If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would! This company are complete crooks who should be shut down for what they do to their customers. Always made on time payments which they rewarded by raising my interest rate to a whopping 33%! That is not a nice interest fee to be charged every month. When I had finally had enough and paid the card off in route to closing it, these scammers charged me yet another interest payment after I had already paid off my balance! Unbelievable. Run and don’t look back!

I will NEVER use this card again, will pay my balance and close the account. Barclays is shady, their customer service is rude /read solely from scripts, and disputes are in writing by snail mail.
It has been two months of 15-20 phone calls to Barclay and a 71 page dispute letter clearly showing the email trail between me and the vendor. The vendor was a scam, I didn’t receive the promised services that I paid for and Barclays treated me like a criminal. The icing on the cake: I was told by Barclays that my case was now out of the dispute timeframe and it was nothing they could do.

They advertise a $200 bonus for depositing $30k but they only mention in the fine print that it needs to be deposited within 30 days.
The advertising for that bonus doesn't mention anything like that. It seems deliberately deceptive.
I cancelled this Shady Credit Card Company
I closed this card this morning due to the one star rating because I noticed when I received this card back November 2025 and was paying toward my annual fee of the $600 which I decided to pay $100 a month towards the annual fee and they took my 4000 dollars credit limit to a $100 as of yesterday which I noticed and I never ever used this card so I decided to read the reviews and I noticed that this company had 1 Star rating I immediately decided to close due to something shady about Barclay MasterCard company and as of contacting this company I got just what I was expecting from this company they took my $300 I put towards the annual fee but it's ok I rather lose $300 than be a part of a shady credit card company any day. I hope and pray they tell the truth on my credit report that I closed their card because of there 1 Star ⭐ Rating and I see that it's true regarding the reviews so beware.

I applied for a credit card online which should have been approved on the spot, per my previous credit card application experience.
I have a 850 Fico score, which should be so easy to get approved but with Barclays, it's like applying for a mortgage loan. They ask me to fax or send by mail my ID card, social security number and utility bills. It's the worst experience.
worst customer service rocks for brains or something
This has to be the worst customer service for a credit card I have ever experienced. My story on customer service is just rude unprofessional and useless. I called simply to confirm a website issue for my account and I was told everything but what I called for I then messaged Customer Care and reported what had taken place and their response left me speechless not addressing what my message stated just began giving me schooling steps on how to view my transactions. Unbelievable. It’s very sad. I enjoy using this card for the benefits of the rewards however it’s more important to me to have excellent service when I need it. I will be closing this account regardless of what it does to my credit. Very sad. for those who have experienced such sadness with this Bank if you’re looking for an amazing Bank with excellent customer service USAA is incredible. That’s where I will continue and stay going forward.
Barclay's Customer Service Nightmare!

Barclay's US, my worst experience with credit card customer service in 43 years! I had transfered a small balance the night before, from my PC, from another credit card, to my Barclay's 0% for one year offer, and every thing went fine. Then the next mornig I received a message on my land line answer machine, and I could not understand on behalf of "who" this lady was calling, and she said that I should call back an 800 number. I had to find out on Google that it was from barclay's. Here is what was realy awful, I could verily undestand this lady, and on top of that the background noise was bad! after I told her, she fixed some of the issue, and she begain to ask me "verification questions", in order to get the approval for the transfer, she did so so many times that it was ridiculous, I asked her for a supervisor, she put me on hold, 8 minutes later I had to hang up and call again, another lady with the same questions again, but now she told me she would connect me with another customer service rep. and after 7 minutes, the other rep. came on with more of the same questions that I had already answered PLUS more on top of it, another 17 minutes, and I had it! I hanged up.
THREE rep's a dozen times asking me the same questions for a grand total of more than 33 minutes! I believe this was done intentionally, as to not approve the "$550" dollar transfer, for watever reason, and in a very really insulting way! I went on my PC and demanded my accont be closed. And it was so.
I had this credit card for 14 years and 10 months and while it was run by the previous banks it was good and they had excellent customer service. I also have a credit score of 822. Barcklay's Not worth it!
No statement credit since the switch
I’m very frustrated with the fact I can no longer use my reward points for statement credit. I have no plans to purchase a GM vehicle and do not currently have a GM vehicle, and I was told that is what the rewards points are for now. I am so ready to have this card paid off so I can find one that is better for me!

I closed my card and was told that the annual fee I had already paid for the coming year would be refunded. After a month I called them again since no refund was received, and they told me they now won't refund it. Liars. That whole card was a rip-off anyway with it's annual fee and only 1% rewards on purchases. Also the only company they won't waive a late fee. Other credit card companies are much better and will forgive you a one-time mistake by paying too late, etc. Also, when you call customer service one usually gets a foreigner who is hard to understand.

The absolute worst. Had fraud committed against my account and they sided with the criminals. And treated me like a criminal. If you call customer service, be prepared to wade countless hours working your way through a maze of people that cannot communicate. The worst experience ever!

I got this card years ago for the flyer miles. I just tried to use my flyer miles for the first time to purchase a 1-way ticket and the only option it would give me for my flight was at 6am, even though there were many other available flights that day, if I didn't use my flyer miles.

Surprised Jetblue does business with Barclays.
They are unable to figure out how to call us for a security code in order to establish online access to card. The only reason I took this card was to get JETBLUE miles.. NEVER AGAIN... I am surprised Jetblue does any business with them. Reflects poorly on jetblue involvement with such a low rent company.
Stay away from Barclay
I made a payment on my old navy credit card (held by Barclay) I paid the credit card off. Over a week later I started getting text messages that my payment was returned for NSF. I contacted them and was told they were being sent in error and disregard them. They stopped, I went to Old Navy and my card was declined. I paid for my stuff and called the number when I got to my card. It was saying I still owed the payment. I spoke with corporate and she was going to investigate it, she said it will take a couple weeks. I never heard back, I called a week ago and was told a supervisor would call in 24 to 48 hours, no call. I filed a BBB complaint and they won't answer it. I will pay my card off but all this time they are playing around they are adding late fees.
I called my bank and it wasn't declined for insufficient funds, Barclay didn't put the first 3 digits of my account number in and that is why it was denied. So this is 100 % their fault and they are ruining my credit. It went down 31 points from them.
WORST customer experience ever
Worst customer experience ever! DO NOT ever take a credit card out with this company. After I closed my account, they sent me a credit (I guess I over paid). AFTER that date they allowed two charges to come across, to which they continued to add late fees. The $14 of charge became $51. I called on three occasions to try to get it fixed, escalated to managers, etc. They are either a bunch of idiots or they try to rip you off. Incompetent and unethical (great combo). I eventually was able to get them to open an investigation to try to fix it; after a few weeks I got a letter that says "because too much time went by they can't confirm any wrong doing". WHAT!?!?!?! The time that went by is on them. I called so many times to try to fix this. I paid it all today even though on principle I shouldn't have to, but it's not worth the time and aggravation. NEVER EVER EVER open a credit card with this company.

I would absolutely never recommend the Barclays GM Mastercard to anyone. Barclays is the worst company, their app is does not allow you to rate them when they ask for your opinion (complete waste of time), they don’t care to safeguard any of your information, and their Customer Service does not care about the customer at all of them speak no English and everyone I spoke with has a strong Indian accent dialect that is extremely difficult to understand and they do not use proper English so the language barrier makes them extremely difficult to talk with. I have spoken with over 10 reps about a Fraudulent Claim that needs reported to the FBI and they refuse to look into it after I provided documentation and they are very inconsistent, not helpful, and unclear. When you ask to speak to a manager their management is incompetent and the background noise on their end sounds like they are in a location inside a shooting range, making the language barrier even more difficult. This company needs to be run by people that actually speak English. Don’t waste your time with Barclays unless you to be ultimately disappointment and dissatisfied.
