Well done East Finchley Councillors and Barnet Council! They got horrible graffiti removed almost instantly from the lovely new direction sign on the Causeway behind the station and also from the Cherry Tree Wood nature information board. That’s the way to defeat these graffiti vandals!

Barnet Council are an absolute joke.
Unfortunately, this isn't funny as they continue to betray its residents with impunity.
They seem to have a deliberate strategy to make everything as difficult as possible, probably to put people off from getting anything resolved or complaining. They do this by:
- not responding to emails or keeping you waiting for weeks on end for a reply
- a very poor website that lacks important information or it is hidden
- no phone numbers for some departments
- unpleasant, unhelpful and obstructive representatives
- useless customer services
and worst of all:
- never actually doing anything at all to resolve a problem.
Nothing. Ever.
I have tried complaining and all that happens is you receive an acknowledgement and then you either don't hear anything back, the complaint mysteriously goes missing or, if it does actually get addressed by a manager, it simply gets totally dismissed - every single time, regardless of what the issue is.
I had a road safety concern ignored for weeks on end which is totally reckless and irresponsible.
They are not just totally incompetent, they seem to be deliberately unhelpful/difficult and nobody in authority ever challenges them. No idea how they are allowed to get away with it.
Residents deserve better than this and we should not have to put up with being treated with such contempt any longer.

Barnet Council - Masters of Recycling Promises, Not Collections!

If you're ever in need of empty promises and unfulfilled commitments, look no further than Barnet Council! For over seven long weeks, I've been waiting for them to collect my recycling. I’ve called them religiously, twice a week for the past six weeks, and every single time, they give me the same tired assurance: “It’ll be collected soon.” Spoiler alert: It never is.

In fact, at this point, my recycling bins have become an integral part of the local ecosystem, providing shelter for wildlife, growing suspiciously vibrant plant life, and possibly becoming their own borough. Who knows?

I've escalated the issue to management, who seem to have their PhDs in creative excuse-making. Every promise they make seems to vanish into thin air faster than my faith in this council's ability to do, well... anything. They’re so good at dodging responsibility that I’m beginning to think they should train for the Olympics.

What’s even more infuriating is that while they can’t manage to collect a few bins of recycling, they have no problem increasing council tax. It's almost impressive how the price goes up while the service goes down. It's like paying extra for a meal and being served an empty plate – except, in this case, the plate is still full of last month’s bottles and cardboard.

And let’s not forget the time wasted on the phone. Over 2 hours a week for the last 5 weeks. That’s 10 hours of my life I'll never get back, lost to elevator music and empty reassurances. At this rate, I’ll have spent more time on the phone with Barnet Council than I have with my own family.

So, if you’re a fan of Kafka-esque bureaucracy and growing piles of recyclables, Barnet Council is the one for you. Just don’t expect them to collect anything other than your money.

Long waiting time for someone to answer your phone. As usual excuse " sorry sorry " but nothing to improve it.

Absolute rubbish! Never collects Blue bins!i have been Reporting missed bin collection every week since months , it’s been a month and it’s still not collected ! What a joke

They let donestic abusers work for them. People who bear women and have no concern about disability. Would you want this person looking after your kid? No. I reported it to them and they ignored it. They allow people with criminal records to work for them.

Still waiting for my compensation and to repair my flat from moulds and damp that happened 4 years ago and the repairs were meant to take place as of 31st July 2024, it has been 48 days out of 120 days to do my flat and on one gas been to my flat or called or emailed me, as an aneamic and asthmatic person breathing such polluted smell is a serious risk and the solicitor that came to my flat January 15th this year to see my flat's conditions are no better, my flat is categorised as category 2 hazard 1 damp and mould growth and here I am in a unsuitable flat with other health conditions too. They are living in a new fresh of breath living conditions and placing people in an unsecured property. They have forgotten about the landlord and tenant act 1985 that states; the flat must be fit for human habitation, be it barnet council or barnet homes, WHAT A SHAME.

Worst council ever . Cath shaw is a useless manager including the majority of the housing team . This council acts illegally by housing families in 1 bedroom mouldy accomodations. Stay away from this council at all costs. This council should be investigated.

Congratulations to Ballymore to shut down the broad walk shopping centre. It’s a sorry sight unfortunately. Will miss it though.

However this proposed plan is going to cause rift with the local community. Let’s face it it’s all about generating money from this development

This council think they have the right to treat the hardworking taxpaying public like criminals, I was given misleading information by them over the phone even though I’d already paid my council tax they used unscrupulous “loan shark” harassment techniques threatening to fine me take me to court their complaints process is an Orwellian kafkaesque scam.There nothing more than a bunch of thugs taking the public’s money under false pretences

These thieves implement 1 hour parking restrictions just to leech off of residents for no valid reason. Their parking permit portal is poorly organised and their support services are appalling over the phone. All they do is advise to email instead and the response time for the emails is at least 2 weeks.

My mother aged 66 years old had a boiler serviced by "BARNET COUNCIL" she was told it required a new part they returned a few weeks later and installed the new part, also a second engineer attended to repair the hot water cylinder heating element well...
The boiler flashed up errors c7 fan not working so no heating and hot water so mum switch the hot water cylinder on you guess it dont work no hot water, so after 4 tradesmen have been this week and it has been 5 days all turn up with different parts although they had pictures of the part number?. so friday she was told only Scotland have the part it will probley be here Tuesday and then a day to do the job mum works full time and pays full rent and has to take a day off to allow them to carrie out the repairs that they keep messing up so she has had no hot water or heating for 8 days today. she has had to boil the kettle 9 times to have a wash think of how much electricity it costs, discussed with "BARNET COUNCIL" no one has checked on her or gave her an update in days, meanwhile they have not even tried to replace the cylinder part they are trying to find out who had repaired it what a joke I can get a heating element almost same day to at least give hot water she has been totally neglected and I will help her to report the findings to the Ombudsman I think they should pay for the stress,time wasted taking time off work, discomfort and electric wasted, with some a form of compensation this is truly disgusting and disappointing service from "BARNET COUNCIL". You have right to ensure that the wellbeing of all your tenants meets the required satisfaction and regulation standards are met.

!!! Update "Still no hot water a plumber was out to fit a new part for the hot water cylinder failed after 2 hrs no part for the boiler 9 days now what a joke......

Absolutely atrocious team running the council tax department, they have taken my objections regarding my health issues and the post office not delivering letters (we all know how they operate now) as a personal attack on themselves, I now have a bunch of incompetence women, sipping coffee's all day, ever day, whilst deciding their next plan of disruption regarding my council tax payments, most recently another kangaroo court demand, whilst recieving acceptable payments ... Now they're topped it up with £287 liability costs to be paid immediately ... Unbelievable ... Citizens advice are taking a serious look at this situation.

If there was a -5 I would tick that but I am forced to give a one star- which I think it is more that they deserve. Have overcharged me council tax, have sent them two emails- the last one 14th May - when I also called them- and have yet to hear from them (3rd June) as to when they will return my money
. They are doing it because they can and that is despicable. Not that they care as we pay their salary rain or shine

I visited Edgware Library today and wish I hadn't bothered as I lost £8 when I printed out. I didn't know in time there was currently no colour printing. There should have been notices by the computers, only one by the printer I didn't see in time. Also wasted a lot of time moving to another computer and waiting to print out. Was advised to return tomorrow to get it sorted out but I said I can't and it'll involve another full bus fare. Also even with a receipt I don't have enough proof of what went wrong. Very disappointed to be ripped off.

Since Labour have been in charge of the Borough and local areas have become revolting.
Allowing areas to get so dirty, roads to remain dangerous with pot holes, bins often not emptied.
I'm not exactly sure what they actually DO do, but investing in the area (other than agreeing to bring McDonalds to Mill Hill) is very evidently not a priority for them.
No police around, pick pockets and thefts on a daily basis on the High Street.
The ridiculous seating areas instead of parking impact the local businesses. Everything is so badly considered and never revisited.
And there's never anyone at the end of the phone to discuss it with.

Barnet Council receives a full five stars for avoiding responsibility in its failure to maintain roads within the borough. In the last six months I have had the unfortunate experience to suffer two damaged tyres, one broken front coil road-spring and two damaged anti-roll bars.
On receipt of my claims, Barnet requested I forward photographs of the potholes, which of course I did so immediately. I duly witnessed that these potholes were attended very promptly! After about 40 days I received Barnets response. Needless to say, my claims were rejected!!! Of course, they will not honour the expense of my repairs as a result of their negligence in maintaining the roads, but what they do, and do very quickly, is to make road repairs reported, as they clearly wish to avoid any further claims from motorists suffering the same fate!
Clearly, Barnet is using the reporting of the potholes not for the purposes of justifying claims, but using the info from unfortunate motorists who are acting as 'trackers' of dangerous potholes and paying for Barnets failure to maintain road repairs, with the privilege of paying for their own repairs which should of course be at Barnets expense as a result of their negligence in maintaining roads in good order. Barnet of course,'laughing' with the air of confidence that they will not be challenged by the public. A total and unacceptable situation which should really be taken to the Small Claims Court!

DISGRACE! Broken window, won't close, reported in December and still not repaired, I've chased them numerous times and have been told someone will contact you - It's now April ...still waiting.

Now we have a broken pipe from neighbour above, water leaking into our home near electric circuit board, has ruined our floorboards - they said 'we will send someone out to investigate'- did someone come? ...of course not!

Utter disgrace.

A friend of mine, was left in a home for 2 days, after a waste flood as they refused to send a plumber out-she was hospitalised. They then pretended the home was repaired(there are photographs of the place months after, to show they lied) and then stopped paying for the hotel she had to stay in. Whilst living with friends, as she had no choice, she was attacked and hospitalised again. I wrote to every member of their board, 3 times, by recorded delivery-not one even replied. Employees then lied again causing benefits to stop payments. Barnet Council and its board, are an absolute disgrace, I would go so far as to say, their behaviour borders on criminal negligence.

Greg Terenfenko and Deborah St James heads of Barnet Housing are destroying communities and childrens lives.
They believe that it is ok for disabled and young children to be housed with dangerous people, witness knife crime, violence and abuse and gun crime and be woken and kept awake all night and ignore medical professionals who say otherwise.
I would be concerned of having them involved in anything to do with children and families with their views.
They look after criminals and drug addicts but let children suffer.
Watching a borough you have lived in for generations be killed of by them is sad but looking at the current ratings I’m not the only one who thinks so. Sickening and dangerous
