Our little puppy has had a few casualties, so I’m really fortunate that I took a policy out. I have been treated like royalty, by this insurance company. I appreciate it!!! (I am a senior citizen who has less energy than this puppy definitely, but promised my husband he could get one, after our 20-year old house cat passed.)

We recently adopted a pure bred Mainecoon kitten. Bowdoin was microchipped when we got him. When we registered as the new owners we were given the opportunity to sign up for a 30 day pet insurance policy while we considered what type of insurance we wanted to select for his coverage. A couple of days ago we called to firm up our coverage. We were assisted on both occasions by an exceptional representative named Chelsea. Chelsea was very knowledgeable about all of the options available to us and the advantages/disadvantages of each. She was thorough, answered all of our questions (some twice because I'm not always quick on the uptake), very patient and has great people skills. Chelsea recommended a policy configuration that met both our budget and our coverage desires. All of our dealings with the company so far have been exceptional. There was no pressure to purchase, no comeons, nothing but facts that we needed and some we didn't even know to ask about. Thank you Chelsea. Now we hope we never have to use the insurance!

My Bouvier is 15 months. I thought about getting pet insurance every time I went to the vet. I loaded up with brochures from a multitude of pet insurance providers, and did nothing until today. I called AKC and spoke with Michaela. She was, no doubt, what I had been waiting for! She was amazing. I asked her to advise me on the best options for a breed that is known for some possible issues. She knew her stuff, and walked me through the process with clarity, and a sense of humor. She mentioned things I hadn’t thought of but should have since I had owned Bouviers in the past. I ended up with coverage that will give me peace of mind regardless of what comes our way.

I wasn’t sure of what policy I should get and when I called Michaela was amazing! She was quite knowledgeable about the policies and advised me on things I wasn’t sure about. Glad I went with this policy and grateful for all the wonderful help I was given my Michaela!!

She was very pleasant and you could feel the love.
I felt very comfortable with her on the phone. She was so friendly oh my goodness. She’s a keeper!

AKC's registration is misleading. One of the first benefits that AKC mentions is 30 days of pet insurance. However, it isn't until you pay and finish your registration that they tell you that your state does not qualify. Very misleading! I called customer service to see if they can remedy this situation, and they were unable to. They say that my purchase is non-refundable. They acknowledged the frustration and misleading marketing, but they did nothing about it.

I am a new client with AKC and called with some general questions around my policy. I spoke to Michaela and she did an excellent job making sure I had what I needed. Absolutely outstanding customer service! Thank you Michaela!

Your representative was terrific. She was so efficient and knowledgeable. She took the time to answer all my questions and more. I couldn't have asked for better service. I've rarely experienced the excellent level of service I received from AKC Pet Insurance in my entire life!

Michaela provided exceptional customer service. She was informative, polite, and very personable! Best customer service I’ve ever had!

We have made multiple requests to speak to a manager to get 3 issues resolved and NO one has called. From billing date issues, to refusal to pay for surgical procedures covered by the policy to no communication. We where warned and now I am writing reviews letting everyone know You don’t Want to use this company! Go with Figo or another company who cares.

I have paid over $1,100 per year for pet insurance for my 2 AKC registered canines for 6 years. Recently I came home to my Rottweiler yelping in agony. After a trip to the emergency vet for initial assessment, we took him to his regular vet the following morning. He had prostitus and needed an emergency neutering to relieve the pressure. After filing my claim, AKC Pet Insurance reimbursed me $0.00!!!

$7,000 of insurance premiums got me exactly nothing from these criminals. DO NOT GIVE THEM A PENNY!! They do not actually provide insurance for your furry family members! They take your money and tell you to suck it when you have an emergency.

In their reply they are exactly as helpful as you can expect from this horrific company. They mention that I didn't meet my $1,000 deductible. I submitted almost $1,300 in emergency veterinarian surgery receipts. They lied and paid zero dollars. USE A REAL INSURANCE COMPANY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS HEALTH!

Don’t even hesitate! Im one of those people that does extensive research on everything. All roads led me to Akc pet insurance. First comes price point , which akc was the most affordable. Out of over 20 pet insurance companies I reviewed Akc beat them by a long shot ,we’re talking over $50 in monthly savings some cases even more. Second comes their customer service, which are very knowledgeable people who answered all of my questions and concerns. I felt they had my pets best interest at heart. I filed a claim on their website which is super easy and sure enough no excuses an email stating how much I would be reimbursed and that my check is in the mail what more do you want from a company? They do what they say period.

No doubt about it, AKC all the way. Never had a bad experience with them. Always had a check within a few weeks. If your asking me, I am telling you. Go with AKC you won't regret it.

We have been clients for seven-plus years. The claims response time is much better and went through a rough patch that may have been aggravated by our vet getting behind on paperwork. Well-documented processes (notices of notices) and equitable treatment for a little West Highland Terrier with a wide range of knee, stomach, and allergy issues.

I have had the most positive experience with AKC Pet Insurance. I can call anytime to check my coverage and the people I've spoken to have always been exceptionally helpful and professional. My claims have always been acknowledged via e-mail and paid promptly upon acceptance. I cannot recommend them enough.

UPDATE: Changing my review from 1 star to 3 based on a recent conversation I had with the manager. My claims are being worked. He spoke with the Vet on the phone to get all of the needed information since it was not being clearly communicated via fax and email. It took some work but I am thankful that the manager was able to resolve my issues.

Previous Review: I am not sure where or how to being but dealing with AKC Pet insurance is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. It is stressful and time consuming. The customer service team is not knowledgeable and never have any information to share other then what is on my claims page on the website. I can read so I am not quite certain what the point is of having a customer service phone number unless it is strictly for people that cannot access their account information online. Every time a claim is rejected I get a sentence description of why it was not covered. The documents that are submitted with the claims are not thoroughly reviewed and it seems like they claims adjusters will do anything out of paying a claim if it is over a certain amount. I have been waiting over 1 1/2 months for a claim to be reviewed. When I called I was told it was because they waited 3 weeks to hear back from my vet. Which in fact is not my vet but an emergency vet that I have used in emergency situations although not in this one. This is the vet that diagnosed the previous claim that I had submitted. I understand wanting to get all of the information but I believe if they would have reached out to me to let me know that they were having trouble getting in contact with my vet I could have assisted instead they wait for me to call them to inquire to tell me this. Also, have they reached out to my vet? I have no idea. I was told I will get a call back from the manager later today or tomorrow. Please note that I have spoken to this manager on numerous occasions and also have been promised a call back from him more then once. It has been a month since I was supposed to receive my last call. This is ridiculous and a horrible way to do business. I actually believed that AKC Pet Insurance would be a reputable brand since they are associated with the AKC and recommended by them but I have been sadly mistaken. I asked who I should reach out to if I do not get what I need from the manager and I was told there was no one else. I know how businesses work. I let the customer rep know that I know that he has a manager and was told that she does not deal with customers. This is such a joke. And unfortunately the joke is on me. I guess the only route to go is to reach out to the Texas Department of Insurance and deal with them directly since I have tried working with AKC Pet Insurance directly and all I get is to be told I will get a call back.
