Had a really disappointing experience with the BYOB Pottery class. Little guidance, rushed from the start - if you didn't manage something first time the "teacher" would just come round and do it for you instead. Explanations were quick and hard to follow and you weren't really give a chance to try yourself. When the wheel bit was done the instructor disappeared without a word and left us with someone else who made it very clear as we were the last class of the day that he wanted us out of there as soon as possible. Instructions on painting were brief and not really explained well and the microwave we were supposed to use wasn't working properly. Having already paid almost £100 for the privilege, you then have to fork out another £20 for the 2 pots to be glazed. Was bought as a gift and both left really underwhelmed and feeling it was a waste of money

Update to respond to review reply: It's a shame that they don't recognise that making the most of a situation and enjoying the company you're with (including laughing over what a shambles it was) doesn't mean it was a good service or worthwhile. I think everything you need to know about Token can be found in their unprofessional and defensive replies to negative reviews.

Fun time had!

It was so much fun and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Just to make it even more enjoyable, I would’ve appreciated a bit more time within stations and no rush to finish so quickly.

Had a really fun time with 7 friends, first time making pottery myself and the instructor was very helpful which meant I ended up with a decent small bowl! Also loved that it was byob :)

A really enjoyable gift experience given to me by my daughter. Great fun for us to do together and lovely to have a souvenir piece of pottery to remember the day.

My mum and I had such a fabulous time at Token Studio as a belated Christmas present. The workshop was so well run and whilst being left to create your own pottery, the staff were careful to make sure everyone went home with something they were happy with.

My partner and I attended a BYOB pottery class at Token Studio in April, and it was honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Would give it 0 stars if I could.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear the session would be disorganised. There was no welcome, no proper check-in, and no structure. The studio was run-down, cold and had zero atmosphere. The employees all looked like they didn’t want to be there are were dismissive and disinterested. The “instructor” if you can call him that was difficult to understand and it felt more like we were in a rushed production line than a creative class.

Not to mention that the hygiene situation was particularly appalling! We were told to wash our hands in a grimy communal bucket of used clay water with no soap, and the only drying option was shared wet towels.

When I followed up with a polite complaint about our experience, I was met with an incredibly defensive and unprofessional response (after chasing 3 times over the course of a month following radio silence to my previous emails) dismissing my concerns as “mean spirited” and refusing any accountability. When I responded explaining the many reasons why my complaint was valid and expressed that I would now be proceeding to post a negative review, I simply got “I would expect nothing less from you.” as an immature, rude and unprofessional response from them. Unbelievable! I can’t believe this company are allowed to operate.

Do not give these scam artists your money! AVOID AVOID AVOID.

This was a Christmas present and one of the best I have ever had. The people were lovely, the instructor informative, and although I went on my own everyone was friendly. I found I was a natural! Great fun - would love to do again. Was assured pots are glazed in a kiln. Looking forward to picking mine up. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
