The preparation takes a while but we received clear instructions. On the day of treatment the team arrived and cracked on. We had to be out of the house for a while but all good.

I have never asked for your company giving a 6 months guarantee without a room not being heated! It was your consultant Gareth who first suggested it over the phone call!

I am not sure if I am allowed to forward my full email correspondence to the readers here as evidence -- in my email enquiries, I was just trying to ask the policy clearly. The charge is HUGE. And before I know your answer of whether a guarantee could be granted, you said I would need to find another company! Don't trying to confuse readers here please!

I am now even more frustrated as you twisted my words written in the email. I would have given NEGATIVE -1 star if Trust pilot have allowed me to do so!

I promise I will provide updates here if your replies are still misleading.

I sent a few emails to ask about the details of treatment, including how to kickstart the 6 months guarantee. I came across a comment here saying that the process couldn't be activated even when live video or photos were taken. The manager of this company then asked me to liaise with other companies !

If a company is not confident and professional in answering customers' enquiries, one may reconsider if you should rely this company to take care of your house.

Not quite sure what you are saying, but if you had a heat treatment of all bedrooms and lounges, as you know you have a six month guarantee if it's not worked on production of the evidence of live activity you mention. Just send that in to info@cimexine.com in the first instance please.

UPDATE: We have investigated this. As it turns out, we did not carry out a heat treatment for this customer, rather liaised over a lengthy period by both phone and email explaining the process. The problem here is that the customer has a piano in the lounge. We can only issue a six month guarantee if we heat all bedrooms and lounges. We can't heat rooms with pianos in, because the heat could damage the internal workings of it. The customer was only interested in booking if we could offer a guarantee of all the other rooms. This puts us in a difficult position, as if we don't heat treat the lounge and it has bed bugs in it, these would quickly be transferred back to the bedrooms. Heat treatment is not cheap, and rather than lead the customer up the garden path, we were open and honest that while we could heat treat three of the four rooms, we could not therefore offer a full heat treatment guarantee and that she may be best looking for a company prepared to offer what she insisted on. Rather than a one star review, this should be a five star review for transparency, openness, professionalism and honesty.
UPDATED UPDATE: Gareth did indeed, as he promised, ask operations if they were prepared to offer a guarantee if the lounge wasn't heat treated Wynne. The answer was a 'no' (a chemical guarantee could be offered which is not what you wanted or needed). You, understandably given the money involved, wanted a guarantee that rooms would be heat treated under warranty. We could not offer that for the reasons above and as such did not want you to book in and then be disappointed or to fall out with you down the line. It is important to us that no-one is booked in under false pretences. We therefore recommended you look for a company that will do that. Hopefully you find one; unfortunately operations were not prepared to offer that, and under those circumstances we were unwilling to book you in because you could have been disappointed down the line. If you think that is a -1 star service that is your prerogative. If you would like a further explanation, which will help you understand fully the position we were placed in here, please email Gareth directly at gareth@britishbugcontrol.com . You may be surprised and you may re-evaluate. Or you may not. In the end of the day we are in the business of helping people, and we were unfortunately unable to help you to the level you required in this case and we were and are honest about this and will continue to be.

Gareth and the team were very clear and patient as we discussed and asked a lot of questions! On the day, the team who came to our house were diligent and thorough, explaining the whole protocol of what was required. We are only a few days post treatment but we are looking forward to a bug free house. We especially appreciated the technical report afterwards to show the work carried out. Highly recommended company.

Expert, helpful, efficient and excellent communication

We contacted Cimexine as we thought we had an infestation of bedbugs. We received expert, friendly and clear advice and guidance on how to proceed

At the same time we sent the bugs we had found for analysis. On the day Cimexine received the samples they contacted us by return to confirm that they were not bedbugs but another species

Both Cat and Colin were extremely helpful and responsive to all our questions and their expertise and efficiency saved us a lot of expenditure and inconvenience

Two-tier Business Trick

This company claims to be able to eliminate bedbugs, but in my experience, they did not deliver on their promise. I opted for their standard service, which involves using insecticide to treat the entire property as per their recommendation. However, three weeks after the initial treatment by their expert, I still had bedbugs. There was no communication from the company regarding follow-up treatments or further advice. It seems they focus on quick, cheaper options without ensuring effectiveness.

Another issue that left me feeling dissatisfied was the company's warranty practices. They offer two kinds of treatments: insecticide and heat, but the warranty is only provided for the more expensive heat treatment (10 times more expensive). This felt like a misleading practice. The standard insecticide treatment, which I opted for, does not come with any guarantee or follow-up plan, and they charge for every subsequent visit without offering a clear course of action. When I raised these concerns with Mr. Collin, the company's representative, he insisted that the terms were transparent, but in reality, they were unclear to me, leaving me feeling misled.

I have a pressing question for Cimexine: if the company only stand behind the heat treatment with a guarantee, then why does it offer insecticide treatments at all? This raises concerns that the company might prioritize making money over effectively resolving the bedbug problem. It seems that they are more interested in upselling the more expensive heat treatment rather than providing the most effective solution for the customer.

We take objection to this one-sided review. We are very clear that only heat treatment can be guaranteed during the consultation process, and we are very clear on why. This is because the heat penetrates the nooks and crannies of the rooms and the furniture in those rooms, and that is where the bugs hide… and just as importantly where the eggs are. It’s the dry heat that kills the bugs and the eggs in situ. Insecticide doesn't do this, which is why no-one can, or should offer a guarantee for insecticide treatments for bed bugs (because you can't). These insects are nocturnal and you are relying on the residual left behind by the insecticide; and on the insects coming out over the residual while it's still strong enough to kill them (hit and miss); you are also relying on the eggs all hatching and the nymphs coming into contact with the residual while it's still strong enough to kill them (hit and miss); and you are also relying on the strain you are dealing with not being resistant to the best residual insecticides we can buy - impossible to know before treating. However it can work, and does sometimes work, particularly it we catch it before there are eggs stages, and if the customer is prepared to do what is needed - the correct prep and the correct post treatment behaviour (continue to sleep in the problem rooms, no hoovering for two weeks). It was clearly explained to you that you may need multiple treatments. This was again explained when you called us today. You simply don't know if insecticide will work or not unless you try and not all customers want to (or can) go for heat treatment first time, which is much more expensive, but comes with a 24-week guarantee. We listen to Colin all day every day discussing bed bug issues and he makes all of this very clear. However we understand that things can get lost in translation (or forgotten). We think your final paragraph is terribly untrue and unfair to be honest, given that we are actually in the business of trying to help people and have been specialising in bed bug eradication for over a decade. Having said that, we accept that you clearly think otherwise and will not listen to our advise, and we also accept that you will be frustrated that you still have this insect problem after having a treatment. Colin will be calling you today to discuss.

Great experience

All i can say is that this company were professional from start to finish. It was a seamless exercise in what can be a stressful environment with vulnerable people. They were great communicators and explained the process from start to finish. I cannot recommend their services highly enough. Thank you to all the team

We are so upset with this company

We are so upset with this company. We have used them before (2 years ago) and thought we were a loyal customer as they were incredible but in January this year we have had a nightmare. They came round quickly to do the heat treatment (nearly £1,000) but 2 weeks later we had loads of bites (especially on my 7 month year old baby). We were told to get a photo of the bed bug and we eventually got a photo on our sofa, and they replied ‘that’s not a bed bug’ when it is the same shape, size and is identical to a bed bug. We have seen them before and have the exact bites. We know what a bed bug looks like.

We also went to our vet to check if they were fleas but our cat was checked and was fine and we have strict medication. They are now sending sticky monitors but everyone knows they don’t work. We had bed bugs before and they never went in the traps or monitor. We have sent a photo as per the warranty and they are not coming back to get rid of them. They are doing everything they can to not fulfil the warranty.

I’m on maternity and am getting bitten every two days and am so upset that I have been robbed. Normally I write good reviews for good companies, but I am so devastated and don’t recommend this company. I remember seeing the bed bug people throwing lots of things in our bathroom too, so they missed the heat treatment.

I am happy to delete this review if we get the problem sorted but I’ve had no choice but to put this on here

Please could you email us your post code as we have no-one of your name on the system. The admin team who are in today have checked all emails for your name too with no luck. Could it have been booked under another name or be another company? We certainly don't 'do everything we can' to not fulfil the terms of the warranty, that our ethos at all, but operations do need photographic evidence of a live bed bug after the 14 day settling in period to activate retreatment free of charge as i am sure you can understand (and which you signed as agreeing to before the treatment). Anyway please email info@cimexine.com so we can move this forward with you.

NEW UPDATE: It's now been ten days since we replied to this review and asked Susi Thomas to contact us at the office. This hasn't happened. We have requested that she sends us information about who she is through the Trust Pilot platform, because as per the reply above, we have no customer of that name on our system. The Trustpilot platform gives her three days to reply. Outside of this there is nothing more we can do.

It's now 8.39am Saturday 04/11. Please check your junk folder. Please respond to her email and she will action Monday. We all use the product, including Cat and her family. They are usually very good and very effective and we sell thousands of them. They usually last for years. We've been having them made for bed bug and allergy problems since 2013. They also protect the mattress underneath from spillages and keep it looking new. Yours is clearly faulty - it can happen - and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know as it's important we find these things out.

Thank you for your feedback, which we find very surprising. You don't need to send the product back, just provide pictures illustrating these issues. These will help us with the manufacturer as this sounds like a faulty item. Everyone in the office uses the product in our homes on all of our beds and none of us have had the above issues so apologies for this. You should have been offered a full refund or a new product.

PS As per the instructions the product must not be washed at over 40 degrees and is designed to stay on the bed long term to protect the mattress and person sleeping on it, not be taken off regularly.

Disappointed: Still bitten after heat treatment. The warranty it was sold with wasn’t useful for us

Heat treatment to eradicate bed bugs with 26 week warranty purchased at a total cost of over four figures from this company.
Following the heat treatment we continued to experience bug bites in our beds. When purchasing, I interpreted the warranty to mean that the company would come and re-treat our property if we continued to experience biting from bugs in bed following the initial heat treatment. This was not the case.
I explained to the company that we had a poorly elderly bed bound person living in the property so eradication was a real priority for us. Despite numerous calls, emails, photos of bug deposits on bedding over the course of two and a half months following treatment, the company refused to revisit the property to re-treat nor did they visit to investigate or confirm whether the bed bug infestation had remained. The company instead sent us bed bug sticky card monitors which weren’t very effective. They tested samples that we sent to them via post and said that they found no evidence of bed bugs.
Three months after treatment, we continued to suffer with bites from bugs that we had entrusted this company to resolve. We faced further costs to resolve the problem.
A warning:
Be mindful that the heat treatment may not resolve your bed bug infestation and you may therefore continue to experience biting.
Be clear that you understand what the company asks before they invoke the warranty. In our case, they insisted on evidence of a live bed bug, not evidence of biting or deposits of bugs but they wanted evidence of live bed bugs.

If you have produced photo or video evidence that you have bed bugs as per the terms of the treatment and warranty (which were clearly explained to you before you booked and which you will have signed), we always re-treat free of charge, until the issue has gone. 'Deposits of bed bugs' could be anything, and could be nothing at all to do with bed bugs, and bed bugs are not the only insect that bites. You have posted under the name 'A Dissatisfied Customer'. Heat treatment for bed bugs

After having the absolute nightmare of bed bugs I was so glad to have the excellent service I recieved from British bug control. Joe and James came to do a heat treatment for the whole house and were so helpful in answering my questions and putting me at ease. I am now 14 days after the treatment and am able to be sleeping better and even though I am still checking my bed , I feel much more at ease that this treatment worked. So I would not hesitate in recommending this company. Heat treatment is expensive but for peace of mind and just getting your life back to a sense of normality I would 100 % recommend. Thank you !

I came back from a Christmas holiday…

I came back from a Christmas holiday with bugs in my suitcase, I was getting bit every night for a month,I tried every product, rentokil,zero in,vetinary product containing cypemthrin, nothing worked, I washed the carpets and bedding hot a brand new bed,still got bit,I went online and found this company bought a spray bottle and within 3 hours I was bug free .Definitely stick with this company product they actually work

Highly recommended

Highly recommended: Great company and products. The mattress encasements are also very good quality, great value and are washable at 60 degrees Celsius that is essential for bed bugs to be killed. There are other makes/brands that are cheaper but a false economy as they are only washable at 40 degrees Celsius or lower, and poor quality, and thereof a false economy. Fantastic customer service - I had a problem with an encasement and a replacement was sent out straight away.

IF i get a call back and some help, i may change my review. i fell about this review site and read all the stars from 4 down. and as i had experienced 2 faults with this company, i thought i would post

like some posters experienced, i too, do not get call backs as to what went wrong.ie ive never called in in the first place, Which is untrue.

what really decided me to post, a person had heat treatment and more and was still getting bitten. this company said no more treatments, we want to find a live bug, and gave him free bed bug monitors

my problem is these do NOT work. So really this other guy got ripped off as there was no bugs in their monitor system I buy my top up etc. The now bedbugs i got went under THE BED BUG CONTROLLER, NOT IN IT.ie between the bed slates and the box. And were under the mattress protecter and mattress. JUST CRAWLING AROUND. not one bed bug was in the controller.

So i feel this guy got ripped off for his heat treatment. I feel i got ripped off, as these boxes do not work. 2 bug firms have confirmed its bed bugs and so has the council environmental health.

Unless i get a satisfactory answer as to what went wrong i am thing of sueing. As i might need to close my business down

Heat treatment worked when nothing else did

I had no idea we still had bed bugs in the 21st Century, let alone how prevalent they are. I have spent just one night away from home in the last 7 years as I am chronically ill, and brought bed bugs home with me in my suitcase from a London hotel.

I noticed increasing numbers of bites on my legs and torso and woke in the middle of the night to find a bug staring at me from on top of the duvet. It was then I learned about bed bugs and was absolutely horrified. The thought of nocturnal creatures injecting me with anaesthetic then feasting on my blood still gives me nightmares. It was particularly distressing as I am largely bedbound due to my health.

I tried all the home remedies. I spent 12 hours stripping the bed, washing at 60C and tumble drying everything on a hot heat. I steam cleaned the mattress, bed frame, furniture and my wooden floors. Then sprayed everything with bed bug spray from B&Q containing cypermethrin. I encased the mattress in a bed bug encasement. I used pest grade diatomaceous earth powder around all the skirting boards and sockets, on the bed frame, and finally placed the bed feet in tubs with DE powder in. I was convinced I’d sorted the problem. That night I had 4 more bites and continued to be bitten for the next week. I even found an adult bed bug in a wax candle on my landing and was totally freaked out they had invaded the whole house. The night I woke at 3am, pulled back the duvet and found 2 more bugs crawling on my legs nearly gave me a nervous breakdown. When you read online that bed bugs are incredibly difficult to get rid of, it’s fact.

I got Rentokill out to spray. Two weeks later I was still being bitten.

I initially enquired with Rentokil about their heat treatment, which uses a tent within the room. They totally tried to rip me off, quoting nearly £3000 then bringing that down immediately to £1900 when I gasped! Still a total con though compared to what Cimexine charge for whole room treatments, which are much better in any event.

I contacted Cimexine regarding their heat treatment. Someone was supposed to ring me back, but after 4 days I’d heard nothing so had to ring again which was disappointing considering how utterly distressed I was.

I live in the north of England, so the work was contracted to a firm in Nottingham. I spoke to Ryan who was very helpful. I sent him a photo of the bug I’d found in the candle and he confirmed it was a bed bug. I’d also found 6 smaller bed bugs in a tub of hair wax on my dressing table, proving they weren’t just in the bed!

Then coronavirus hit and we entered lockdown. I was distraught thinking nothing would be done for months, but was assured Cimexine were working as normal and the lads arrived within 48 hours to heat treat. They felt like the cavalry!

There is a LOT of preparation needed, so I suggest you do this before booking the treatment as it takes time. I’d bought plenty of large bags for bedding etc., which all had to be washed and tumble dried again, and some XXl ziplock bags for cosmetics, medication, liquids and other things which might be affected by high heat and need to be moved to another room.

As I was classed as vulnerable to Covid-19, I was reassured the workmen would be wearing gloves and masks as they were entering my home during the pandemic. This didn’t happen and meant I had to disinfect the whole house after they’d gone, which was yet more work when I’m unwell and was utterly exhausted. I am still very grateful they turned up at all though.

I didn’t realize “residuals” would be needed on top of the heat treatment or how liberally they would be used, though I do understand the reasoning behind it. They do have to move things round during the heat treatment, so the room did look a bit like it had been ransacked and there was quite a bit of sorting out to do afterwards.

As the treatment is very expensive I did think there would at least be a follow-up phone call to ask how things were or if the treatment had gone OK, so was disappointed this didn’t happen. It was during lockdown though so appreciate life wasn’t normal.

As someone who is ill and mostly bedridden, having bed bugs has been mentally scaring. It’s now over 5 months since the treatment and I’m sure as I can be that they are gone. It was reassuring to find dead bugs in the room immediately following treatment, including an adult behind a chest of drawers on the opposite wall to the bed and smaller ones on the windowsill. I would definitely recommend the heat treatment, but you have to follow the guidelines. Even now, though, if I wake in the night the first thing I do is whip back the duvet to check there is nothing crawling around and I still can’t face sleeping with the light off!

Exceptional service - heat treatment for bed bugs

I’m only 8 days post heat treatment and it’s the best £960 i’ve ever spent! They left spray and powder after so I can’t clean for 14 days but I couldn’t care less and wouldn’t even jeopardise them coming back! So glad I didn’t waste money on pesticides that might not have worked as it’s just not worth the stress. My anxiety was through the roof, I couldn’t sleep and with a baby on the way and wanting to move home, I felt unbelievably stressed and unwell! I became some kind of self-taught professional on bed bugs and even now feel ill just looking at pictures of them online! I prepped to the high heavens and on the day of treatment the pest men were exceptional. They were friendly, professional and very reassuring that whilst I felt the way I did, my infestation was actually very small and confined. I stayed at my moms on the day of treatment due to the hot weather outside and the residual heat left in my apartment being unbearable to sleep in but since going back home, I have not been bitten since or seen a single live bug. Whereas previously, I would be bitten several times at night and reacted to each bite! I have slept beautifully in brand new duvet, pillows and sheets and my anxiety levels have dramatically reduced. Although I am still within the 14 days and still very much on bed bug watch, I am growing more confident that the treatment has worked. On top of that, I called the operations manager, Ryan various times pre and post treatment for advice and reassurance and not once did he make me feel I was being a nuisance and he was helpful and genuine everytime. Very impressed and can’t thank Cimexine enough for how much they have helped me. Highly recommend the heat treatment! As expensive as it is, my mental health is worth every penny!

Massive disappointment

I am really disappointed in this company. Not only did we pay £1000 for them to get rid of our bed bugs, which did not work, but when we ended up having to leave our rented house because the problem was impossible to get rid of, I called them three times to ask the specialist to get back to me to give me some professional advice on how to move out safely.. and they never called me back! Disappointed does not even cover how I feel.

Heat and spray treatment.
I have waited to write this review. We are now 7 weeks in so i thought i would now write it.

After paying a cowboy company a stupid amount of money to destroy things in my home (with propane) and still having bed bugs i lost hope. However cimexine saved my sanity. They are extremely professional. They turn up in unmarked vehicles. The guys know what they are doing. 7 weeks in i have not seen a single bug or had a single bite.i am confident we are free of then Thank you so much. I will definatly recommend you to anyone who asks. Thank you again
