Nice product impossible to construct
The table & chairs arrived quickly and I am very pleased with them, they are very sturdy and look good. I especially like the ability to extend the table for larger groups.
It arrives with a free wooden pallet so you will need to either burn or dispose of it once deconstructed – a bit of a nuisance.
It has no construction instructions and the company refused to provide. When I rang I got the impression from the lady I spoke to that she thought that I was wasting her time. But most people would find instructions very helpful.
The upper smaller bolts are impossible to fit – I had to weld together parts to make a special tool in order to fit them. Its impossible to get even the smallest fingers between the table top and brackets to hold one end of the bolt. The semi-circular table top needs to be made detachable in order to fit the bolts.
I challenge this company to make a video showing how to construct it – had they done so they would realise the problem. I was told that I was the first person to experience an issue with a failure to provide instructions this can only be a lie or because it’s a new product.
Overall it’s a shame as the products themselves are good.

We are based in Cornwall and therefore we do rely on couriers to be able to deliver all over the country. To ensure our furniture arrives safely and in great condition, larger items do need to be delivered on a pallet. This information is provided on our website as well as on order confirmation and dispatch notification emails. We are sorry if you do not feel that this was clear.
Some local council’s will collect pallets with your weekly collections, or you can take them to your local recycling centre. Otherwise, many people use pallets for varying reasons - they are very much in demand.
We are working on reducing the use of courier transport to deliver our products by increasing our own fleet of vehicles. This means we can deliver products without any packaging on them at all, with next to no damage. Unfortunately, this will take some time and currently we do rely on couriers to be able to deliver.
We are sorry that you experienced issues assembling your furniture. This is not a new product and is not something that we often receive negative feedback on otherwise we would of course consider a sustainable form of assembly instructions. We do not want our customers to have a poor experience and we are disappointed that you feel that yours was.
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and are always at the end of the phone to help. We apologise if you do not feel that you were provided with excellent customer service, and we will take your comments forward.

Absolutely outstanding customer service…
Absolutely outstanding customer service from from company - within a couple of hours of making an order two Adirondack chairs were delivered to my home (thank you for organising this Claire). The quality of the chairs is as expected, they look great, very cool.
As advertised, the chairs required a little self assembly which was quite straightforward although two pairs of hands proved to be better than one.
I had a couple of supplementary questions regarding long term care of the chairs, telephone calls were answered within moments (that’s Claire again). I would recommend this Cornwall based supplier of sustainable products, they really do have the personal touch.

Quality of wood fantastic.
I bought the small pedestal. Great value for money. I have 2 others. The item can placed between chairs in the living room. Can move round easily. Sturdy.

Another courier story but all's well that ends well!
A great start as I ordered before Christmas to get a pre Christmas delivery and it all came on time. 1 x 240cm Teak Cross Dining table and 10 Santos teak chairs.
Unpacking was a bit of a chore and was disappointed to find 2 of the chairs were faulty, one broken in transit and one incorrectly assembled.
But they were on the case, responded positively and offered to replace and collect early in the New Year. The replacement went smoothly but not the collection. It seems that Sustainable don't use the best couriers, which did leave a bit of a sour taste.
Nevertheless after some persistence and a positive reaction all ended well.
I hope the chairs were returned in a sound condition.
Now that is done, I have to say a big thank you for the way Sustainable always kept my wishes at the forefront of their actions.
I actually had a 10 seat gathering of my family around the table last Sunday and I must say that I am more than delighted with my purchases and would recommend Sustainable furniture to anyone that asks.
In my career, I always believed that the measure of a good company was how they responded to issues.
You have scored top marks.

Due to the range and size of the items that we offer unfortunately we are limited on the couriers that we can use. We are slowly introducing our own fleet of vehicles but due to location and high volumes we cannot solely use them, we would love to deliver everything by our own transport to reduce delay and errors, but it is not possible yet. Excellent Company & Excellent Product
Excellent. Our 2.5m teak root table is amazing and the delivery guys could not have been more helpful. We first saw a dining table from this company in a friend's home and they said they could not fault the company or the product so we decided to order from them too. We were not disappointed.
I can see a number of people have complained about lead-times but we know from other items of furniture (especially made from wood) we have ordered, the whole market is suffering delays with supplies and transportation issues. Indeed, we are still awaiting a chest of drawers we ordered from another Company back in June so I believe this is a world-wide problem and not specific to Sustainable Furniture.

Persevere and support. You won’t be disappointed. …
Well after 6 months of ordering my sofas turned up! This sounds like a bad review but isn’t. My order was caught up in the shipping debacle and although I was sceptical of the excuses, this was beyond the control of Sustainable Furniture who did, it’s fair to say, kept me informed of what they could find out about the container ship which had my order on.
I am so glad I persevered. I knew I liked the product (Manga 3 seater) when I ordered two and they are great value for money. Sturdy and well made, they look great, classy and expensive. Seats a little firm but surprisingly comfortable. I am so glad I stuck with this company and apologise if at times I was a little stroppy! My only negative is that the sofas are wide and would not fit through a door in our house so consider this if you don’t have a side access or good neighbours!

I have nothing but praise for the way my order was handled in what must be a very difficult time to be importing goods from abroad.

Great service!
I took delivery of a pair of folding teak garden armchairs in July that arrived in perfect condition, well packaged. Very pleased with the design. Unfortunately one of the chairs developed a faulty joint (a knot in the wood weakened it I think). I asked for a replacement, had a response in 24 hours and a replacement within 5 days. This is great service from this company and I will use them again for future purchases.

Ordered a garden chair in May. Finally delivered in September. Fortunately I checked it before the delivery van left - the lower back bar was cracked right across suggesting a major blow (I am sure it would have been visible at despatch so presumably caused by the delivery company - Tufnell). I refused to take it and asked for a replacement. I was told it would be delivered on a specific day and so waited in all day - no show. When it eventually did arrive the back rest of the chair (3inch teak) was shattered and several supporting struts were broken. At least it was wrapped in 20 metres of fragile tape. At least sustainable furniture refunded me quickly. I'm not sure if 2 very expensive bits of firewood really fulfils sustainable criteria though.

We are sorry that you are disappointed with the experience you have had with your order; this is not our intention at all.
It has been an extremely busy and very unusual time for us, which is of course fantastic, but it has not come without its challenges. We are a very small team and we have experienced a huge increase in our volumes – as you will likely have seen on the news this year there has been a nationwide shortage in garden furniture. There have been issues throughout the entire process; from sourcing materials to shipping delays. This has meant that we are struggling to replenish items as quickly as usual and unfortunately some items have become out of stock. This is not how we like to operate but, during such an unusual time, we have had to adapt and do our best to continue operating.
In order to manage the volumes and customers’ expectations, we have introduced a pre-order system whereby the website states when items will be available for delivery and customers can reserve items on our next shipments. Your order was placed as a pre-order and unfortunately we experienced delays with our shipment which were out of our control. We advised you of the delays as soon as we learnt of them ourselves but we are sorry that we could not fulfil your order sooner. We dispatched your order as soon as possible once it arrived with us.
Your item was unfortunately damaged during transit which is incredbly disappointing. As you say, the item would not have left our warehouse damaged and we do our very best to protect our furniture in transit. Unfortunately sometimes items do get damaged, which is out of our control, but we are always on hand to resolve any issues.
You contacted us and we organised for a replacement to be dispatched for you immediately. Unfortunately there was a delay with delivery due to such high volumes in the courier network currently. Again, we are really sorry about this however, as you likely will have seen in the news, there are lots of issues in this network currently. It is really disappointing that your replacement item was also damaged in transit – we did our best to prevent this (you mention the fragile tape for example) however this is unfortunately out of our control and really frustrating.
We were of course available to resolve the situation right away and you requested a refund, as opposed to another replacement. We processed this without hesitation.
With reference to our courier, due to the range and size of the items that we offer, unfortunately we are limited on the couriers that we can use. That being said, we very rarely receive complaints and I am sorry that you were let down. It has been an extremely busy and very unusual time for us, which is of course fantastic, but it has not come without its challenges. We are a very small team and we have experienced a huge increase in our volumes – as you will likely have seen on the news this year there has been a nationwide shortage in garden furniture and it is not unusual for customers to be waiting longer than usual for their furniture. That being said we appreciate that this is frustrating and we are doing our absolute best.
You placed your order on 1st September and this was an extremely busy time for us. We had a number of large containers arriving at our warehouse during this time and our team have been working as quickly as possible, and in date order, dispatching orders as this is the fairest way to do so. Dispatch was therefore unfortunately taking longer than usual during this very busy time and we apologise for this.
We are always available to contact on the phone and will happily update you on the status of your order at any time. You contacted us on 14th September asking for an update on your order and we apologised profusely for the delay in dispatch and explained the situation. We organised for your order to be dispatched that same day, which it was.
Delivery is currently a 5 - 7 working day service due to the sheer volumes in the network currently which we advised you when you contacted us on the 14th September. I apologise that this is longer than usual however unfortunately this is out of our control.
You then contacted us today (22nd September) asking for a delivery date. We contacted our courier to get an update and they advised that your order is with your local depot who would contact you today to book in and liaise with you regarding delivery. You advised that you did not want to talk to them directly and that you would like us to coordinate delivery for you. We called the courier immediately and arranged delivery for the Next Day and confirmed this with you within 20 minutes. Your delivery will therefore be with you tomorrow.
We are really sorry for the delays experienced throughout your order experience and that you are disappointed with the customer service received. We have done our very best to get delivery to you as quickly as possible. Please let us know if we can help with anything further. Thank you.

NOT SO Great wicker chairs
NOT So Great wicker chairs.
Have edited this on 10 April 2025. These chairs were actually a disaster and are not build for weather conditions in the UK. Shouldn’t be sold as outdoor furniture and am currently just about to take the rotted things to the rubbish tip. Not a cheap mistake. Don’t be fooled into thinking these are good for the outdoors!!!
Delivery obviously delayed for much longer than pre order date stated but they are worth the wait. Was concerned re wicker outside but very well made so fingers crossed they withstand the elements.
Also later ordered wicker sofa but cancelled the order as the delivery date was moving further into the autumn and just decided wouldn’t have much use before next summer. Emails and refund dealt with satisfactorily.

I just want to say a BIG thank you for your email and for those sent previously keeping us up to date with our order over the past months. Our furniture arrived minutes before I opened the email you sent today and I have to say that I am delighted with the wicker chairs!
When many others have constantly provided recorded messages apologising for the severely reduced customer service, still apparently because of Covid, you have soldiered on and provided an excellent service, living proof that there are still some sane organisations out there who put the customer high on their priority list!
