Stove fitted, looks good, excellent instructions for use, produces lovely heat and large door window gives room a cosy feel when lit. Wish we had replaced our open fire years ago.

Brilliant purchase decision!

Purchased through local supplier and fitted by local qualified installer. What a brilliant stove. Turned a large unused conservatory into a garden room by fitting a solid insulated roof and a Charnwood Aire 5 stove on stand. Turned into one of the most used rooms in the house with the lit stove as centre piece. Very pleased with our purchase.

Charnwood Aire 5 intelligent stove…

Purchased a Aire 5 intelligent stove from Shire stoves. This was an extra display model never been used. Came delivered with missing power cable but they did send it out. We brought the stove to replace the sky 5 BIG Mistake!! This stove is very expensive, since the day the stove was installed it never worked properly. We contacted the supplier they were not very helpful they told us to contact Charnwood. We contacted them they came out to look at the stove and said the issue was the motherboard a valve wasn’t working correctly. They changed the motherboard and this seemed to work. After a while it started to play up again our wood is dry and tested for moisture before burning. The app for the phone never works I can’t even get on it at all now no matter how many times I try to reinstall it. I have contacted Charnwood and told them that we are not happy with the stove and asked if we could return it. They said it’s not there problem contact the supplier where we purchased it from. The stove is just a crap expensive metal box and will be taken out at the end of winter. The sky 5 will be reinstalled.

Installation was professional and efficient. The team arrived on time, protected the furniture, did some serious drilling which resembled dust central! but after the installation did a fantastic job of clearing up!
The log burner fits perfectly, looks great and burns well.
I am more than delighted with the product and the service. Job done!!!

A first rate log burner.

The product has proven to be highly effective offering great warmth & glow with the logs burning highly efficiently. The service was spot on with no issues regarding the order & delivery.
The log burner is of a very high quality & looks great in the setting.

Poor quality and abysmal after sales care…

We purchased a Charnwood stove because we had researched which stoves were top quality and had spoken with friends and neighbours who recommended them.

However, since having our Island 1 stove installed on 16 January 2026 and carrying out the instructions provided by our installer (having 3 kindling fires to “cure” the stove prior to having a proper fire) the rope seal came away from position not once, but twice!

The first time was the morning after our first proper fire… the left side door was stuck firmly shut and wouldn’t budge. Eventually we managed to get it open but the rope seal had been stuck to the stove body and had came away from its position on the mid section of the door! Our installer had to arrange to come to our home to glue it back in place a few days later, so we couldn’t use our stove until it was fixed. We also had the inconvenience of having to wait inside our home for our installer to come and fix it. Our installer was also understandably not at all happy about this either, as he had to take the time out of his busy schedule to come and assist with this fault, which should never have happened with a brand new charnwood stove!

We had to wait until the next day to use our new stove as the glue needed time to cure. After our next fire the exact same fault happened! However, this time it was the rope seal at the very bottom of the left door! Again, we had to contact our installer to fix the rope seal by gluing it back into position (in his own valuable time) We did not know when he would manage as he was very busy (and most unhappy) but he unexpectedly arrived on our doorstep one day at 5pm and we actually heard him swearing on his phone to someone about us via our ring doorbell! We did not say anything about this, as we completely understood his frustration with our supposedly “new” Charnwood stove! He fixed the rope seal back into position for us again and we couldn’t use it until the next day.

You will understand how disappointing this entire situation has been for us especially after having chosen a Charnwood stove deliberately as it had a reputation of being of the highest quality.

We therefore contacted Charnwood customer services to let them know of our problems with regard to the new stove we purchased from them, as we wanted to hear their opinion on our disappointing experiences.

They took 9 days to reply and merely apologised and said they had discussed our issue in their monthly management meeting and they said:

“now that the rope seal has been firmly re-stuck into place I am sure that this will no longer cause you any problems.”

There was no explanation as to why this happened not once, but twice! There was no understanding of our situation and the problems we had experienced! There wasn’t even any gesture of goodwill offered to us in consideration of the time we spent waiting for our brand new stove to be fixed and the disappointment this entire experience has caused. There was also absolutely no consideration whatsoever for the installer who had to take the time out of his busy schedule to fix their stove!

They also never gave us any indication as to any measures they would put in place to resolve this type of issue for future customers! I do not think they care in the slightest bit and feel they just brush their stove’s flaws under the proverbial carpet!

In summary, Charnwood’s after sales customer care is abysmal - once they have sold their products, they take no interest in customer care and relinquish all responsibility for their product’s flaws with no consideration for anyone but their own company. Their only interest is in their own profits at the expense of their own customers. For this reason, as well as extremely poor quality rope seals, I would not give my recommendation to buy a Charnwood stove.

We are very sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with the door rope seal shortly after installation. This is clearly not the experience we want for customers who choose a Charnwood appliance, particularly after carefully researching our products and expecting the high standard we aim to deliver.

We appreciate how frustrating it must have been to have the stove temporarily out of use and to arrange additional visits from your installer. We also understand the inconvenience this caused, especially so soon after installation.

The door rope seals on our stoves are fitted using high-temperature silicone adhesive, and while issues are extremely uncommon, it appears that in your case the seal did not bond correctly during the initial curing fires. Once correctly re-adhered and fully cured, the seal should perform as intended, but we fully recognise that the situation you experienced was disappointing and inconvenient.

We are also sorry that our previous response did not fully address your concerns or reflect the level of customer care we strive to provide. Your feedback will be shared with our customer support and production teams so that we can review both the issue itself and how we communicate with customers when problems arise.

If you would be willing to contact our customer support team and mark your enquiry for the attention of the Customer Services Manager, we would very much like the opportunity to discuss your experience further and ensure that your stove is now performing exactly as it should. Please reference your Trustpilot review and your original enquiry so we can assist you promptly.

excellent service

we rely on our charnwood multi fuel stove as our main heat source.we needed a replacement part. spoke to 2 people to get it sorted , both were very patient as i was a bit stressed not having it delivered soon. ordered on Friday arrived sunday mid day. so thanks again. Ron goouge.
