Misleading Advertising Poor Quality Show
Misleading Advertising – Not worthy of even 1 star
We attended Wicked Wizard of Oz – A Cirque Spectacular at AO Arena Manchester on 23 December 2025, having bought four VIP tickets over 12 months in advance based on the advertising.
The show was promoted as a “breath-taking cirque staging” and “world-class production”, with prominent use of the word Cirque. In the UK, this reasonably implies a high-quality, professional cirque-style show. What was delivered bore little resemblance to that description.
The performance was amateurish and poorly structured, with basic, poorly integrated circus acts and very little pantomime. Some content was highly inappropriate for the family audience it encouraged in the marketing.
Large numbers of people left during the first half and at the interval. Venue staff were proactively directing people to exits and handing out complaint slips, suggesting this reaction was anticipated.
The VIP experience was also misrepresented, with obstructed views and a low-value “goody bag”.
This is not about taste — it is about misleading advertising and service not as described. I would strongly caution others before booking as their promo videos suggest a polished performance that is definitely not borne out in the final
production
Disappointing and huge waste of money
We went to see the Wicked Wizard of Oz cirque Spectacular in Manchester.
We had restricted view due to a lighting rig, tickets were not advertised as such.
The sound, lighting and staging was so poor that it was hard to keep track of who was speaking and you couldn't hear the singing over the base.
The stage was far too small for the size of the arena.
The "cirque" tricks were amateurish and not as advertised in the promotional material.
Overall we were so disappointed, that it is the first time I have ever attempted to get a refund for a show I have seen, and it has been refused.
Extremely disappointing and I will be making sure that I never go and see anything produced by this company again.
Wicked wizard of oz in Birmingham
I went to see Wicked wizard of oz in Birmingham 22nd Dec 2025. What an absolute load of rubbish. I purchased 4 tickets based on the shows advertising which described it as a breath taking cirque spectacular, with jaw dropping stunts and dazzling effects. It was nothing like the description. The promo video shows a huge stage setup but what we got was a stage the size of a tennis court with a screen with the view partially blocked by equipment hanging down. Advertised as family friendly yet included inappropriate jokes and a glory hole scene. Advertising shows the wicked witch suspended by wires flying, what we got was a witch on a bike bolted to the top of a golf cart. They didnt even try and disguise it. We had a lion in a tiger suit, a Transformer as the tin man. Sound was awful, too loud and echoing. Hard work working out what was being said amongst all the other noise. Microphones kept cutting out. Lighting was rubbish. The few circus acts were very poor. Many people walked out. If this had been less than £10 a ticket then I wouldn't have a problem, but for what i had paid for 4 tickets and the extremely poor show we received it was totally unacceptable. The shows are falsely advertised to mislead you and draw you in. At the end of the show they were collecting for a charity which there is no trace of online. One of the production directors has since confirmed its not a charity but a division of their company. Again more false information to mislead customers. Sadly the production company are now deleting any negative comments and blocking people. There was a group set up on Facebook to support dissatisfied customers that had nearly 3000 members and was growing fast. The production company complained and had it shut down. If you are planning to see a show produced by Worlds biggest productions i would avoid at all costs.
False advertising
False advertising .
It’s a budget panto for families with young kids . (Not a very good one though )
But prices , venues and adverts make out as though it’s so much more .
I took my family to Manchester on 23rd December and after everyone asked to leave we went home at the interval
I took my daughter to this scam
I took my daughter to this scam, instead of our usual panto, we went to the Glasgow show on 28th december, we managed to suffer it till the interval, in the hope it would get better, but it didnt, would have left before if we wernt in the middle of a row, this was far from spectacular, I wasted hour of my life i wont get back again, not to mention the cost of the tickets, had to spend more money after leaving, to make the rest of the day better, so not to let my daughter down further, We attend amature productions regulary & have never seen anything as terible as this, nothing was decent 🙈 lion in a tiger costume, Tin man like a trasformer, witch going round in a golf buggy, not flying a broomstick as shown on advert, sound quality was terible, not that that would have made any difference to the rest of the mess of things, trapease looked terified to be 12ft high sitting in a hoop, poor girls & poor actors having to perform this nightmare, a 5yr old could have wrote a better script.Doesnt deserve any stars but had to give 1 to write reveiw.
Wicked Wizard of Oz Cirque Spectacular.
Wicked Wizard of Oz Cirque Spwctacular.
I paid for the whole family to visit Leeds Arena. The marketing promised a show not to be missed. Cleverly edited videos made the event look comparablw to a cirque de soliel with Wizard of Oz twist. I was expecting the whole family to be blown away.
We were all really disappointed. The stage was dwarfed by the arena. The story didn't flow and was rushed in places. The cast really struggled to get the crowd going, prompting for responses. There were inappropriate jokes involving a cucmber.
Many of the crowd left at half time. I felt I had let my family down as they were bored and uninspired.
The marketing is very misleading as was the cleverly edited PR video.
Please avoid. I waster almost £1000 on rhis and the company wont acknowledge that they mislead the public!
The woeful wicked wizard of Oz.
I attended the Birmingham performance and what a disappointment. The tickets were a premium price however the quality of the performers and contents of the show was well below the standard of what was advertised and what I expected (due to the pricing of the tickets).
I will not book with this company again and would not recommend the show.
Awful show
Advertisement completely misold the production of The Wicked Wizard of Oz.
Was an amature, lacklustre, offensive show. Was nothing like what they advertised.
Walked out before it finished.
1000s of people have complained and tried to get their money back to no avail.
DO NOT pay to see any of their shows it is a rip off
Total scam to what was advertised
We saw this production in Birmingham on the 21st December after booknig the tickets back in May for £125 for 2 tickets. This was booked after watching the amazing advertising clips. What we got was the worst show I have ever seen. The set was non existent, the costumes poor. Totally inappropriate material with sexual innuendo. A witch that instead of flying was attached to the top of a golf cart. The lion was in a Tiger suit , the tin man was dressed as a transformer A storyline that was far removed from the Wizard of Oz story. Circus stills that were basic and I've seen better performances from high school students. People left in droves at half time as it really was horrific. Company are refusing any sort of refund. They totally contravened what they advertised we were supposed to be getting
Very poor
Very poor. Not as advertised show.
Misleading and amateurish.
Absolutely awful show
Absolutely awful show. Feel like this company are criminals steeling hard earned money off people. Totally misleading advertising, the show was nothing like the advertising. Totally inappropriate for children!! Part of the show was using a cucumber through a hole representing a mans bits shall i say being chopped off. Absolutely shocking beyond belief. Left at the internal. Paid a small fortune for tickets. My daughters school xmas production better than this
Terrible
Terrible, terrible production of Wicked Wizard of Oz Spectacular. Was a spectacularly horrendous show and I echo all the reviews which outline what a shoddy, amateur showit was which our family walked out of with 100s of others in Manchester. Seeking compensation.
The Woeful Wizard of Oz
This was the worst show we have ever seen. It contained racism, inappropriate humour that was sexually risqué, and generally poor continuity and theatrics.
It was that poor we left at the interval, demanding our money back. They have since done everything in their power to deny responsibility and obfuscate liability.
If you ever have the opportunity to see one of their shows, please don’t.
Zero stars if I could
Zero stars if I could.
Saw The Wizard of Oz in Birmingham December 2025. What an absolutely dreadful experience, certainty not worthy of an arena venue. Booked after watching video trailers & advertising promotions but the show turned out to be nothing like that which was advertised. The whole thing was amateurish especially the 'spectacular acrobatics' . Many audience members walked out at the interval. I will never use this production company again!
This was the worst thing I’ve ever seen
This was the worst thing I’ve ever seen. There wasn’t anything good about it. even the seating was not suitable for those on stall seats as the venue was far too big and this production would have been more suitable for a church hall or a school assembly at a push!! The costumes was terrible, the witches makeup was neither on or off , the sound was terrible, the story line I was just confused from start to finish. Whoever wrote the story line to this is delusional. The “acrobatics” were amateurish and the girl fell off the sea saw several times , surprised she didn’t break her neck! The witch on the golf cart left people looking in totally disbelief. Everyone around us walked out . There was no one at all in the two rows behind us and those in front and beside us left. It was embarrassing for the staff at the Glasgow Hydro and for the price of the tickets they should be ashamed of themselves. To ask for your money back is impossible as the guy Jonathan Conway owns the company and his son Jordon Conway played the scarecrow , so they are not going to give back your ticket money as they make the decisions and they think the public is in the wrong . They will unfortunately not get my payments for any future shows under these cowboys!
Please avoid at all cost !
Zero stars
Zero stars - couldn’t be any less spectacular if they tried. Avoid.
Worst show ever - school shows are better
Show was totally misleading - nothing that I saw in the sponsored ads on fb, which made me want to buy tickets for my birthday day out, actually happened in the show in Glasgow. They are all liars and real life grifters! Don’t waste your hard earned money going to see this nonsense. Myself and 3 kids left at interval it was so dismal. Don’t believe a word they say. Wasted £210! Nothing but thieves.
𝗪𝗼𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🌪
𝗪𝗼𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🌪
Wicked Wizard of Oz manages to take a beloved story and strip it of everything magical. What’s left is a confused, cut-price mess that feels more like a badly funded and unrehearsed pantomime.
The trailer is genuinely impressive, captivating, dramatic and full of promise...the reason I bought the tickets as a Mothers Day Gift. The actual show, however bears very little resemblance to what’s being sold.
Cheap props, a soulless digital screen standing in for proper sets and costumes that look like they came from a clearance sale in B&M all combine to create a production that feels low-effort. When did Lions get their stripes ?
There’s barely a story line, scenes go from one awkward moment to the next with no flow and the minimal cast struggles to fill the stage or the glaring gaps in the plot. The so-called “cirque” experience is laughable: the acrobatics are extremely basic at times looking like they could injure themselves, the dancing is mediocre and nothing ever approaches the level of skill or spectacle you’d expect in the Hydro.
The tone is equally confused. A forced, uncomfortable panto-style humour clashes badly with distasteful adult jokes, some of which are uncomfortably racist. Instead of feeling edgy or clever, it just comes across as lazy, distasteful and NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY.
The acting is cringeworthy, with performances that wouldn’t look out of place in a primary school production. In fact school shows have more heart, creativity and an all round performance, this show is claiming to be professional.
What makes it worse is the price. Tickets are set at a cost you’d expect for a West End show, yet what’s delivered feels bargain-bucket at best. When a show describes itself as the World’s Biggest Production and combining the magic of cirque with the charm of a classic tale, you expect, at the very least, magic or charm. This has neither.
The show was on in Glasgow for two days too many, this is a production that massively overpromises and dramatically underdelivers. The idea might be good on paper, but the execution is shockingly poor.
Save your money & time - DONT GO.

Awful!
Spent £300 on a much anticipated show for my family as a Christmas surprise. Over an hour travelling each way plus other expenses only to attend a children's pantomime that would have been more suitable in a local community centre at £10 a ticket! Disgusted at Glasgow Hydro for advertising and allowing this company to rip people off by 'performing' in this venue. Disgusted at Ticketmaster for wrongly advertising this show as a 'cirque, spectacular, jaw dropping show' and refusing to offer any refunds, and Disgusted that this company are getting away with this scam! I was left embarrassed, explaining to my family this was not what I paid for. Now, even though this company is inundated with bad reviews, thousands of audience members walking out mid show, newspapers and social media involvement, still they refuse to do the right thing and offer refunds for this awful show. They are advertising for this year again. Do yourself and your pocket a favour and don't go! Should be ashamed of themselves!
Wizard of oz
Went to see the cirque spectacular in Leeds. Absolutely dreadful, racism age inappropriate jokes and an amateurish performance. Overpriced misleading and certainly not what was Advertised. The company are unwilling to listen to complaints and dismissed all negative feedback
