I had been a long time admirer of the beautiful clothes on the Shibumi website, then when my daughter announced she was getting married I had the perfect excuse to go ahead and buy something. I was particularly taken by the full length coats but couldn't decide on a fabric so arranged a visit to the workshop. Ruth was incredibly helpful, it was so useful to see the range of beautiful fabrics and I settled on the Devi coat in African Cobalt, with a bright pink lining. When the coat arrived I was blown away by how gorgeous it was- I wore it for my daughter's wedding and a few weeks later for my own! It was absolutely perfect -as an older bride I knew I didn't want a traditional white dress and my Devi coat was such a colourful, elegant alternative - I felt wonderful in it.

Shibumi jackets are just sublime. The tailoring and drape coupled with the luxurious fabric and striking patterns combine to make you feel fabulous. The beauty of these jackets is their versatility; they look just as good over jeans and a t shirt as they do with a dress and heels. These jackets can take you anywhere in the most stylish, individual way. I am a massive fan and intend to return. 😍😊👍

I was looking for a ‘statement’ coat for my winter wedding. I ordered a Devi full length coat in Imperial Blue 3 weeks out from the wedding day. It arrived within 10 days from the UK to Australia - an amazing feat! Inside the outer packaging, my coat was expertly folded and wrapped in tissue. On opening, the first thing I noticed was the exquisite colours - and yes, it took my breath away. The luxurious fabric (silk and cashmere blend) is incredibly soft to the touch and the silhouette of the coat is simply perfect. My husband and daughter ordered a short Nehru jacket as a surprise birthday present for me, only to find, when the jacket arrived, that women's clothing sizes in the UK were radically different from those in the US. When I explained the situation to Ruth at Shibumi, she allowed me to return the jacket and then sent a perfect replacement at no extra cost. I was so pleased with my beautiful new jacket, and received so many compliments every time I wore it, I ordered a second jacket in a different fabric. These are heirlooms I hope to pass on to my daughters. The accountability and personal service offered by this company, as well as the outstanding quality of their creations are rarities in today's marketplace.

I have waited a long time for my son’s wedding - but what to wear, particularly when the wedding is on an island in Finland? I opted for a dress and coat and fell in love with the fabrics at Shibumi. A long journey from Northumberland to Gloucestershire ended in a wonderful morning with Ruth who led me through the various styles and fabrics available. She immediately sensed what I was looking for and the choice was easily made. The coat and dress were adjusted to my sizing and the finished garments arrived within 4 weeks. I was absolutely delighted with the high quality of the garments, felt a million dollars wearing them and received many compliments on the day. The dressing gown that my husband gave me for Christmas was such a special gift. The fabric is amazing, I love the design and colour and even though the material is really thin it is so warm! I couldn't be happier.

Shopping at Shibumi is an absolute joy. The service is wonderful as Ruth takes the time to understand your individual preferences and style. There is no rush and with an abundance of styles, garments, fabrics and colours there is the perfect costume for everyone. I have several items, including a beautiful silk dress and cashmere jacket which I wore to my daughter’s wedding. They were made to fit perfectly and received many compliments. If you are looking for something truly unique and well made I would have no hesitation in recommending Shibumi.

Shibumi was recommended to me as the perfect place to find that special Mother of the Bride jacket. I was not disappointed. The selection of different styles, lengths & fabrics is just amazing. I took a couple of dresses with me and Ruth (the owner) supported & guided me until I found the perfect jacket that looked fabulous with either dress. My hubby was so impressed with the selection he insisted I buy another jacket for more casual occasions. A great experience & I know i shall visit again.

I can’t thank Ruth enough for the design and style advice when I visited Shibumi in September to choose the outfit for our son Will’s wedding. Ruth's advice on style and fit was invaluable, the garments fitted perfectly and were so comfortable to wear. I can’t tell you the number of complimentary comments (genuine!!) I had. Since photos have been circulating I have been asked where I got my beautiful outfit - I have already recommended Shibumi to 2 friends!! It’s not often I would say my outfit was perfect and I felt fabulous wearing it – on this occasion it’s an understatement!!

I purchased the Nehru Coat in Dragonfly Green with a Hepburn Dress in Aubergine that was an absolutely terrific match to the coat's beautiful lining (I am a size 10 & paired the outfit with navy hat and shoes).
So far, I have worn the outfit to my son’s Commissioning Parade at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and to the 2024 Royal Garden Party at Holyrood Palace, where I was stopped by a woman who commented that she thought I should win the award for the best outfit in the Garden! That is such an accurate compliment to the calibre of the outfit. The combination is fabulous, giving a really pulled together and polished look that is incredibly easy to wear, but so different to the usual! A huge thank you to the entire team for all the wonderful advice, design input and craftsmanship.

It was such a lovely experience purchasing from Shibumi. The cashmere used for my kimono is supersoft in vibrant colours with a wonderful drape. The jacket is reversible which doubles it’s use. I love that Ruth is so inclusive with her sizing. Fabulous quality, beautifully made,a little work of art. These clothes are made to be worn often as they cross from casual to formal with ease. They make one feel fabulous and stand a little taller. Thank you Ruth I will return.

I give 5 stars to every aspect of my experience with Shibumi. Customer service has been exemplary. Ruth was so helpful and friendly at my appointment and helped me select a jacket for my son's wedding. The materials and designs are stunning so her knowledge of the correct style and colour choice for me was definitely needed and appreciated! I bought an Anya jacket in Burnt Copper which complemented my dress and colourings perfectly.
We have just had my son's wedding and the jacket felt wonderful to wear. I have never had so many compliments and they came from every age range who attended the wedding!

I'd spent ages looking for something to wear at my daughter's wedding and was giving up hope of finding anything that wasn't the usual 'formula' outfit or was in danger of dominating the pictures or worst of all, distracting from Bride! Almost everything else I saw was either too boring or too flamboyant or an amazingly pricey item that was unwearable ever again.
Shibumi fabrics are stunning and being able to get swatches ahead of my visit was really helped to make the most of my visit. I wasn't able to take anyone with me but Ruth was happy for my friend to join on video. Ruth was so helpful and her calm reassurance helped me to pick a jacket and dress that I really feel fits both me and the occasion - and that I can wear and wear again. Eyecatching and elegant without competing with the star of the day!!
