Small business
I only needed it for market stalls for a hobby selling home made .
The first time using it we couldn't get it to read cards and had to manually enter details.
Fees to use then fees to transfer. I knew of fees to use but dont recall reading of fees to transfer

Thanks for sharing this feedback - we know how stressful it is when your reader doesn’t work as expected at a market and you end up having to key in cards.
It sounds like the card reader connection issue is what forced you into manually entering details, which does cost more per transaction. In terms of transfers, standard next-business-day transfers to your bank are free – you only pay the normal card processing fee. There are optional faster transfer options (like Instant or Same-Day) that do have a small fee, which may be what you’re seeing. If you’d like help getting the reader working reliably or reviewing your transfer settings, our support team can walk through it with you at http://squ.re/contact.

Cancelled my account because I couldn't share commercially sensitive materials.
Square contacted me out of the blue, and after using their service for multiple years, advised me that my account was on hold, and requested to see copies of invoices that I had sent to my clients. Unfortunately, I have NDA's that prohibit me from sharing commercially sensitive information with third parties (I work in Media). Subsequently, Square deactivated my account, and refuse to tell me why, or provide any means to appeal, or speak to anyone.

From time to time we’re required to request additional information (such as sample invoices or contracts) so we can understand how a business operates and meet our regulatory and compliance obligations. We appreciate that some sellers work under NDAs or handle commercially sensitive material, and in many cases documents can be provided with sensitive details redacted, as long as key information remains visible. If we don’t receive enough information to complete a review, we may not be able to continue providing services on the account.
While we can’t discuss individual account decisions in a public forum, we’re grateful you took the time to share this experience. Feedback like yours helps us improve how we explain our information requests and support businesses that work under strict confidentiality obligations.
