Me - Why do I have a 60k self assessment tax bill? I’m PAYE, you do my tax calculations.

Brookson - You’ve been on a basic rate tax code (20%)

Me - Well, that’s clearly wrong. I’m a high rate tax payer.

Brookson - We just use the tax code from HMRC. Not our fault. We do what we’re told.

Me - But surely your annual ‘financial well being reviews’, or basic system checks would pick up the tax code doesn’t match the income?

PAYE payroll companies do ONE core thing. Process payments. Take a gross payment, calculate tax due, pay your balance. As a customer of over 5 years being told my payroll company don’t take responsibility for such a basic check is unforgivable.

Most people don’t write reviews, myself included. Do yourself a favour. Currently 15% of Brookson reviews are 1%. There’s a reason for that. Take Paystream. 1,500 more reviews and 5% are 1%. There are better options out there.

Starting Up in this Climate was a bit of a worry to say the least. However, I was introduced to Brookson One by an ex-HMRC employee and don't know what I was worrying about Marrianne was assigned to look after me and did a cracking job. Everything I needed to know, every single daft question she was/is on hand. Marrianne took care of everything and explained things to me so I could understand and get on with building my business.

Felt that the whole process was informative and possibly saved me some money with the suggestions that were given by Kyle Price.
