Attend this event every year so great to meet up with photographers from all over Scotland and catchup I sat through all three speakers and learnt a lot from this as they were very informative also the exhibitors were great although I shoot nikon z8 so not much for me in gear but did purchase a lens for my wife’s canon RP mirrorless camera and photographic printing paper so had a great day
The only feedback was no coffee and snack station so you had to leave the exibition and go to the main hotel to get coffee and snacks which wasn’t ideal so please think about bringing back the coffee and snack station next year 🫶🏽

Attending the 2-day judging school was a sheer delight from start to finish. The insight into what the judges look for in a print competition is a game changer, particularly if you want to take your photography to the next level. It's about more than just sitting and listening. It's hands-on with guidance from experienced judges with a wealth of knowledge. You will come away with information which will help you to prepare for your next print for competition. Moreover, attending the judging school is the first step in becoming a qualified judge for The Societies of Photographers. Highly Recommended.

I attended the Societies of Photographers 2 day judging school.
I've attended a few workshops over the years and I've never met a friendlier more helpful group of people who are so focussed on you.

From the first meet to the end, the course was full of information and practical application that will only go towards making me a better photographer.

What an amazing and invaluable experience, I cant recommend the course highly enough, if you're looking to learn all about how images are judged or to learn more about entering competitions, this course is absolutely for you

It was great experience for me. I had difficulty in some areas of setting up and to bring mood into my pictures. Damian explain very well and taught me/us beyond my expectations to further my knowledge of fundamental of lighting. The atmosphere was friendly, warm and welcoming. Everyone was very helpful. l recommend this workshop to anyone.

This workshop had the potential to be very technical and hard work. The actual experience couldn't be further from the truth. Yes, there were some complex ideas discussed but Damian McGillicuddy explained everything in plain English that made it relatively easy to understand. Can't wait for the next workshop!

I am a proud member of the Societies and would recommend it to anyone looking to improve their photography either as a professional or hobbyist.
The Societies gives members access to a wealth of knowledge and experience that allows you to grow and develop your photography and business skills at your own pace. The mentoring program alone is worth the membership fee.
I attended the annual conference at the start of the year and learned a lot from watching the judging process and speaking to like minded photographers who were happy to share advice.

I’ve learnt more today from Damian than I have over the last few years. Damian, is very open and clear with his advice and information. Previous experiences, I have found photographers on the whole, like to keep their secrets. Damian is certainly not like that and I fully recommend his courses to you if you want to get to grips with lighting.

The Society of photographers Coordinated to put on an excellent event in lighting with Damian McGillicuddy. Excellent experience with lots of practical help in understanding how to understand the role of lighting. Can’t wait until the next workshop.

The day was filled with the tutor regaling us with stories of his photographic journey and building a lighting set. I enjoyed the company and the lighthearted way of teaching whilst ensuring that we all understood what each light pattern looked like and what it may be used for.

What a fun and informative day at this seminar, lead by the brilliant Damian McGillicuddy and team. Easy to get to, easy parking. Comfortable workspace. Very well equipped and a couple of great models, Male and female. I think I got a lot from the day so now it's time to put it into practice!

Another excellent day long workshop from The Societies - the leader Tom was really knowledgable and informative and made sure all the delegates were fully engaged - Good that this workshop covered ground that is a bit of a niche so making sure all bases in photography are being covered. Really enjoyed and look forward to attending further workshops in future

The best photographic society of its kind in Europe, if not the world. A wonderful place to learn from other top end photographers who set an incredibly high standard and who of themselves are leaders in their field. Run by lovely people who are responsive, in it for the members and only to keen to help you develop and grow. An excellent home to nurture your skills.

The feedback from my recent successful qualifications panel was incredibly useful. The feedback will allow me to focus on improving my images. The comments were constructive, when I read the comments I could see immediately where I could refine my images.

The Societies of Photographers are super supportive, and the whole team, are so very helpful.

I took full advantage of the Mentoring Programme which has been a fabulous encouraging my learning journey. I can't thank them enough.

With my mentor's guidance, this year I attained my Licentiate Qualification and now have the confidence to start 'thinking' about my Associateship.

I was very nervous but the panel put me at ease. It was lovely to have something to work towards and it's so important to continuously better yourself!
