True Care in Healthcare
Becoming increasingly dissatisfied with health insurance providers, there is hope for fair and principled decisions and sharing through Solidarity.
Solidarity is horrible!!
I spent the last 2 months paying bills through collection agency’s we didn’t know we owed. Solidarity paid nothing for anything. Ever. I mean not one bill for a surgery. Was told it was covered. Absolutely the least religious company ever. Total scam. run far far away, do not look back!!!!!

Besvarelse fra Solidarity HealthShare
Buyer Beware! Such a waste of my time and money!
If I could give them a 0, I would. The whole experience the past 2 years has been a nightmare. Our local provider doesn't work well with non-insurance organizations and continues to bill me for the balance amounts that Solidarity won't pay. Solidarity negotiates the bills through Advanced Medical Pricing Solutions, but then our provider continues to bill me for the remaining amount that was supposedly re-negotiated. Then, Solidarity tells me not to pay these balance bills. So our provider sends the bills to a debt collection agency. I'm stuck in the middle. And AMPS and Solidarity move so slowly that almost every bill that goes to them also goes to a debt collection agency in my name. What a mess! I've spent hours on the phone with them and it's been the biggest waste of my time and money. DON'T bother with Solidarity. Choose another health sharing if you must, but even saving up your own money to an HSA has got to be better than throwing thousands of dollars away to Solidarity. Oh, and on top of all that, they've been increasing their monthly share amounts to the point where now I'd almost be better off getting traditional insurance. What a joke!
Stay Away
If I could, I would give a 0. They sound great, but the reality is different.
We got them for over 6 months in between real insurance (and we did want to continue with them long run, but will never sign up again).
They will NOT cover (share) things like doctors visits, approved care for a kids broken leg, shots for the kids... and all of this after paying the family deductible (we had a baby this year). When you visit a doctor, you have to pay upfront the un-insured fee, because they are a health-share and not an insurance. But because they are a share, the doctor will still submit a bill to Solidarity. When they get this bill, they will, sometimes, get you a discount on what you owe, but that discount is not as big as if you had just paid out of pocket. So you go on and get another bill from the doctor, months after the incident, and pretty much end up paying out of pocket for any doctor's bills and a premium for having Solidarity.
Stay away from them, and if you want a healthshare, find another with better reviews online. We would have been better off paying COBRA for our old plan or putting all in an HSA.
Recent widow suffers even more due to Solidarity HealthShare
I have been a member of Solidarity HealthShare since 2017. This is the first year I have really had to use it. I had a fall in September and broke my wrist, then had to have surgery. I have paid out of pocket for pretty much everything, with the hope one day I will be reimbursed for some of what I had paid out of pocket, but who knows when. This has been a hardship for me as I became a widow right before this whole episode started with Solidarity. My even bigger shock came just recently when I found out because I am choosing to leave the healthshare at the end of Dec., my bills I have submitted since Nov. will not be eligible for sharing, because I am leaving the healthshare. So I asked, you are saying I have had no healthcare coverage in these two months, even though they have billed me and they said that was correct. So unethical!!!
Solidarity Healthshare is a SCAM
Solidarity Healthshare is a SCAM. This is not insurance - they are not regulated and they do not answer to anyone legally for defrauding their customers. They make the rules up as they go, change them at will, and there is nothing you can do about it. They make promises to their members that pay in their hard earned money every month believing (incorrectly) that their medical expenses will be paid as promised. They have a loophole and a way out of everything - the only definitive answer you will ever get is “that’s the member’s responsibility”
They use terminology that is impossible to decipher. Their website is impossible to navigate or understand. Their member portal is deliberately vague and hard to navigate and/or understand. If you call to try to get your questions answered, the hold times are endless, sometimes as long as an hour. IF you don't give up and you actually get someone on the phone, they will talk in circles, talk over you, and tell you they are waiting for clarification from a supervisor. If you insist on answers, you will have to wait a week for a supervisor to call you back. The supervisor usually doesn’t have answers either, if you even get a call back. In the end, the answer to all questions is that it is the member’s responsibility, even though their own employees don't seem to understand either.
Good luck finding a doctor that will take Solidarity, even the list of doctors they provide you will not work with you. Your only option is to pay cash upfront for your visit and wait for reimbursement, which in most cases takes about a year. So basically you pay your monthly share up front, you pay your doctors up front, then wait for reimbursement…and guess what, at any moment they can decide not to reimburse you because of the above mentioned vague verbiage and loopholes, which was the “member’s responsibility to understand.”
To make matters worse, they recently restructured everything, making it more expensive and even more confusing. Regardless of whether or not you opted to change plans, they changed your effective date and the rules of membership. If you are unhappy with this change and the price increase, too bad, your only option is to deal with it because if you decide to cancel with them, all claims/bills after the new effective date you’ve been given arbitrarily, that you didn’t agree to, WILL NOT BE PAID. Your only option is to wait (be held hostage) and continue to pay in the absurdly expensive monthly share hoping they will pay (probably not) any open bills. This could take a year or more of waiting and continuing to pay monthly or you can simply cut your losses, assume the responsibility, and pay them yourself, which will likely be the case anyway.
You are better off putting your money in a savings account and using your savings to pay your medical expenses. It will save you time, money, and aggravation. If you are thinking about signing up for Solidarity Healthshare, DON’T! If you already have Solidarity Healthshare, GET OUT! Cut your losses and get real insurance before they steal any more of your money and leave you without the ability to receive medical care.
My only hope for this review is that it will save anyone reading it their time, money, and frustration. It’s too late for me, save yourselves from being deceived by an organization that uses Christianity as a guise to scam desperate people in need of healthcare solutions.
We were desperate
We were desperate to find an affordable healthcare alternative when we joined Solidariy several years ago. While the sharing amount is very enticing the hassle of getting reimbursement is not worth it. First, no medical provider recognizes it as a legitimate form of “insurance “. Second, it is nearly impossible to get providers to give Solidarity the proper forms and then to get Solidarity to approve a charge. This typically takes a year or so, even on a simple physical. In the meantime, you will be harassed for payment or sent to a collection agency, if you don’t go ahead and pay out of pocket.
Finally, when we really needed sharing and a sense of Christian decency when our son had an emergency and hospitalization to the tune if $50,000. They wouldn’t accept paperwork, put us off and then after we’ll over a year, denied the claim.
I don’t know about other health share, but Solidarity definitely seems to be not on the up and up. Christian love and sharing are in name only and not in their actions
We were glad to find this health share…
We were glad to find this health share service when we first became members. After going through the process of maternity and birth services our opinion has changed dramatically. We were not given adequate information of the process for receiving payment of our hospital bills and were almost unable to make those payments on time. Then we had to pay beyond our Annual Unshared Amount because our bills had not been processed to be put towards the Unshared Amount.
We are still waiting for reimbursements from bills submitted in February. The 120 business day processing has not been upheld, which is already a frustratingly long time. We would no longer recommend Solidarity to our family and friends and are looking for other options for our family. We have been put under personal financial strain because of Solidarity's inability to complete their work in a timely manner. We have been continually told that there have been price increases to membership so that bills can be processed more efficiently but that does not seem to be the case.
Very helpful and friendly
Very helpful and friendly. If not sure of an answer she checked.
It's a beautiful thing...
Signing up with Solidarity is one of the best choices I've ever made. They're new, they've had serious growing pains while changing over their system, then Covid hit in the middle of that. It's been absolute chaos. It's not personal, Folks. It's not about a lack of integrity. They're finding their feet as an organization. I hung in there and was glad I did. It did take 20 months for me to be reimbursed for my initial bills but some had been resubmitted again and there was a lot of confusion and then they were requiring the tax ID number so we had to add that information. The cons have been thoroughly covered here. The pros? A $750 annual "deductible". 100% coverage for half of what you'd pay with Obama care. No push-back ever on the care I've gotten. And not only do they no push back they fully support me getting the help I need. I've had three customer service agents actually bypass the usual wait to be contacted by a provider, offer to call the practitioner's office (or a specific staff member) themselves, brought me in on 3 way calls -- bypassing weeks of waiting...I had the approval w/in the hour. Seriously...astounding. "I've got it on my screen, I'll call you as soon as it goes through!" These are people who care. These people do things I have never seen any insurance company do. These days my priorities are changing. I'd rather speak to people who literally, genuinely care about me as a person and who support me in getting better. If I have to put a little more effort into learning how to make the system work for me or wait a little longer for a payment, I'm happy to do that because these are people I trust. They represent the kind of world I want to live in. Non-profit health care. People helping people. The first thing I did was find out exactly what information they needed and ask where most claims get hung up (incomplete documentation). I learned quickly to follow up. Every time I get someone there to put eyes on it and tell me if anything was missing. When a practitioner contacted them I followed up -- did you get the fax/phone call/e-mail? Same with the practitioner. There are things you can do to make sure you get reimbursed as soon as possible. Do you have a right to be frustrated? Sure. But it goes off the rails when you start saying this is some kind of scam, "these people don't have Christian values" etc....Growing pains, Folks. And for those who hung in there your compassion is about to be rewarded. The new annual unshared amount (deductible) is about to go up to $3000/yr but those who are already members will be grandfathered in with their $750 "deductible" -- which is everything. That's something I can afford to pay every year. I choose faith, compassion and gratitude. I choose non-profit. I choose people helping people...even if the system is not yet perfect. I choose not to throw stones at people who have been showing up every day to answer phone for a system in transition...who take the hits, empathize, and still speak to everyone with kindness and empathy. Do what you can to help them. They care. I was so frustrated with an Orthopedic doc at one point that I called them in tears and I was told, "If you want to try a new doctor, we support you in doing that. Go to as many doctors as you need to go to. We'll be here. You can call us if you just need to talk." <---- That right there? That's worth literally everything. That's what we need more of in this world. At whatever cost I stand in *that* corner. It's evolving. It's improving. Hang in there. (And no, I have no connection to this company or any of its employees.)
My experience with Solidarity has been…
My experience with Solidarity has been a nightmare! I have yet to be reimbursed for preventative care that I had 2 years ago and now am behind on my current preventative care do to the run around with this company. I cancelled my membership today and never again will participate in health share programs they are a scam. Its a good thing I did not have any major medical issues. Yes they don't pay for unethical care like abortions because they don't pay for anything!! Your better off putting your money into a HSA.
This is a Scam
Read the reviews before signing up. They take your money and then fail to reimburse you for any meaningful amount of the bills you submit. They also tack on extra charges for "Admin" and "Program fee" with no notice or prior agreement.
They've been telling people for the last year and a half that their new software will fix everything but nothing has changed. Starting to look like a scam.
This is a scam "healthshare" product
This is a scam "healthshare" product. I had been with company for 3 years and cannot begin to tell you the lies and deception that go on in this company. The very vague and grey areas of their contract will quickly tell their tale when action come to play of payment for your healthcare provider. Having nothing is better than this company.
A Ponzi scheme masquerading as a catholic health share
I have been with solidarity for over 2 years. Here is why you should do business with solidarity:
- You like damaging your credit from having unpaid medical bills go to collections.
- You like being on hold for 50+ minutes.
- You like randomly being told your policy is canceled because their credit card processing system apparently cant handle a VISA or Amex.
- You enjoy paying thousands in medical bills for coverage you thought you had.
If I could give them 0 stars, I would.
I wish I could leave less than 1 star
I wish I could leave less than 1 star. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't do business with solidarity! My wife and I have been with them 2 years and thank the lord in heaven we now have actual insurance that will actually pay stuff through her job. We had a baby over a YEAR ago, and are STILL fighting to get solidarity to pay what they owe. I have collectors sending us letters, because solidarity agrees to pay, and then doesn't. They are a horrible representation of how Christians and Catholics should do business. Learn from my pain, do yourself a HUGE favor, and go with ANYONE else.
You may never get paid and go bankrupt waiting...
I just received notice from my medical practitioner that Solidarity has not fulfilled its signed / agreement to process my medical payment of over $5000 from July, despite it being 120 days later...
My medical practitioner is now asking ME to pay its outstanding bill, bringing the outstanding balance to well over $10,000. Is this honestly how you treat your customers during COVID? Make us go bankrupt waiting on your business to perform its ONE JOB?
I have well over $5000 in outstanding reimbursements from April 2020 due to me.
I have not been notified or reimbursed ON A SINGLE BILL I have submitted, from April, July, August etc.
The promise that "we process in 120 days" is patently false. It is wildly unethical and unacceptable for a company to perform this way.
Customer service emails go unreplied to for weeks. Promises to escalate my bills and call me back with an update within 24 hours go unheeded. "We're updating software" should not speed up payments. I have never in my life dealt with such a poorly run company.
Are you a money laundering service?
Solidarity healthshare is a game…
Solidarity healthshare is a game changer and a life saver. My wife and I recently had a our third child and it was the first time we had a child while being with solidarity. I can tell you from past experiences working with insurances this was by far the most easiest and honestly the best there was. Not only was the medical cost extremely less but the ease and preparation that solidarity did with us all the way through the pregnancy and delivery was amazing. It allowed for us to be in the moment and not once had to worry about another medical financial burden. They truly care for life and support life in all stages.
