From start to finish this course was amazing!!!

I attended the two day judging school this October and I cannot recommend Angela and Terrie highly enough. Every pupil is encouraged to participate and I was pushed out of my comfort zone. I have learnt so much about print, competitions and qualifications in these two days. I know the information will be invaluable for my career in the future. A massive thankyou to Angela and Terrie for pouring their heart and soul into delivering such a fantastic and informative class.

Can not recommend doing the judging school with The Societies enough. The 2-day course is intense and you will learn so much about what it takes to be a judge and the judging process. Whether you want to become a judge or learn more about the process then I 100% recommended it.

Terrie and Scott are so passionate about judging and print. Their knowledge is amazing, and the way they teach is brilliant. Working so well together to give us the knowledge we needed.

The way the days are run meant that all of us on the course bonded in a special way, being vulnerable and learning together. I have made friends for life from it and couldn't be more thankful.

Wow, is how I'll star this. You will leave bursting with inspiration and how to see your imagery from the perspective of a competition/qualification judge.
My tutors were the wonderful Scott Johnson and Terrie Ann Jones.
We were led into the mindset of a judge and pushed out of our comfort zones to bring the best out in us. release our full potential.
I would highly recommend this course for any photographer/imagemaker looking to improve their visual experience both to their client and in competition.

On Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th I attended the societies judging school.

The course was laid out fantastically and explained excellently throughout.

At the start it was explained that we would all be pushed outside our comfort zones. At the time I didn’t realise how impactful this would be on my entire experience.

Scott and Terrie pushed me into situations I’d found uncomfortable in the past, but by the end of the two days I felt like I’d found a new part to me.

Adding to this my understanding on how judging works, what makes the best print entry and all round knowledge has excelled simply by attending judging school.

If anyone is serious about becoming better them, then this is a no brainier.

Huge thanks to the societies for making such fantastic Opportunities for our industry and photographers.

The Societies' Judging School is extremely well presented and planned. I enjoyed the practical elements and also the theory. Both Terrie and Angela were very supportive and happy to help when faced with a query or question. I would not hesitate recommending all photographers, whether entering competitions or not, to attend. It not only helps you understand what the judges are looking for, but will improve your photography too.

I had a mentoring session with Damian McGillicuddy at the Photography Show. Damian was helpful and interesting, giving me lots of supportive tips and ideas to try. The time went very quickly but I came away inspired and eager to try his suggestions.

Great mentoring on the Societies of Photographers stand yesterday. Very inspirational, so moving forward. Nice to meet people to put a face to the name too!

Amazing experience. Had the chance to discuss my photo portfolio with Damian McGillicuddy, a photographer that has years of experience and several awards. Really helpful session since I am now able to separate the photos I take for fun from the photos I take for my research, my works and for any future awards!

Excellent mentoring session with Scott Johnson at TPS. Gave me good guidance as I presented a random collection of images far removed from my professional work. Very helpful.

I took part in a private mentoring session with Damian McGillicuddy whilst visiting the Photography Show. Despite being a little nervous beforehand, Damian made me feel very at ease. The whole session was very informative and very useful towards my goal of achieving a qualification with the Societies of Photographers. I would highly recommend doing this!

I’ve been a member of Societies since the beginning of the year but today was my first in person time with them. I had a superb portfolio review with Damian McGillicuddy- he not only motivated and inspired me but gave me the confidence to take my work further. Thank you!

Wish I had a mentor session carried out before, it has given me a huge boost in confidence. Damian was great very friendly and his love of photography really shows through. We reviewed 20 of my images and he explained the good things and also the points where I could improve. I also included a couple of passion project images and this is where things kicked off, as he could see the potential of these few images, he directed me towards other individuals who would help me progress further with this style. I couldn't be happier with the feedback I have received and I now have a trajectory that I will now aim for in my work.

Super fun day, learnt a lotttt with multiple ts for some emphasis, would highly recommend if you are trying to find your path or brush up or get your head around unanswered questions going around in your head, worth the time travel and money

A great day with excellent examples of how to manipulate light & completely change the mood/character of a person. Most importantly Damian showed the effects of each light as it was built which I found particularly helpful.

I'm so glad I attended the Fundamentals of Photographic Lighting Seminar by Damian McGillicuddy yesterday. I consider myself lucky to have such an accomplished photographer practically on my doorstep who is willing to share his vast knowledge with others wishing to improve their photography and the industry standards in general. It was a fun and friendly atmosphere with Damian himself enthusiastically able to communicate complex subjects with ease. Looking forward to learning much more in future. It's a very relaxed but professional set up and it was definitely a learning workshop rather than a set up where you turn up and shoot someone else's set up. Questions are encouraged and even though I have been making photos for years I still came away with the deeper understanding than can only be gained from having an expert stood in front of you that really knows their stuff.
