Long ship times
Long ship times, and slow/poor customer service ruined it. The fit/cuts are also odd in my opinion but I'm not a fashion expert. The material is fabulous, which is the only redeeming quality.
Promos Silently Removed + Full-Price Customer-Paid Exchanges
Used a valid Black Friday promo on a single cart, lost it due to their checkout behavior, then got blamed for “taking advantage” of their policy and paid multiple shipping charges plus my own return label. Their “exchanges” are just new full-price orders with no promo and customer-paid returns. Tech issues + rigid policies + defensive customer service = I won’t be back.
The denim gave out with minimal wear.
I bought a pair of cone denim jeans, which cost more than the usual Dearborn Denim I buy but I thought Id see what the selvage fuss was all about. Loved them as soon as I got them and ordered another pair. I loved them right until the 10th wear or so when the denim just gave out in an important area. Hadn't even washed them yet because I wore them sparingly and doing anything more active than walking to the office. Really, really disappointed. Customer service offered basically a 10% credit on a future purchase. For a business like this, I really expected them to stand behind their product better.
Do not purchase
Do not purchase. The company sizing is off. Even after purchasing a pair that I returned for too small I was told to
go up from a 37 to a 40. 37 was way too small. 40 was HUGE ON ME. Most 37 fit fine. Some 38 if they recommend going up. They have no clue. I think their quality in cutting is off. Way off. Their customer service is awful. The people responding are rude and take zero accountability. The times are estimates but they deliver no where close to estimates. Most people miss the season they pre purchased for. They blocked me for bad review and held my pending orders indefinitely. 2 month delay. Quality is ok for most part but a few button holes and stitching have come undone. So tailoring is required at an early stage. I would avoid it for the cost and time.
Deeply unimpressed for the price
If you want to bust out of a button down shirt, Gustin is for you!
Got the electric homespun shirt in Ocean, which is a beautiful fabric. However, in wearing the shirt, the buttons are too small for the buttonholes, so I was popping out of my shirt all the time. Additionally, the sleeve openings at the cuff are off and flare out when the cuffs are buttoned. Just a weird and disappointing shirt for the price. Get Freenote, Indogofera or Ginew. Much better tailoring and fit.
Save Your Money…
I took the leap last year and ordered three articles of clothing from them: two shirts and a pair of selvedge jeans. It’s quite possibly the worst apparel purchasing decision I have made in a long time.
Flannel shirt material is nice, and the fit is okay. However, they manufactured the shirt with buttons which are so small they do not hold in the button holes. Customer service did eventually send new buttons, which I had to take to a tailor to replace. They basically laughed off the entire incident.
The denim shirt is so stiff, it feels like a straightjacket.
I sized the jeans up as recommended, but it is still torture to get them on and they are very constricting. It’s a shame, since the fabric is unique.
Not to mention their care/laundering instructions are absurdly restrictive.
If you want interesting, unusual fabrics which fit poorly and are overpriced, then Gustin is for you.
Stay far away
Stay far away. Their clothes fit very very weird. I've ordered their shirts and their jeans and both are made for an extremely thin person. For jeans, if you aren't rail thin, you'll need to size up multiple sizes, giving you a massive waist size. For shirts, you'll need to size up at least one size and then arms and torso are going to be WAY too long.
And despite having an in stock store section, they don't allow refunds and only store credit. So, if like me, nothing of theirs fits you, your only option is to sell second hand. Which case you'll lose 2/3 of your money. Spent $400 on their clothes and got $150 back selling second hand.
I will never do business with this company again.
I decided to take the chance to…
I decided to take the chance to purchase from Gustin, as a small business owner I want to help the "microbrands." What I discovered from Gustin was nothing short of utter disappointment. I ordered 3 pairs of paints, a linen, denim and khaki (don't remember their specific names). All made for people with giraffe legs. The quality was abhorrently low, hems with overlap, material so thin, buttons sewn skewed. I realize, that Gustin and so many micro brands are spending so much on social media and customer acquisition that they have lost the focus on their product. Let's create amazing products and allow genuine consumers to sing your praises and not spend on fake "enfluencers" and social media...end rant
So far off
So far off. Nothing fits. Long wait. Just go anywhere else.
Over a Decade of Passionately Delivering Exceptional Quality Products
I've been a loyal customer to Gustin for at least 10 years now- starting with only a pair of raw jeans- to a pair of beautifully faded raw selvedge jeans and a closet full of other extremely high quality shirts, jeans, chinos, wool clothing, leather bags, jackets, and shoes, and much more.
It's very apparent that as a customer, quality is the most important element of each of their products. Additionally, the Gustin team is small and personable, with each experience being consistently pleasant, caring, thoughtful, and extremely supportive.
I've had a lot of trouble with men's clothing retailers like J. Crew or similar in the past and those retailers have made it very clear that their focus is strictly only on their bottom line, resulting in a god awful support experience and continuously degrading quality.
It is so unbelievably refreshing to know that I can put my trust & faith into their team and rely on them to ALWAYS prioritizing their products, quality, and the customer experience. It really is not a challenge to remain loyal when every product is high quality, cost effective, and you can feel the love & passion for the product exuding from them.
A note to first buyers, purchasing from Gustin is definitely a different experience than you'll see at most other places and can be unnerving to wait for your products to be made. However, it is absolutely, esceedingly worth it once you receive products with exceptional quality and construction for a fraction of what other retailers would sell it for (though it's unlikely you'd get the same quality from anybody else).
I would encourage anybody to thoughtfully read the sizing guides on their first purchase as the true sizing can be new to many. Also, I've gotten into the habit of buying clothing in advance of when I need it. When I start on a new pair of jeans, I'll buy one or two pairs then. When I ruin a button down with a stain, I start looking for a new shirt on Gustin, etc.

Sizing was off by a large margin
Sizing was off by a large margin. I realize that each company has individual differences when it comes to waist sizes. However, but the length and the waist were off by 3+ inches, which makes it impossible to recommend them to anyone.
No quality control
No quality control. You aren’t saving money when the products are too shoddy to even want to wear. Just buy something for more money from a quality company and know you’ll get lots of use out of it. Tried these guys because they’ve had some really cool fabrics but the pants I ordered are total trash. Not worth the money and certainly not worth ordering fall clothes in fall just to get it the next spring. Interesting business model and would be cool if they could face managed to turn out quality products for the price doing it this way.
Avoid this company; poor quality control and terrible return policy
If only I had read the reviews (both here and elsewhere) before ordering a pair of jeans from Gustin! I ordered a pair of 1968 selvedge jeans during a "campaign" (where you pre-order at a set price and wait until it's "funded" for your order to ship). After a first-time buyer discount, shipping and sales tax, my total was $106. After about 7 weeks, my order shipped. Even though I had read and followed Gustin's instructions about their sizing, the jeans were way too small. I usually wear a waist 33; I measured a pair that fit well and the waist measured 33 1/4, so I ordered a size 34 (which, according to Gustin's web site, measures 34.5 inches). When I measured the jeans I received, the waist measured 32.5 inches. I reported the problem to Gustin, who told me my only option was to return the jeans (at my cost) for a store credit. While that return policy is posted, it shouldn't apply to jeans that are manufactured 2 inches smaller than the listed size. After I mailed back the defective jeans (at my own cost of $16.65), Gustin did process the return quickly and (after I had complained about the mis-sized jeans), did refund $106 to my credit card (along with a useless $5 store credit). At the end of the day, I'm out $16.65 and a whole lot of wasted time and aggravation.
If, after reading the scores of negative reviews, you are still foolish enough to order jeans from Gustin, I'd recommend ordering at least two sizes up from your normal size. But even then it's a crapshoot due to their poor quality control. Best off to avoid them altogether. Shop locally where you can try on the jeans to make sure they fit. Less hassle for you and better for your community.
Frankenshirt
Frankenshirt. Not a single measurement on this shirt conforms to Gustin’s “Fit Guide” for an XS Regular fit. Chest and waist measurements are inches smaller than listed. While shoulders, center back length, and sleeve length closer to a size LARGE.
They sent the wrong sized pant
They sent the wrong sized pant. They refused to accept the return since it was outside the return policy….looking elsewhere it appears this is the name of their game. They can’t even label the clothes correctly
Do your research before purchasing
I ordered a Large shirt from Gustin and received a shirt that fits like a Small. It matches the Small on their websites sizing chart. I reached out to Gustin and they were willing to give me store credit as long as I pay to ship the item back to them. The internet is littered with reviews that their sizing is consistently incorrect and they aren't willing to do much to own up to their mistakes. Please do your own research before purchasing from Gustin. It's a roll of the dice if you are just throwing your money away with every purchase.
Give people their money back you blatantly mess up.
Absurd business model
Absurd business model. Spend a lot of money on clothes (that they say are actually a great price) take months to get. The fit is incredibly tight even for the straight jeans and they only have two inseam options 32" and 34". I am 6'4" and they were at least 2" too long.
When I contacted customer service to get a refund the representative said that he has to have all of his Gustin pants hemmed? What? I have to get my pants hemmed after I get them? Then they won't give you a refund just credit so that you can buy more poorly fitting over priced clothes. The quality of the denim did feel nice though. Would stay clear of this site as there are so many others that are better. Learn from my mistake.
Ridiculous prices for items that take…
Ridiculous prices for items that take months to ship even after they are crowdfunded.
My last item I ordered shipped so late that I had already moved out of my old place and they shipped it there without telling me the item was ready to ship from the crowdfunding.
If you run into an issue with an order, their customer service team will brush you off and rudely decline to help.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY OR GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR MONEY!
Gustin is demanding I update this review, so I will:
My order never arrived. Gustin refused to replace it and refused to refund my money. They just told me to order something else. They refused to respond to my BBB complaint. They finally issued a refund, but only after I began posting on all of their social media posts that they refused to offer a refund. So there, you have it. My review is updated. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY OR GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR MONEY!
I ordered some jeans
I ordered some jeans. I didn't get any tracking info in over a week . So I reached out to them. I was told it will take 8 weeks for me to actually receive anything I ordered......I immediately canceled the order. It has to be the DUMBEST BUSINESS MODEL KNOWN TO MAN......Who waits two months for something they ordered online....How could anyone think this business model would retain customers.
