Contacted Wen from Customer Service, Tuesday 27th January 2026 10:30 AM. Wen was not very helpful. It was absolute torture dealing with her. Could not achieve a resolution. Was told to wait for an email. Took more than 90 days to resolve a dispute. The truth is the banks don't take 90 days to come to a resolution, especially when you have submitted a lot of evidence to support your case. It is Square Australia that lies to its customers and holds the money and refuses to pay. Chasing up the money is a night mare. Square will give a resolution date and then stuff you around and refuse to pay and use the banks as an excuse. Wen states that there is no time frame for a call back, which just proves the poor customer service displayed here and the delay in refund. Poor tactics are being used here and simply leaving businesses out of pocket.

Great easy to use device

It’s been from strength to strength. Super convenient and very easy to navigate. Being able to have a payment system that will grow with my business has been such a relief.

Unable to verify my address due to a system error. As it was enter incorrectly I was told I could no longer use their service and my best option was to get someone else to sign up on my behalf or else go to a different provider.

Zero help provided upon calling customer service.

I used Square for a small business and experienced a failed payment where neither I nor the customer were clearly notified at the time of sale. Goods were provided believing payment had gone through.

I later discovered the payment had failed, and Square refused to reimburse the amount. For small businesses, real-time visibility on declined payments is critical. It is the lack of transparency and professionalism from Square as a payment processing company that fails me. Also it's important to note that their fees are the highest among all other payment processing providers yet their customer service is below par.

I’ve since moved to another provider that clearly shows approved vs declined transactions. I would encourage other small businesses to carefully assess this risk before using Square.

Good integration with other systems

Great free booking app for a barber starting out. Links easily to use NFC or Square pos but marketing tools could be better as you can only do emails with the free version. Fresha has good marketing tools for both email and text with the free booking app but maybe more suited to Beauty. Both companies charge for marketing. If you are looking for a shop mobile, the Moto G15 links NFC to square app.

Square was relatively easy to start up, and once connected, was easy to use. Payments came the next day, fees were low & reasonable. Could easily navigate through the app, and find breakdown of payment. Very happy with outcome.

All money in my account on time and honest and quick all great things

I liked the system, but after 2 weeks of work to get the compliance all sorted, I did a couple of test transactions from personal account (had not even started trading with it) and they just deleted my account, no explaination, no justification and the refused to help. Be careful using them what if it was your day-to-day transaction system for your cafe and you came in one day, opened up and found you could not transact? If you are using them, consider having a backup merchant - I'm terrible disappointed with the customer service and inability for them to even tell me what (if anything) I did wrong. Other review sites are full of others that had similar issues, I wish I'd looked at them first. (disclaimer: All comments are personal opinion based on my personal experience, there is no intent to slander, discredit or damage Square or its affiliated companies)
