Just back from Egypt, had the holiday of a lifetime, met a great bunch of people, tours food every thing organised from start to finish, but my praise goes to dodi,our tour guide,nothing was a bother to him, the information he provided on the tour. Well done dodi

We traveled to India in mid Feb 26 with Travel Dept. The trip was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed it. If you have not been to India , just go..it's an experience! The Guide Mr. Anurag (" Anu") really made the trip for us. From the minute we arrived to departure he took care of absolutely everything. His knowledge and story telling was just brilliant. We learned so much about the culture and people. If you are going to India with Travel Dept, ask if Anu is your guide, you will thank me!

We have just returned from a trip to Egypt with the Travel Department. This was the trip of a lifetime and it didn't disappoint. from the start our guide, Dodi Fathy was marvellous. He is an Egyptologist and was most knowledgeable on this amazing civilisation. In addition we shared the experience with a lovely sociable group of people from the four corners of Ireland. we experienced all the incredible sights and
sounds of Egypt in a safe and well-organised fashion. The hotel, the Nile Cruise, the last two days in Hurghada-a beach resort- all went perfectly. It was a well thought-out trip that ticked all our boxes. Well done Travel Department and Dodi!

We had a fantastic trip to Egypt with the Travel Department. We woke up on our first morning to an amazing view of the pyramids from our hotel! This trip took us from the fabulous Grand Egyptian Museum and the pyramids in Cairo to a tranquil Nile cruise with stunning scenery and fascinating temples and finally a stay at the Red Sea. Our fellow travellers were all so lovely and easy to get along with. Many thanks to our wonderful guide Dodi who looked after us all so well from our arrival to our departure in Cairo. He is an outstanding tour guide. Finally I would highly recommend the safari excursion from Hurghada. I booked it primarily for the camel ride but the dune buggy, quad bike ride and safari were so much fun!

We recently had a wonderful 12 day trip to Egypt. The overall planning was truly excellent and we were fortunate in having an exceptional guide in 'Dodi'. His breath of knowledge and constant good humour made it all so special. We covered all the major sites from Cairo to Aswan. The river cruise was a delight. Our special thanks to 'Dodi' for catering for our gluten free dietary requirements. Top class!

Just completed a trip to Malta. The trip was well organised from start to finish. We had an excellent guide ‘Giselle’ who gave us very comprehensive information and went out of her way to ensure we had a memorable experience . Our visit to Gozo and Medina gave us free time to explore check out the local sights.
Christopher looked after our transfers to and from the airport he willingly assisted with awkward baggage and helped at airport check in. Most of our fellow travellers were regulars with the T Dept and all seemed very happy.

My recent trip to Egypt will be a really positive memory for a long time. The incredible sights, museums, history, the journey down the Nile and the final relaxing days at the Red Sea all combined to make it a brilliant experience. The expertise, interest and friendliness of our tour guide, Dodi, played a significant part in making this holiday such a wonderful experience for the group. An experience worthy of a place on any bucket list.

Egypt was just amazing we were escorted every step of the way by our fabulous tour guide Dodi who was absolutely brilliant with his in depth knowledge of history and culture we all learned a lot plus he had patience and humor and a contagious smile! Recently returned from a fantastic holiday in Egypt with my wife, and it has definitely set the bar for all future holidays. The whole trip was unforgettable. Egypt itself was incredible — in Cairo, we visited the Grand Egyptian Museum with its twelve galleries, including Tutankhamun’s artefacts and the iconic golden death mask, before travelling to the Giza Plateau to see the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza.
We then sailed along the Nile from Luxor, exploring so many breathtaking temples. We even had the chance to visit the Old Cataract Hotel, where Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile, before finishing the trip with a few relaxing days in Hurghada on the Red Sea.
As others have already said, the experience wouldn’t have been the same without the brilliant group we travelled with — and especially our tour guide, Dodi, whose time, knowledge, and insights made the trip truly exceptional.

Just back from a fabulous trip to Egypt which has been on our bucket list for some time. Our tour guide Dodi made the whole experience very enjoyable. His knowledge of ancient Egypt was illuminating. Whether it was the Grand Egyptian museum in Cairo, the pyramids at Giza or the temples of Luxor and Karnak he was both informative and funny in equal measure. Sailing up/down the Nile was a complete pleasure and ending the trip in Hurghada was wonderful having driven across the desert for four hours. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Cataract hotel is Aswan where Agatha Christie stayed. We had a lovely group of people on this trip which made it special. This trip has inspired me to return to Egypt again and revisit the GEM and Luxor.

This was a dream come true. I have been fascinated by ancient Egypt from I was little and this trip fulfilled a life's ambition and more! There was no way we could have experienced and seen so much by booking and doing it ourselves, there was so much we wouldn't even have known about! Our guide Dodi was amazing, not only with his superb knowledge but his interacting and participation with the great bunch of people we met on the trip. He knew us all by name and was a key factor to creating such a memorable experience.

12 days in Egypt from Dublin with Travel Department were a memorable experience, in a good way. The organisation was excellent, accommodation and transport flawless, and the sites and cultural experiences beyond expectations. However what made it outstanding were the people, both in the group but more importantly the care, humour and expertise of our qualified Egyptologist tour guide "Dodi" Fathy. ***** Thank you for a memorable journey down the Nile.

Slovenia in April 2026. Travel dept changed dates in November, giving an option to cancel, which I didn’t want to. Then in January 2026 they then changed destination airport (Venice)to a 2.5 bus trip to/from hotel, and also later flight time meaning arrival to hotel would be well after midnight (making “day 1” of a short break a total right off). I would never have signed up for the revised travel plans that required such a long bus ride and reduced time at destination so I cancelled. They won’t refund me or give a credit note for my €200 deposit. Disappointed in how they handled the matter, using their t&c as a means to get out of refund.
Dear TD, I respectfully point out that your reply to me is inaccurate. On 12/11/25 you changed the flight date Dublin to Trieste (but not the destination airport) with a delay of one day, giving travellers the option to cancel and I chose not to as the change of date was acceptable to me. However on 28/1/26 you then changed the outbound Dublin flight from the original destination airport of Trieste to Venice - a much further bus ride from Venice to Slovenia and it was also a later flight time meaning we’d arrive to hotel past midnight and day one would be a write-off and less time in Slovenia. I do feel that three changes by TD which negatively impact a short break was very disappointing.

Looking into doing the trip to Romania and Transylvania, any opinions on this tour for an active 51 year old

The guide, Laura was outstanding. One of the best we have come across. She is a huge asset to the company. The hotel is very centrally located in Montecatini, has very helpful staff and the rooms are spotless and comfortable. It exudes old world charm. The tours were very well chosen and most interesting. The optional tour to a vineyard for lunch was well worth taking. The only small negative is the long transfer from Milan/Linate airport. It would seem that Pisa is a better option.

We travelled with TD to Vietnam early November. Hadn't been on a guided tour before,usually do all booking and reservations myself.
What a great trip, our guide Tuan was incredible. Problems solved with minimal fuss and an encyclopedia of Vietnam.
We've booked a Nile Cruise with TD next year. Tops.

We had a wonderful time in Tuscany. Everything was to our satisfaction and our guide Laura was very informative and very helpful throughout the whole trip. Bellisimo!

Everything going well the guide very good and helpful with a great sense of humour. Only problem the hotel in anteverga has no tea and coffee in rooms. Not very hospitality.
