You have to be carful what you buy, like everywhere else its out to make maximum profit. A lot of the accessories are vastly cheaper elsewhere. And some of their "offers" have little to do with sewing.I had to remove myself from the Facebook page because of the constant witch hunts and negativity. The customer services I found to be pleasant enough, they do the job their paid for.
I tried to order the green machine two weeks ago and when I got to payment page a message came up to say the company who owns green machine don’t sent to Northern Ireland. I understand this happens sometimes but thought should they not have made this known when selling? Anyway I rang the suppliers of the green machine and they couldn’t believe that ss weren’t posting but said certainly if I order from them they will send it no problem so I emailed ss and explained what that id contacted the supplier and quite rudely said they know nothing about it except that they made that rule up and it was nothing to do with ss so I persisted and told them the y need to contact the supplier and to please let me know the outcome so a few days ago i received an email to say the reason the supplier didn’t deliver was to do with the drop ship and the destination! At this point I thought to myself don’t waste any more energy I’ll order it directly even if the postage is a bit more expensive which is actually why I think this happened in the first place
I made an order for a creative grid template. It was far cheaper and delivery was promised far quicker than other sites. I loggged onto Trustpilot and read the reviews. I was dreading the hassle. But I needn’t have worried, my item was despatched within 2 days and arrived 2 days later. I didn’t have any problems whatsoever, will definitely use again. Thank you.
Complaint about Sewing Street (tv channel)
Terrible company.
I purchased a sewing machine back in August 2023. I have been treated particularity shoddily by this company and practically branded a liar. They are a sister channel of Gemporia Jewellery.
A few days after it was delivered, I noted thread “looping” under the fabric. I tried several remedies to recertify this, rethreading several times, change bobbin, change thread, change fabric. Nothing worked. I therefore felt the machine was faulty. I complained to them via email and said I was not happy with the machine I was rejecting it, wanted a refund, what’s the procedure to send it back. Had I known then what I know now, I would have just sent it back after I sent the email. Under their terms, a customer has 30 days to reject an item, I felt that I did that, as I complained a few days after it was delivered. They took at least two weeks to get back to me, then said can I send a video, no can’t do that, I sent some pictures. They then had the cheek to tell me I had to take it to local retailer at my own expense to get the machine examined. I pointed out to them that this is a brand new machine under a 2 year guarantee, I will not be paying for anything. By this time, it was long after the 30 days and I feel they did this deliberately to get around the law. Then things started to get a bit heated. I insisted on a refund, they refused. They did eventually collect, the machine, claimed an “expert” had examined it, said no fault and promptly sent it back to me. The machine is still faulty, but they are adamant I will not get my money back. Another gem they came up with to refuse a refund is “saleable condition” and original packaging. The box arrived battered in the first place, I sent it back in the same box. I asked if they had sold me an “unsaleable item” then. No answer to that of course. Apparently, to get a refund you are not even supposed to open the box. They are a bunch of charlatans, treat their customers with utter contempt and think they can get around the consumer laws. Stay away from the company at all costs. You will regret it if you ever have any problems with a product. Wish I had bought from another company. Customer service is non-existent. If I was able put minus stars I would of.
I ordered a Lisa lam handbag from them on the 25th Sept, didn't arrive I was asked to wait until the 17th Oct still didn't arrive so I contacted them, they said it would need to be passed to the investigation team. Its now the 24th Oct still no bag, no response from sewing street or their investigation team. And now I'm £45 out of pocket. Disgraceful service
Placed an order online, but a few days later they called and told me that it wouldn't be despatched until I sent them my ID. Passport or driving licence. I work in data security - never EVER send your ID to a shopping site. I cancelled the order and went elsewhere, and within 3 days it was delivered. Hard no for me...this isn't normal for a shopping site, it feels shady.
Ordered an embroidery machine last night for £599, they took my money despite saying no money would be collected until the item was ready for delivery. Had a voicemail this morning stating they want me to send copies of my passport/driving licence and a utility bill ‘to keep me safe’ from fraud! I called them back to ask about this, said I wasn’t happy to share my personal ID in this way and this didn’t make me feel safe! They said it was their process and nothing they could do as it’s a high price item. Told them I have made much higher priced purchases online and never had to do this! You can get a bank loan without even having to do this. They could offer no help, just said it was their process so I asked them to cancel my order! If it seems too good to be true - it usually is! Very disappointed! I better receive my refund immediately otherwise taking this further!
Bought a Cricut bundle deal like a lot more people on the day machine, got machine and only a couple of items from bundle deal. Been in touch with them and they don’t want to know about this the items missing come to about £74 on a £499 deal , they got peoples money don’t want to sort this out now we going to trading standards sending sewing street a registered letter to sort this out . We cannot use the machine properly without these items now.it’s in there video all of what people is asking for and anyone can watch this on you tube or if you want a copy send me a message I have to sewing street video saved on my files because they keep closing down peoples chats about this deal they not stuck to.
IF I COULD LEAVE NO STARS I WOULD! Absolutely appalling customer service! I ordered my nan some things for Christmas 16th November. The parcel went missing. When I brought this to their attention they told me I had to wait a further 2 weeks until they investigate it with the courier. They confirmed the parcel was lost. After asking them to send the parcel out to me again on a reorder, guess what; this parcel was also missing and then had to wait a further two weeks for it to be investigated with the courier. Now most things are out of stock. None of the parcels ever arrived, my Nan had no Christmas gifts to open as I was promised this would be sent out special delivery in time for Christmas. To check the email it’s been sent standard. I am now fighting to get a refund from them, they are incapable to come up with a solution and as it seems they don’t like to hand money back to the customer that easily. When you want to speak to customer service it sounds like they have just woke up and was still in bed (not interested in the slightest) good luck to anyone ordering off here in the future I wouldn’t waste your money as your parcels probably won’t even arrive
