Corrupt and incompetent - avoid at all costs
Avoid this place like the plague.
I'm currently going through formal complaints procedures through the government about Digby Brown - including a conduct complaint about one of the Partners for gaslighting me & altering evidence.
After repeatedly trying to resolve issues directly, I had to make a complaint through DB's formal process.
Mere hours afterwards, Head Office finally gives me access to my case file (late) & whilst it took me months to notice, I've seen they've went ahead & altered the EXACT email exchanges on my case file where I accuse them of gaslighting. The senior staff here have altered it to make it look like a misunderstanding rather than outright gaslighting. I even warned Catherine Hart from Head Office in my initial request about manipulating/concealing data, yet they went ahead & done it again - altering my case file this time to cover up their misconduct (I sadly have zero ways of knowing what other ways they've altered or sabotaged my case file, nor do I know what "version" they've given the regulatory bodies yet).
The complaints process was a complete waste of time & clearly there to avoid accountability. Every chance I gave them to act more professionally was simply spat back at my face from senior staff behaving like high school bullies. Originally I was meant to receive a reply to my complaint within 7 days but had to submit an additional complaint around day 13 because the complaints manager, Robert Kernaghan - another Partner of Digby Brown, needed me to micromanage him too.
Even when he did muster a response, he went out his way to avoid mentioning the gaslighting at all - only doing so vaguely after I got too confrontation. Robert Kernaghan was even trying to get his firm paid for the way they treated me. Wanting paid for: acting against my instructions, against my best interests, altering evidence, playing mind games with me & being completely unable to meet the most minimal standards imaginable. After promising to "take complaints seriously", all he done was desperately try to avoid accountability at all costs. Either he failed to notice his colleagues alterations or was actively covering up for him (I'm leaning towards the latter after learning they worked alongside one another at the same base for years).
I'm now no longer able to make a claim due to the issues caused by Digby Brown. I was in a no-fault car accident with endless supporting evidence, a case that even a trainee should have been able to handle, yet now I'm unable to claim at all whilst getting told I've been screwed out of well over £100k and even having to declare bankruptcy with Citizen's Advice because I couldn't hold of my financial difficulties any longer after over 3 years.
Like me, you'll just be subjected to an endless list of issues from the most senior staff: grandiose fake promises, not willing/able to abide by regulations & standards, unable to tell the truth, unable to manage their own workload, weeks - sometimes months - were going by without any effort being put into my case when simple templates emails could have been sent, they couldn't even adhere to the guidelines set out by the Data Protection Act (companies like McDonald's are expected to handle, but it's somehow beyond the capacity of Digby Brown's best and brightest).
With diagnoses like PTSD, I was the exact sort of vulnerable client these guidelines were created to protect but instead these vulnerabilities were exploited by Digby Brown's most senior staff. Like me, you'll be the one suffering the consequences whilst they prioritise their own greed and egos at every turn.
There is zero reason any legitimate law firm would want staff that gaslight clients, alter evidence or who are unable to do their most minimal duties (i.e. a complaints manager that can't read complaints).
Altering evidence is the exact sort of thing that will completely dismantle your case. If this is how the Partners behave, then those under their supervision will be no better.
Please avoid this place at all costs.
In addition to not being able to claim & having to declare bankruptcy, I am also going to be following this up for years.
Due to my own field (psychology), I'm obligated to see this through to the bitter end. Still have to wait before I can contact a 3rd regulatory body, having to draft a letter to my MP, having to take legal action against Digby Brown & will also be making sure you read about this in the papers ASAP. An endless list of responsibilities and consequences you do not want.
I'll be doing everything in my power to expose the systematic corruption here to the public, politicians & legal but in the meantime, please look after yourselves and seek help elsewhere.
The people at Digby Brown are purely out for themselves & you don't want them anywhere near your wellbeing

Your suggestion that Digby Brown did not act in your best interest is nonsensical. We act on a no win, no fee basis and pride ourselves on client care. We rely on succeeding with cases and fight tirelessly for every client - helping thousands of people who have had something bad happen to them.
It is of vital importance that we maintain a good client solicitor relationship with clients. In your case this broke down irretrievably. The language you have used in your review here contain sweeping generalisations which are entirely unfounded. You are however correct that we had zero reason to gaslight you. We did not.
As you know, the Law Society has recommended dismissal of your conduct complaint and that has clearly prompted your review.

Digby Brown support with claim
Digby Brown supported me to make a claim following a bus accident that left be concussed, bruised all over and in terrible pain. Subsequently, I experienced post traumatic stress. My solicitor loaded with Lothian buses who accepted liability for what happened to me. I felt supported by Digby Brown solicitor through the whole claim process. You dont need to be directly hit in an accident u could even be run off the road without collusion.
