Absolutely disgraceful show!
I was one of many hundreds if not thousands that were appalled at the production we seen at the AO arena on 23rd December.
The whole show was an absolute disgrace and the producers should be ashamed for advertising trailers for something that was so different to what was performed.
The expectation was a breathtaking cirque style show, instead we got amateur actors, a poor stage set out, cheap props, disgusting "glory hole" jokes, plus racist comments, totally inappropriate for children! Dont even get me started on the "magic flying bicycle" as advertised on the trailer which was a bicycle placed on top of a golf buggy!
What I thought would be a pre Christmas treat. Instead it cost me over £400 to watch utter rubbish. An expensive night which was utterly disappointing.
Avoid any production put on by this company
I attended Wicked Wizard of Oz – A Cirque Spectacular in Birmingham (BP Pulse Live) with my family, and the entire event was an astonishing example of false advertising.
We paid £265.00 for what was marketed as a high‑quality, family‑friendly cirque production, yet we—along with hundreds of other families—walked out at the interval in complete disbelief. It’s clear from the sheer number of people leaving and the flood of complaints online that this isn’t a one‑off mistake; thousands of people have been misled and conned by this company’s promotional claims.
What we actually got was a shockingly amateur performance: weak choreography, basic acrobatics, sloppy staging, and baffling creative choices like a witch riding a golf cart and a Lion dressed in a tiger costume. Even worse, the show included adult‑themed content—such as an unnecessarily prolonged scene involving a cucumber and a “glory hole” joke—presented without any warning, despite the production being marketed directly at families with young children.
The production quality was nowhere near the premium prices charged, and the company’s dismissive, copy‑and‑paste responses to the growing number of complaints only added insult to injury. I am now pursuing a refund through my bank because the show was blatantly misrepresented from start to finish.
If you value your hard earned money, your time, and your family’s comfort, do not fall for this company’s false advertising.
Mis sold an adult cirque spectacular…
Mis sold an adult cirque spectacular event .. cast of five .. no cirque !
Witch riding round in top of a golf cart
Totally inappropriate jokes .. some were racist
At least half of every venue left befhre the interval
Shocking
This experience was horrendous
This experience was horrendous. I paid a lot for the tickets £95 then booking fee on top so was expecting what was advertised. The advert showed men doing acrobatics what
He had was basic acro by school kids that kept going wrong. What made me buy tickets... the advert showed the witch flying on a bike... what did we get. A good buggy with a bike attached on top. The disappointment is utterly disgusting that I was charged so much for tickets to a basic show nothing spectacular. I can see a west end show with good seats cheaper so when you look at that I was expecting the spectacular performance that was promised. Many people walked out around us was very empty around us by interval. Then a horrendous glory hole scene with a cucumber this was not appropriate. No warnings given!! Utterly waste of money!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY…
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY…
Total rip off. Show was a year 6 production at best. Crude inappropriate jokes.” Cirque not so spectacular “.
Ruined what was supposed to be a nice family day out.
Do not be fooled by the fake AI promo pictures. You will be left highly disappointed. No flying witch as advertised. She travelled on top of a golf cart. laughable for all the wrong reasons!!
Don’t. Just don’t. Watch paint dry or something instead.
If there was less than one star I would have given it that. If the racist, badly executed non family friendly fiasco wasn’t bad enough in itself (which it was!) then their hostile response to concerns and requests for refunds has to be in a league of its own! Do not go to see this appalling excuse for a show. Don’t give them your hard earned money. One of the performers actually told me that I should expect to be disappointed when booking a ticket, as all theatre performances aren’t good!!
Appalling company - ripping people off
Appalling company. Unable to even fulfill their own name. Attended a very small production on a huge stage at AO arena. Wicked Wizard of Oz. Utter rubbish. Budget on a shoe string. Props done by Blue Peter. Costume, Hair and Make up by the school nativity team. Ticket prices extortionate for something that would have been embarrassing to even put on in a community centre. Missold production with false advertising. Do not trust this company with your money. They shouldn't even have been paid in washers let alone the thousands they've had from these arena productions. For which thousands of people are appealing through claim back processes. You know its bad when complaints slips are handed out to you on exiting the show!
I am writing this to warn others
I am writing this to warn others: "Wicked Wizard of Oz: A Cirque Spectacular" is a blatant case of misleading advertising. I refused to attend the Glasgow performance at the OVO Hydro after seeing the "atrocious" and "diabolical" quality of the tour so far.
The OVO Hydro’s official marketing promised a "breath-taking evening with spectacular aerial stunts and amazing special effects". In reality, the "stunts" consist of a performer on a bicycle strapped to a moving golf cart. Branding this as a "Cirque Spectacular" is a complete fabrication designed to trick people into paying arena prices for an amateurish, low-budget production.
This is a clear breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which states services must match their description. The production values are pathetic, and the show has been plagued by technical failures and late starts.
Do not be fooled by the "Cirque" label—this is being described by hundreds of attendees as a scam worse than the "Willy Wonka" experience. I am demanding a full refund for this mis-sold event and have reported the matter to Trading Standards.
Avoid at all costs.
Awful with mass walkout
My family went to the Brighton showing of the Wicked Wizard of OZ and it was awful. Show started late due to technical issues just when we thought it had been sorted, it stopped again. We left at the interval but we experienced sound problems throughout, poor acrobatics (falling off equipment), offensive jokes about Donald trump, immigration and a 99 year old lady in the audience having no parents. False advertising, for example, a flying witch was in fact a bike attached to the top of a golf buggy.
Please avoid and don’t waste your money. There are 100’s of people now trying to claim back their money and no one (producers, venue or ticket sellers) are taking any accountability
GENUINELY MORTIFIED!
Genuinely incredibly shocked at how different this show is to the advert.
My partner and I chose The Wicked Wizard of Oz show to be our annual Christmas treat!
Throughout the first half of the show we were left recoiling at how inappropriate this show was, surrounded by children and horrified parents - the show was extremely s-e-x-u-a-l-l-y explicit, hard to follow and dull. We were waiting for the show to get better and showcase the ‘Cirque Spectacular’ bits that were advertised - they didn’t make an appearance .
We were present at the BP PULSE in Birmingham, there were sound issues and we could not hear what was being said throughout the show. At first we were shocked at how many people were leaving in droves from the beginning, once we’d ran out of patience we were among hundreds of people left the show at the interval.
We contacted Jon Conway himself, the Production company, the venue and the ticket company we purchased our tickets from AXS. There are various social media groups that have been deleted to silence the thousands who have had this awful experience. Various news channels have covered this bizarre term of events.
After having tried to pursue a refund or a resolution- many of us have been given generic emails to silence us. I am very confused how it’s the done thing to stop people from sharing their genuine and real experiences when so many of us are upset.
I’ve tried endless times to speak to someone and met with great rudeness and facetiousness.
How is this an actual company???!
I will continue trying to pursue a resolution.
We paid for VIP tickets, we aren’t sure what was VIP about it as we had nothing that everyone else seemed to have?
How is this allowed to happen?
The company advertised this show - many thousands booked and looked forward to it - for us to arrive and not witness anything that was advertised and genuinely walked out from it being so inappropriate.
Something needs to be done!
Again bizarre the company has had to pursue legal advice because they’ve had so many thousands of people try to contact them from such an awful experience. Very telling that they’d rather silence us than admit they’ve royally deceived us all.
Woeful wizard of Oz
Saw wizard of Oz. Nothing like the promos. It was solo basic. Just terrible
Shocking
Saw this "production" of wicked wizard of oz a Cirque spectacular,if you can call it that, in Hydro Glasgow on 27th December. Biggest load of garbage I've ever seen. Paid over £260 in tickets to take my granddaughter and daughters. Put waste of money. Mis sold, misadvertised, unsuitable content for children, racist remarks, an utter disgrace. Company won't refund and customer service is shocking. They should be ashamed of themselves
Steer clear 😡
Christmas “spectacular” it is not
Attended their Christmas “spectacular” in Birmingham which was a present to me. It was the worst show I have ever seen, nothing like advertised at all. Complaints have been put in and everyone has had a generic email back. We left the show at half time along with many others, they had printed out complaints forms as so many were asking for them.
The wicked witch did not fly, she went round on a golf card, the dancing was ok but nothing special for the show advertised. The Ariel artists and acrobats while I’m sure have worked hard and did their best were more amateur than professional. Some of the jokes were disgusting for children. I think the issue is the price people paid if I had paid the cost of a local pantomime I don’t think you could complain but for a professional show the price does not match the performance.
There response is childish and unprofessional and they have complained and had the Facebook groups down stating that it was ‘malicious’ where I fact it was people agreeing with the pitiful show they had seen. It really was that bad which is a shame as I was looking forward to it. Due to their attitude I would not book with them again and would not trust that I am watching what they promote.
Save your cash and go to a local Panto!
Wicked Wizard of Oz Cirque Spectacular
Paid £150 for my daughter and I to go to Ovo Hydro Glasgow to see this for a Christmas surprise. Certainly wasn’t a pleasant one; crude, cheap jokes inappropriate for a young audience. The cast tried hard with what they had to work with but the poor plot could barely maintain our interest.
The breathtaking cirque performances promised in the trailer turned out to be similar to what my daughter and her friends can produce in a gymnastics display.
Wicked witch on a golf cart, a transformer as the tin man, a mute tiger/lion hybrid and a Dolly Parton-esque Aunty Em were other “highlights”.
I will certainly not be wasting anymore of my hard earned cash on this company’s productions. They charged premium west end prices for this cheap end of pier quality show.
“There is no place like home” Dorothy mused in the original novel by L. Frank Baum. We agreed and left at the half time interval.
Do not watch any of their performances
Do not watch any of their performances. Do not purchase tickets - they are scamming people using AI promotional videos … the lion in their show is a tiger …. That alone shows how horrible this show is.
Completely mis‑sold and inappropriate for families
We attended Wicked Wizard of Oz – A Cirque Spectacular in Glasgow on 27th December and it was nothing like what was advertised. The marketing promised professional cirque‑style acrobatics, aerial stunts and a polished production. What we got was amateur, disjointed, and nowhere near the standard shown in the promotional video.
Worse still, the show included inappropriate scenes and racial remarks, despite being sold as family‑friendly. Our children were uncomfortable, and many families walked out.
For £179.50 for six tickets, this was a huge disappointment and absolutely not what we paid for. The responses from the venue and promoters have been generic and dismissive, failing to address the misleading advertising or the inappropriate content.
I would not recommend this show to anyone.
Wicked Wizard of Oz in Brighton
We saw Wicked Wizard of Oz in Brighton Centre on 16th December. I've never seen such a badly put together show. The promotional video was nothing like the shit show we witnessed. People were leaving at interval. See Facebook for other reviews. We are all trying to get refunds as it was an expensive night £147 for 3 tickets. The Company are refusing refunds
Do not waste your money
I saw the wizard of oz a cirque spectacular on December 21st 2025 at Birmingham bp pulse.
Well spectacular it wasn’t. Our vip tickets cost £243 for 3 tickets.
The worst show I’ve ever seen. Terrible staging, acting and singing. The circus acts were amateurish. The costumes were awful. The show contained totally inappropriate parts thar were not suitable for younger children. I’ve honestly seen better school productions. Thousands of people are unhappy and many people were leaving during intervals.
Do not waste your money. I will never go to anything that this company put on.
They should not be allowed to continue and mislead people into thinking they are going to watch something spectacular when in reality it is not.
Went to watch Wicked Wizard of Oz…
Went to watch Wicked Wizard of Oz Cirque at AO Arena in Manchester.
Paid £60 a ticket and was the biggest waste of money we've ever spent. We left at the interval. Inappropriate scenes and comments. When leaving the arena a security guard stated over 800 people have left the show.
Tried to get a refund which has been impossible. Please dont be tricked by the company's reviews and comments on their own websites, social media as they delete the negative comments.
Don’t waste your money
Don’t waste your money seeing these “shows” you will be leave feeling ripped off, probably in the interval. This company falsely advertise shows to be “spectacular” and that they are not. Amateur performance and contains inappropriate content for children. The trailer shows staging and acts not in the show. I’ve seen better acrobatics at my daughter gymnastics club. And all at Christmas time! A excitable festive family night out ending in huge disappointment. This company are laughing to the bank. £75 a ticket!
