Held $28000 hostage for 9 days
Held $28000 hostage for 9 days. No explanation. Go into the bank, they tell you to call the fraud department. Fraud department tells you to call the customer service number. After getting transferred around and waiting on hold for 30min+, customer service supervisor tells you to go back to the bank. One way communication - unless you reach out to them, you'll never be contacted regarding whatever they are doing with YOUR money. Management is awful and unreachable. Trying to get contact info for anyone in a decision making role is next to impossible. Pathetic.
Every single person I dealt with is incompetent and unhelpful. They defer your concern to someone else who is equally inept. This is their corporate culture. Frustrate the customer and play games with their time and money. They have no problem accepting your deposits, but trying to withdrawal YOUR money is a fools' errand. To call them a bank is an insult to real banks.
No wonder every one of their locations has <2.5 star review on Google. The DMV has a far higher rating! I don't understand how anyone has the dignity to work at such a poorly reviewed operation that has incredibly low standards of customer service. I should have researched before I opened an account. I thought the locations were convenient, turns out it was just creating a massive headache.
Burn your money instead of letting the morons at BMO near it. It's faster and more convenient, and you'll have the same end result... nothing.
Horrible customer service
Went to a dealership to trade in my vehicle. Didn't have my payment booklet with me so we called the toll free number to get the payoff. Lady who was in customer service asking for information to confirm i was who i said i was. Had her on speaker phone so the salesman could hear the payoff. She asked what my last payment was and my husband sitting beside me told her what it was. She said take me off speaker phone, i don't need to hear what he has to say. I said my husband pays the bills so i didn't know what the last payment was. She again stated, take me off speaker phone or I will be forced to disconnect your call. she then asked me a series of questions one of which what month and year was your first payment. Really!! who the hell can remember that off the top of their head. I guessed. i assume it was wrong cause she had me put on hold for several minutes and then asked more questions, 1 of which i missed. she said i am unable to assist you today. you will need to visit a local branch to verify your identity. i asked her where the nearest branch was as i am in NC. No branches within driving distance. She said i am unable to help you again, you need to go to a local branch. This lady was RUDE the entire conversation. I then called the direct auto loan department and they had put a hold on my account so that lady was unable to help me. ALL I WANTED WAS THE PAYOFF AMOUNT FOR MY VEHICLE. The second customer service person said she would need to email me a form, sign it, have it notarized and send it via mail before they would unfreeze my account. My car salesman said i have never, ever had this much trouble getting a payoff on a vehicle. I will NEVER do business with this bank again. Even if their interest rate was the lowest, no way would i subject myself to dealing with such incompetent, rude people. Finally my salesman called a branch out west and the lady there was very helpful and friendly. Immediately gave me the information i needed.
Trying to set up an HOA account
Trying to set up an HOA account. After I was tired of being interrupted by the first representative and actually asking them if they were okay I had the pleasure if speaking to a Manager who I had to twice ask for him to not interrupt me.
Good luck.
bmo is the worst!!!!
bmo is the worst bank i've ever dealt with. their customer service is the worst and most incompetent i've dealt with -- and not just with banks but with all companies i've dealt with. when i call, i keep getting transferred from one department to another and each transfer, i have to verify myself. at one of those transfers, i failed to authenticate. big mistake. when that happened, their system blocked further communications by phone and i have to go to a branch to resolve the issue.
be warned. stay away from this horrible bank!
35 year Bank of West customer became BMO customer and treated like vagrant
The re are so many horror stories when Bank of the West moved to Bank of Montreal aka Bank Most offensive
The switch caused me to not have direct access to my account for 4 weeks which is so bad for a small business.
The always understaff the branches
They fire staff for being helpful to customers
I can't understand how they're still in…
I can't understand how they're still in business. It's almost as if they're trying to irritate their customers. I'd give zero stars if i could.
I received a inheritance from selling…
I received a inheritance from selling my parents home after they passed I put that money in the bank separated to my siblings but now that I go in the bank to get cash out of my account I get harassed from the lady there older lady salt and pepper hair even if I'm not at her window she' over speaking over the teller wall cuz I'm talking to not to her but to the other teller and she's telling me I need receipts I need I have to have statements of bills and stuff it's none of her business and all that's been taken care of so the other day when I left from there I was happy to go get some money and left from there disappointed and stressed just tired of going in there every time and she needs to pay attention to her customer instead of yelling over the window of what she wants me to do or what I need to do I've already done it so I don't know if I want to go into that brunch again it's convenient for me but I'd rather go somewhere else I'll eventually close that account and put it in another bank where I'm not getting harassed
Absolutely the worst banking experience…
Absolutely the worst banking experience in my life. Wish there was a way to give negative stars. Customer service is a complete joke. No idea how they’re still in business. I used their app to schedule ahead for a loan payment. It was due on the 15th. The money was taken out of my account on the 16th. Here it is the 20th and I have already received two notices that my payment is late because they have yet to post it towards my account. Customer service (somewhere in India?) suggested I make the payment now since they report to the credit agencies, will charge me a late fee, and possibly start repossession. Again, they withdrew my payment 4 days ago. Completely disgusted with them.
BMO customer support person was rude…
BMO customer support person was rude and uncaring.
Told me to email my questions in writing, and perhaps somebody would answer me.
I would rather slit my wrists and bleed…
I would rather slit my wrists and bleed out than ever have any business with this bank ever again. Their customer service is by far the worst I have ever encountered. I had to waste 5 1/2 hours on the phone trying to get my account back and they still made me, a disabled person, go into a branch multiple times to fix their mistakes. This meant taking two half days off of work to get to a branch which is not close before they closed for the day. I
Because one of their idiot sales people asked me an incorrect question from my credit report I can’t even call in now to get my balance even though I have been in to the branch multiple times since then and previously called to get my balance since then as well. I had to jump through an hour’s worth of verification prior to the wrong credit report question and they are acting like I am trying to steal my own money. I hate this bank as much as it is possible to hate a corporate entity and I hope they go bankrupt due to their complete and utter incompetence and general idiocy.
Dishonorable
As long as I'm opening a new account - go with the bonus, right? I search online and select BMO. I tried to set up account online but their system wouldn't accept any of my ID, despite wasting at least an hour taking numerous photos of DL and passport and trying. So, I go to a branch the next day, deposit $100 set up acct, but no pending bonus. I call immediately after and they won't honor the sign on bonus. I said then cancel the account and send me a check. They said ok. Same day I went to another bank to set up accounts (bonus included). Weeks later still no check, and a statement arrives with $3 monthly deduction for not setting up account and arranging paperless statements. I call again and they tell me that can't send me my money and cancel the account for 90 days (and $9) unless I pay a $50 cancellation fee.

Extremely unprofessional
Extremely unprofessional. In their system tried to pay a line of credit they accepted it and money was taken out from my US bank. After 10 days I called the bmo bank, representative said we are returning your money. I asked why he said he does not know. Asks how to pay my balances he said talk to the branch. ACH is not accepted. Inter banking transfer is not accepted. No body in the bank knows how I can pay down my line of credit. All they do verify you for 5 minutes and then nobody knows how their system works. Extremely complex to pay down your line of credit.
Horrible bank
Horrible bank. I’m transitioning out of my 40+ years with a local bank that had several murders and buyouts. This one is the worst. You can’t get them to listen to a question. My question today was what does DDA check mean? Her response was Deposit Account. There are three letters DDA they must all have a meaning, right? I asked to speak to a supervisor who said the same thing and I looked it up and it means Direct Deposit Account. Neither would listen to the question and were both rude. Since the buyout deposits are held 2-3 days even if they’re guaranteed, like social security, state retirement, etc. It’s taking me a while to cancel direct payments and deposits, but once I’m done I’ll close the account. I know it’s not going to make a difference, because as demonstrated by their customer service, no one cares.
BMO has been holding my deposit hostage…
BMO has been holding my deposit hostage for 9 days now! Customer service is horrible. I don't appreciate being spoken to like I'm a child. BMO can take your condescending tone somewhere else! If you make a promise I expect you to keep it! I've been lied to twice by your customer service. Yes, I have the receipts! Your "policy" is ridiculous! BMO banks like its 1995. Worst Bank I have ever dealt with in my 60 years on this earth! Do not use this bank for anything!
Would not provide payoff of loan over…
Would not provide payoff of loan over phone.
Said I had to go to branch which the nearest one is across several states.
Bmo is by far the worst bank we have…
Bmo is by far the worst bank we have ever dealt with. Unfortunately our boat loan was sold to them and we have had nothing but problems ever since. They won't let us pay extra toward the principal, and keep putting everything towards the interest. This just keeps pushing out the next payment date, but doesn't lower the amount we owe. I have contacted them multiple times with no resolve. I am paying off the entire amount, so I will never have to deal with this corrupt bank again!
This bank will put corrupt employees over year long Customers
I’m sorry
But this Bank has the worst customer service I (or my significant other) have ever dealt with!
My Girlfriend/fiancé had a Complaint where her Ex-husband forged her name not once, not Twice, but three time. On a Morgan name Release, HUD lone, & an Equity loan.
Loans were not through BMO/Harris bank.
But it was one of there employees that helped in her Forgery. It was a BMO employee that Notarized the paperwork needed for her ex-husband to Obtain the name change on mortgage an Equity loan, & a Gov. HUD lone. All Before & wile she was still in the middle of her Divorce.
Basically BMO employee/Notary lied on 3 documents in which he notarized my Girlfriend signature on all three documents, In turned allowed her ex-husband to obtain 2 loans & have her name removed from there mortgage.
This was all uncovered by her Divorce attorney, (at this time being used in her divorce) because everything is Public records.
But put aside the divorce, because that is a different but similar issue!
In my girlfriend’s & divorce Lawyers investigated ( Coming back to the issue issue at hand) it was Recorded that the same Notary Who I also explained is a BMO/Harris Bank employee lied on a document claiming my girlfriend was there and signed these three documents to obtain three mortgage/loan applications threw a different lender one being the federal Gov.
The Signatures which she had to spend money on to be Analyzed by A handwriting analysis Conclusion came to that. No they were not her signature.
So she brought this to the branch manager where the employee works who referred her to basically a district manager.
Where she tried to open a fraud case on the bank employee/notary.
With sending them all the Facts & finding of this issue.
She was most definitely not received well by the district manager, where she the district manager made her own conclusions, with no Fraud Investigation. That my girlfriend had no case!!
It even gets worse from there.
The district manager Completely closed my girlfriend checking account, & was told she would never be allowed to open an account with BMO again.
Now she closed her account with Roughly $220.00 in her account. Good thing was this was not her main account, all she used that account for was to cash her child support checks every week since that was the bank her Ex-husband used to wright her child support checks.
Now my question is, was that even legal to do and I know it’s not a lot of money but but where did that money go after her account was closed?
It was pathetic how the BMO District manager handled this entire situation to begin with!! At no time did my girlfriend speak rudely, Inappropriately or harshly to this manager. But you can not say the same as the manager. Also at no point did my girlfriend make any kind of accusations that it was the banks fault!!
All she was doing was letting the bank know what one of there employees did that is illegal! The reason she’s is mad or upset with this is because of the 2 loans that were taken out half in her name hurt her credit. Now trying to get it fixed.
As for her Divorce it has already been excepted in as Evidence of him trying to pull a fast one over her and the courts so it looks like they owed more on the house then they did, also getting her name off the mortgage before the Divorce was over.
So to her divorce part well we will find out soon enough since trial starts in September.
I’ve been with her for little over 5 years her divorce has been going on for 6 years a year before I even met her!!
She is mad, upset, not looking for Revenge but Justice! In destroying her credit During the six years of her divorce!
I can not understand how & why this Bank is doing what they are doing.
They making it worse on themselves & now putting the Bank in the middle of situations that was just an employee problem.
Out side of taking the employee to Civil court she has now added BMO bank to her civil action.
Yes it does increase the amount in money to add the bank, there employee and here Ex-husband all in one civil action!
But I’m putting this out there to all you Customers of BMO/Harris Bank.
They are definitely not to be trusted and they will do more to protect there employee then they will do to protect there customer.
If anyone out there that reads this can help her get past This banks District manager and steer us in the right direction, to one get her money back for closing her account,
She doesn’t want to include the bank in the lawsuit, but they are giving her no choice!!
Thank you
Ex-Customer
Of BMO/Harris Bank
I personally moved everything I had with this bank to another bank I can trust!!
Terrible company … they don’t care…
