Purchased a maple tree 11 months ago and it recently up and died despite good care. Support team addressed the issue promptly and replaced the tree. I was a bit disappointed that I had to pay the shipping, but that's business I guess!

Trees.com pulls a scam sending dying twigs
BUYER BEWARE of Trees.com as they pull a scam sending you almost dead twigs with severely pruned roots and so few leaves that the twig trees die with 1 or 2 weeks. They will send you one and only one replacement if you pay around $16.00 for shipping but it will be in even worse shape than the first dying twig they send you. I have grown seedlings myself from other types of trees that had more roots in a couple months than the twigs that Trees,com sends you. You pay for an overpriced tree thinking you will get a healthy tree and you just get dying twigs sent to you that they call a tree. Do not buy anything from Trees.com if you want a healthy tree that has any chance of survival and their customer service is just rude and says sorry we already sent you one replacement that you paid for shipping on and even if it died within one week nothing you can do.

Refused a full refund (which is illegal)
Paid $1000 for trees that were supposed to be 3-4 feet tall. Not a single tree was the height that we purchased. They asked for photos, we sent them.
Alessandro (their lead customer support specialist) agreed with the photos that the trees “did not meet the advertised height” but could only offer us a “meaningful accommodation” of a 40% refund. That is illegal in the state of Illinois.
Do not use this company. We are filing complaints with BBB and the state of AG.

I have had very bad experience with then. Ordered 13 trees and 4 are dead in a month. Upon contacting the customer service I was told they can send me 1 tree and for other 3 I have to pay shipping. It was the same order and the excuse they are giving is they were delivered couple of days apart. Would not recommend them at all.
Update: After the aforementioned ordeal the team agreed to send me the replacement at no shipping cost.

Major Update!! On 10/16/2026, customer service reached out to me and we were able to come up with a resolution. They listened to my concerns and complaints and found a way to fix the issues. I am very content with my experience and have updated my review.

We also want to clarify that our change from Fast Growing Trees to Trees.com was simply a rebrand. It’s a simpler name for the same company, team and plant support. Regarding the blackberry, we understand the wait has been much longer than expected. We don’t want to ship a plant before it meets our nursery’s standards, and we truly appreciate your patience. We’re also sorry the live chat experience made getting help with the other trees more difficult. Photos, scratch tests and care details help our plant experts assess their condition, but the process should still feel straightforward. We can see that you’re now corresponding with our team by email, and we’ll continue working with you there to address the outstanding concerns.

I wrote a review earlier describing a very bad customer service experience with Trees.com (formerly Fast Growing Trees). I was sold a Maple tree from Trees.com and it arrived in pretty bad shape and ultimately died. I contacted Trees.com and was told that the tree I was sold would not thrive in my homes climate and that they would not honor their guarantee. I was very disappointed, thus my review. Well today I am happy to report that Trees.com customer service reached out and have given me full credit on my original purchase. That's all I was hoping for so thanks to Trees.com for doing the right thing and restoring my faith in their company.

I've purchased trees and bushes from Trees.com (Fast Growing Trees) for the past few years. This year, I purchases an apple tree, plum tree, cherry tree, blackberry and blueberry bushes, a patio peach tree, banana trees, and a palm tree. I've consulted w/ their plant experts when I have had problems, and I've reached out to customer service for a replacement. I've had excellent service from everyone at the company I've worked with. Highly recommend Trees.com!

Disappointing first experience
I don’t like leaving negative reviews, and honestly, this is my first experience with this company.
I ordered a 1-gallon Red Dragon Japanese Maple, advertised as being 1 to 2 feet tall. The little tree arrived in apparently good condition.
However, the trunk has a very noticeable graft union. The lower portion is green, while the upper portion is brown, creating an unattractive and unnatural appearance.
I contacted the company, explained my concerns, and sent them pictures. Their response was that these trees are supposed to look that way.
However, after reviewing the customer photos and reviews on their website, I couldn’t find a single example showing such an obvious graft union, despite their insistence that this is normal.
I’ll let you judge for yourselves. Take a look at the pictures and draw your own conclusions.
Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don’t think I’ll be purchasing from this company again.

scam style Customer service/ insurance
Despite purchasing the insurance, they refuse to replace 3 of the trees I purchased that arrived dead. Every request they have made for pictures, descriptions, watering schedule etc.. have been provided, but this is clearly a ploy to avoid replacing dead trees. 4 months of 10 emails back and forth, and they still have not refunded or replaced.
Addendum- now that they have read this review, they have offered to replace the trees, after 10 months of back and forth emails... Only if I PAY the shipping, despite having paid the insurance for the purchase.
