Avoid Cash Converters Gateshead – Incompetent Staff, Hostile Environment, and Filthy Store

Do not waste your time or money at this location. This branch is run with zero operational standards, severe incompetence, and an appalling attitude toward customers.
The staff here make up policies on the spot.

When challenged on their basic lack of knowledge, instead of acting professionally or verifying the rules, the staff became hostile, aggressive, and defensive.

Beyond the abysmal customer service, the physical state of the store is disgusting. The entrance was littered with cigarette butts and rubbish, and the overall presentation of the shop and staff is completely unkempt and unprofessional.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience at Cash Converters Birkenhead.

I bought an amplifier from this store 30 days ago, and unfortunately, it doesn’t work properly. I returned to the store with the original receipt expecting a full refund for a faulty item, only to be offered around two-thirds of the price I originally paid.

I find this treatment incredibly disappointing. I bought the amplifier expecting it to work correctly, and when it turned out to be faulty, I expected the issue to be dealt with fairly under basic consumer rights. Instead, I was left feeling completely let down by the way the situation was handled.

I am asking Cash Converters Birkenhead to resolve this properly by providing a full refund of the original purchase price. I have the receipt and am simply asking for a fair resolution. In the past, as their records will show, I have bought many, many items from them. However, until this matter is resolved correctly, I won’t be buying from this store again. This will be my last purchase.

I bought a Marshall home/small venue guitar amplifier by post from the Worksop branch, as it was the very one I wanted to replace my trusty Fender one that had died.

It arrived very quickly (quicker than the promised 2-3 day delivery item I bought from eBay over a week prior to my order with CashConvertors - plainly one of the dreaded drop-shippers who are never honest about that!), was well packaged and does what it is meant to do. And let's face it, people take you serious when you have a Marshall kit, whihc in my case disguises my appalling guitar abilities.

I did initially think something was wrong, but you can't expect an amplifier to 'amplify' when the knobs on your guitar are set to very low! It must be an age thing with me!

It's in very good condition (plainly a careful previous owner), possibly better than described. Very good value, and also quite personalised update communications from the company on the progress of delivery (it arrived two days earlier than promised).

My Fender footswitch won't work with it, but then, the circuitry is different for the two amps, and that is not the fault of either Marshall or CashConvertors.

Altogether very pleased, and the Royal Mail postage at £10 I thought very reasonable, as it would have cost me around £25 in Diesel to travel.

In fainress I have never had a complaint with CashConvertors (except a Rotary watch that was claimed as second-hand, but was one of four new in the window from their Branch in Bolton - it had the importers' affixed plastic protection on the face and obverse and not a speck of dirt on the bracelet and the 'manual' had never been opened. It cost me half as much again to have fixed some 5 months after purchase, as I paid to have it professionally repaired, as the movement failed. Bolton claimed it was second-hand and out of their "guarantee" - it now sticks at 1:35 twice a day, so back to my Bulova manual automatic.)

Instructions on use of the amp kindly provided by Mr AI, as the Marshall website was not very useful and the other alternative was to buy from one of those "free" online manual people who require all your personal details (or join for a first week free with bank card details), so they can sell all your personal information to spammers and phishers.

Agreed a price on some gold sovereigns destroyed the coins with acid then put the price down from £797 to £720 will never go there again if I could give less then 1 Star I would avoid at all costs

I purchased a Macbook Pro online from the Wallasey branch and was very happy with the experience. The laptop was a great price, was packaged very well and was even better condition than I expected. It even came with a 1 year warranty. I wasn't able to login at first as there was a password set, so I called the branch and they quickly helped me get it sorted. Highly recommended purchasing from the Wallasey branch.

I purchased a Canon camera lens listed on eBay from the Rotherham store .I paid £7.00 postage next day delivery and it took 3 days to be delivered to me I sent two messages via eBay to the seller asking for a refund of the postage cost but cash converters Rotherham have not had the courtesy to reply to me. Got a reply on 29th August seller falsely claims they do not offer next day delivery, yet the postage label clearly states next day dispatched 24th August and they have refused to refund postage fee I have an image of label and I also got a quote from DHL for next day delivery @ £6.60.

Generally nice staff, one (or) two wasn't upto date with certain technical stuff yet overall good basic standards

The bose were sent in two days and were very well securely packed and were in excellent used condition

The bose headphones instantly connected to bose app received an update and works perfectly within the Bose app

Again very happy with cash converters helping me to purchase another premium electrical item that is in excellent used condition and save me hundreds of pounds whitch is awesome 👌 👏 👍

I purchased some Shokz Air earphones. Was supposed to (Shokz Air 2) as advertised online but was version 1.

I emailed the Derby East Midlands store and nobody had the decency to reply back.

I buy lots of tech online and sadly I don't feel confident purchasing from Cash Convertors.

Poor customer service

I purchased an Apple Pencil A1603 from Cash Converters, advertised and sold as a working item. Unfortunately, the Pencil I received is effectively unusable.

It is recognised by my compatible iPad and connects while plugged directly into the Lightning port, but the moment it is unplugged it immediately disconnects and stops working. I tried charging it, re-pairing it via Bluetooth and troubleshooting it several times, with exactly the same result. The battery clearly does not hold a charge.

For a second-hand electronics retailer, I would expect basic functionality like this to be tested before an item is sold and shipped to a customer. I paid £29.99 plus delivery for a product that I cannot actually use.

Very disappointing experience. I have contacted Cash Converters requesting a full refund or a properly functioning replacement and hope they resolve the matter promptly.

What an absolutely appalling customer service this store has! Bought a PS4 VR Headset from them online, when it arrived the camera adapter was missing which I reported instantly asking for the missing part to be sent as I cant use the set up on PS5 without the adapter! waited 2 and half days without response, so I opened a return for refund request!

This was ignored a future 2 days! When I said I'm going to make a formal complaint, Via Cash converter head office I got a replying offering a part refund of £10 which I accepted so I could buy the missing part! AGAIN I was being ingoted, no refund and still no acceptance of the return request!

5 days have now passed ! Today I get a reply telling me to close the dispute and they will issue the part refund?

WE BOTH KNOW IF I CLOSE THIS CASE I HAVE NO ENTITLEMENT TO RETURN SHOULD YOU LIE AGAIN ABOUT THE PROMISED REFUND?

I sell on this platform! we both know the rules and we both know you can issue a part refund from an open case! Which you later admitted to over the phone, proving your a lair and a cheat.

I purchased a Delonghi 3kw fan heater from the Fulham branch. It was described as used but looked in very nice condition, complete with the box. It arrived in less than 24hrs to Lancashire. Extremely well packed and after opening the box found the fan heater to be brand new. An excellent buying experience and outstanding customer service. I would Highly Recommend this business. This was my first purchase from Cash Converters, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience.
I purchased a camera online which was advertised as coming with batteries and accessories. The batteries never arrived. I was subsequently told that Royal Mail had attempted delivery, but no calling card was left and I was never provided with any proof of the alleged delivery attempt.
After several emails and a telephone conversation, I was eventually offered a full refund once the camera was returned. I returned the camera by tracked delivery at my own expense, and the parcel was successfully delivered.
The refund for the camera was eventually received, but the return postage that had been agreed was not refunded.
I appreciate that the company did ultimately refund the camera, and the staff I dealt with were polite. However, the amount of time and effort required to resolve what should have been a straightforward purchase was extremely frustrating.
This was my first experience of buying from Cash Converters and, unfortunately, it has left me reluctant to use the company again.
