Unfortunately, the wildfires and associated safety concerns meant the decision to close was completely outside of our control, but the safety of riders, staff and emergency services always has to come first.

Don't worry too much about slowing your son down. One of the great things about BPW is that riders of different abilities can all enjoy themselves, and before long you might surprise yourself with how quickly your confidence progresses.

It's great to hear the hire team got everything dialled in properly too. A Rail 9.8 with Zebs and Mavens is certainly a nice way to experience the mountain 😎

Starting on Kermit and progressing through the blues is exactly what we'd recommend for a first visit, and we're glad the E-Bike climbs helped add to the experience too.

Thanks for the feedback regarding the burgers too. We always appreciate constructive comments and we'll make sure this is shared with the café team.

And you're absolutely right about the grading. We work hard to ensure riders understand what lies ahead, which is why we encourage everyone to take notice of the grading system and skill features before dropping into a trail.

The campervan suggestion is one we hear from time to time and we can certainly understand the appeal of waking up right next to the trails. This is on our radar for future plans, we're just not there yet.

In the meantime, we're fortunate to have some great local campsites and accommodation providers nearby, but we'll pass your feedback on.

Hi James,
We're sorry to hear your first visit didn't go as planned.

Having looked into the situation, there appears to have been a misunderstanding regarding the repair. When your wheel was brought into the workshop, the team understood that you were going away to explore alternative options, such as sourcing parts externally or arranging a bike hire, rather than immediately proceeding with the repair.

As a result, with a workshop schedule already containing pre-booked jobs alongside the emergency repairs that come through during the day, your wheel remained untouched while the team awaited confirmation of how you wished to proceed. Unfortunately, until we knew whether you wanted to hire a bike or go ahead with the repair, we couldn't allocate workshop time to the job.

We completely appreciate how frustrating this must have been, particularly after making a 200-mile journey and looking forward to a day's riding. However, this wasn't a case of the workshop refusing to help or deliberately leaving the repair unattended. Rather, there was a breakdown in communication about the intended next steps.

We're pleased the team were able to offer a spoke replacement, and we're sorry we didn't have the specific derailleur you required in stock. As you'll appreciate, it's not possible for any workshop to carry every derailleur model and specification.

We understand why the experience left you disappointed, especially as it impacted valuable riding time on your first visit. We'll certainly take this feedback on board as clearer communication could have helped avoid the misunderstanding altogether.

We hope your son was able to get back riding and experience some of what BPW has to offer despite the setback.
