We instructed Sargeants on our house sale in the summer of 2022. Having spoken with several local agents, Dean’s knowledge of the local market as well as his professional, reassuring (and not too pushy) approach was in stark contrast to others we had spoken with and this was the key factor in our decision to go with Sargeants. Although the commission was slightly higher than what others had put forward, we felt it was worth the extra investment. Dean’s valuation and tactical advice at the outset was spot on and ultimately resulted in an overwhelming level of interest. Soraya took the lead on the practical aspects, arranging viewings and liaising with potential buyers. Given we had over 40 viewings the process was managed very well. The sale process had its moments but Soraya was great throughout and on top of it at all times, keeping things moving and liaising with the solicitors and the buyers regularly. Dean was always on hand for extra support if required as there were a few tense moments, which we greatly appreciated and again the tactical advice was spot on. The sales team was great to deal with and we never questioned our decision to go with Sargeants.
It is also worth mentioning that we were selling and moving into a rental. Luckily we managed to secure a rental through Sargeants and Aston (along with Gary and others) was fantastic in managing that process and liaising with the sales team to make sure the rental and sales process ran in parallel so that we could sign the AST and exchange on our sale simultaneously. It’s clear the Sargeants team follow Dean’s lead on remaining calm and professional throughout, following up as required but not being too pushy, qualities demonstrated by Soraya and Aston.

We very much hope our next house purchase is also through Sargeants.

Being an estate agent isn't easy and having done it for nearly 5 years I completely empathise with their job. When we chose Sargeants it was on their branding and properties sold within our immediate area. Dean came around and gave us his pitch and price range, which with all agents tends to be within 15% from lowest to highest. He negotiated his fee, and we were happy and went ahead with listing our property with him and his team.

Amy seemed to take the lead and got us an offer well over where we were recommended to put our property on the market, lucky we had experience in property and the area. Our offer was based on us extending our lease, which was acceptable and we proceeded. Amy then became utterly useless, stating we were ready to exchange after 2 weeks, and upon checking with our solicitors our lease pack hadn't even been sent. Amy then left (to our fortune) and Dean took over, but the damage had already been done with all the miscommunication with the buyers (who had only purchased overseas) which caused a great deal of confusion, it eventually led to our buyers pulling out, with the market beginning to go into a downturn.

This then caused another issue with us having to drop our price and accept an offer £20k-£25k lower than originally listed for. This was acceptable as we had to move but as I believe Amy caused the hold-up, I asked Dean to help us with the Fees as we had lost £20k but his fee dropped my mear hundreds of pounds... I was compensated £200.

The only saving grace in all of this nightmare, and it wasn't short of that, was Amy and Soraya who were empathetic and proactive, these two are gems in the property market and I wish others would take a leaf from their book.

I would be dubious about appointing Sargeants and make sure you serve your notice on day 1 to give you the chance to get out of your contract when it ends and not have to wait another 4 weeks to make a change.

Sargeants did a fab job selling my flat. Dean's valuation proved to be spot on, with Sargeants managing to achieve a sale at full asking price, despite the challenging market conditions. Soraya was brilliant with her efforts in seeing the sale through to completion. Thank you for the excellent service :)

Sargeants let out one of our properties and ultimately ended up selling it for us as well. We had a really fantastic experience with them, and I wouldn't hesitate to unequivocally recommend or use them again!

Me and my partner made our offer for a flat and it had been accepted. We went through the referencing checks with rent4sure and our reports were both positive. The agent congratulated and promised to send the agreement by the end of the week. On Friday , just 1 week before to move in, instead of the agreement we received an extra request from the agency, in behalf of the landlord, to see 12 month worth of bank staments and 2 years of tax return! Despite me asking how the agency would handle this very sensitive information (sending it to the landlord via mail?) I didn't receive any explanation. The agent kept saying that it was just to know the tenants a bit better. We agreed to send 6 months bank statements, even if we found it very unfair, just because we both already handled our leave notice to the current landlords. The next Monday we discovered that the landlord (?) was not happy with us and wouldn't proceed with the agreement. We went from being ok for renting to be unsuitable 4 days before to move in. Luckly we have very good landlords and they accepted our notice leave withdrawal otherwise we would be homeless by now thanks to the agency! Traumatic experience, awful treatment.

Amy found a buyer for our property within two weeks. She provided a friendly, professional service, so along with the agency, deserves five stars.

Excellent experience buying a property with Sargeants. I dealt with Hayley Knowles and she was very professional, knowledgeable and most important eager to help the buyer and make sure all questions got answered. Hayley was super responsive and never had to be chased for anything helping us massively to finalise the transaction within the timeframe we had initially set. Property management is terrible. During 9 months of tenancy the main agent responsible for property management has been very slow in responding to emails and can rarely be reached by phone.

The property we stayed in at 32 Connaught Road had major plumbing issues. We had one major water leakage at the middle of the night with hot water pipe bursting from the top floor and water flooding all the way down to the ground floor. Had to call emergency plumber ourselves as the one listed on the tenancy booklet was not responsive. While carpets were replaced by the landlord afterwards, damage to the wall and our personal belongings were never addressed by the landlord.

Apparently that’s the second major water leakage there in less than 6 months time according to the plumber who regularly come to fix things in the property. Root cause was poorly installed pipes behind walls that are now almost impossible to replace.

THE AGENT NEVER TOLD US ABOUT THE FIRST WATER LEAKAGE THAT HAPPENED NOT LONG BEFORE WE MOVED IN. Had we known about this we’d not have moved into a property with significant risk of water leakage! Imaging the fear of not knowing when a pipe is going to burst such that you don’t want to leave the house!

After tenancy terminated, agents were not responding to deposit enquiries. (Not ones to dispute differences with the landlord but simple clarifying questions!)
