’ll happily waste your time, mislead you, and then hide behind the “used car” excuse to cover up serious condition issues. Truly appalling experience.
