Like a bad ex or a stray dog
I initially corresponded with Verkada around four years ago (I don't remember if they reached our to me first or I found them) regarding a visitor management system. A couple of very friendly sales folks came to our facility and gave us a demo, then set us up with a test unit to use for a couple of months. It didn't have all the functionality we were looking for, so we went in a different direction. I've been trying to shake them ever since.
For at least a couple of years, I got weekly calls, emails, and LinkedIn messages from people with their company. Sometimes they wanted to see if our needs had changed, but often they were unaware we'd ever done the demo in the first place. I finally started blocking their numbers and email addresses. They seem to have an infinite number of salespeople, though, and they kept coming. I eventually stopped answering their calls (conveniently, they always show up as Verkada on caller ID).
After getting sick of doing that, I finally answered one day. I explained the situation to the sales rep, and she promised to take me off their list. Of course, I received another call the very next day. This guy said he was our regional sales director (or something like that), and he he actually could take me off the list.
That worked for maybe a few months, then the calls resumed (I got one just a few minutes ago, prompting this review). Their sales tactics are relentless and insufferable, and I recommend never acknowledging their existence unless you know for sure you're actually going to buy from them. I fed the stray dog once, and now I can't get it off my porch. Learn from my mistake.
They may have some great products, but I'll never find out. Their sales tactics have completely soured me on the entire organization.
