Dreadful
Did our weekly shop here. Arrived on time but the majority of 'fresh' food was dated just 2 days prior to best before. Fruit was rotting and the veg was going off too.
Delivery
Had a delivery due today (4march) between 9 30-10 30,it's now past seven o'clock and still waiting .Phoned call centre, was on hold for over an hour, so I gave up. Called local store and was told there had been a problem and that they will call me and explain . Still waiting, so I have now ordered from Asda for tomorrow, and as soon as our delivery pass has run out I will be using Asda. Customer services at Sainsbury's are awful, they take my money every week but do not have the courtesy of phoning me to let me know what is going on. If I hadn't have phoned the store, I would still be waiting for my shopping. I have no hesitation on letting others know what crappy service they will receive if they use this useless company. Shame on you
Poor online delivery service. Broken packaging and appalling customer service in store
Used online delivery for the first time in 2 years. Shopping arrived with plastic packaging broken, causing it to cover all the food in the bag and the fresh chicken had really bad freezer burn. Customer service just offered a refund of the food covered and no apology, no delivery refund, no explanation. To top it all a week later the refund has not happened do not a happy customer. Went to Portishead store today, the guy in the Till was not only rude but very unhelpful. On being asked to help pack as I could not get my trolley of shopping to fit the belt he signed when asked, I gave him some of my bags and he continued to throw my shopping down the belt and when I asked if he was packing it as I unloaded my trolley, he replied with I put a load of stuff through a d then pack it ????? He then got up off his Till and walked to the end of the belt and started packing ??? I was not happy with his attitude and had never since any one get off their Till and stand packing where the customer normally does. Hey then walked up to him and told him not to bother helping me pack as I would do it. I was fuming and he returned to his Till and began throwing my items at speed down the belt, so it was all stacking up. Is this how Sainsbury treats its customers. If he doesn't like his job or think it's beneath him he should not be working there - may go through Morrison in future who are doing really well ☹️
Best supermarket by far
Always get home delivery, always on time, friendly polite staff!
Sometimes some subs, but nothing to crazy. only once had a damaged product which was refunded the next day.
Will continue to shop here
The worst on line service we have experienced
We have used Sainsbury's on line several times. We have never received all the items we have ordered. We have been told by delivery drivers that as an item was damaged it would be deducted from the invioice, never happened. We have been offered vouchers, not received, for missing items. Any voucher you may receive is not redeemable in store, only on line. Last Sunday the driver told us it was all there! In fact half was missing, we had to cancel the family lunch. Sainsbury's weren't the least bit interested except to offer more vouchers, useless. Waitrose prices have come down so we will use them in future, but if you enjoy stress, terrible service and not seeing your family for Sunday lunch, then use Sainsbury's.
Bad service
Just had such bad service at sainsbury's charing cross. From now on I stick to tesco.
Waste of time.
I never usually bother with online grocery shopping but sainsburys sent a money off voucher and a free delivery pass so i thought why not...... shouldn't have bothered.
Had to phone 3 times as the website accepted my delivery pass but didn't take the fee off.
Every time i phoned they assured me the vouchers could be used together.... And then proceeded to add one on and take the other one off.
An absolute waste of time and i simply cancelled in the end as life is too short for this kind of nonsense.
Ill just head to Asda tomorrow and do it the old fashioned way.
Great customer service and with good humour!
Have bought from Sainsburys home delivery many times and never been disappointed. My last order however, the 10 coffee pods turned out to be 9 - not a biggie, so I sent a humourous letter to customer service lamenting my loss of a cuppa...not expecting a reply....the SAME DAY (Take note Asda) I not only received a hilarious response but also a refund AND a voucher for some biscuits as way of apology!! Now that is what I call Service! Fabulous!
let down on delivery
Put an order in and i received 2 bananas instead of my order of 2 kg, then found out my order was not complete as items missing.
Got the customer services on speed dial as i call them that often.
Another British institution let down by lazy staff not doing there job. Come on Broadcut at Fareham buck up.
waste of time
ordered a ps4 bundle for delivery Tuesday 13th sept delivery slot between 8-9 pm nothing came so phoned them at 10pm to be told its been cancelled no email no phone call no nothing some child going to be upset tomorrow thanks sainsburys
Unprofessional
Without exception, every time we order shopping online some important items are missing from the delivery. To add insult to injury, we still have to pay for the delivery in full. So, why bother ordering online?
Generally OK
Have been ordering for over a year now online with Sainsburys. Generally a positive experience. Not a good way to buy cut flowers or potted plants but most stuff OK.
Delivery people are always a joy to meet as they are cheerful and always ready to help.
I did have a problem with one product but customer service looked after the issue quickly.
Have renewed my delivery subscription for another year.
Disaster
I actually feel upset by my first experience of online shopping with Sainsburys grocery order. They sent my order on time but the lamb steak had to be used by the following date , the trifle was placed sideways in a carrier bag, wrong magazine sent ,short dates on the bread but what astounded me was that I ordered a whole cucumber which they replaced with an organic one but charged me the price of the organic cucumber at £1.10 and the best before date was the same day as the delivery !!!!
They have unfortunately lost a customer and quite a few others who I have spoken to said I should of sent the whole lot back and asked for compensation.I did phone them and they refunded the cost of some items but cannot believe that this was Sainsburys.
Wish there were a minus star
On the 14/4/2016 I returned three items to the Paignton store after shopping online.
They were a mouldy, deformed swede, two withered parsnips and a lacklustre red pepper.
You might wonder why I bothered, after all the three items only came to £1.56.
However, I wouldn't have picked such poor quality items myself, so I had no intention of paying for them.
I didn't find anyone at customer services particularily helpful.
The first assistant was soon joined by two more middle aged staff, their general opinion was that there was insufficient cause for complaint.
At which point I could have pointed out that Sainsburys clearly see their online customers as voiceless recipients for anyting that they would otherwise have to discard or discount.
I had no intention of defending my decision, but stood there mutely until
I eventually received a refund on my card.
My partner who was with me at the time agreed that the whole experience was surreal.
I know one thing for sure, I'm sticking with Tesco and Asda for my online shopping in future.
Online shopping bad customer service
I have a mid-week pass so should not be charged for delivery if I purchase goods over 40 pounds. However, the basket price includes the delivery charge so I didnt realise I had not yet reached the 40 pound limit. The order confirmation doesn't show the delivery charge! I was charged 7 pounds for delivery and sainsbury refused to refund it even though its only happened once. They only have 2 levels of customer service escalation. As a principal, I will never buy from Sainsbury again! Ocado, waitrose and tesco have excellent customer service.
Online Shopping? Don't bother...
Spent 30 minutes trying to register but getting fault messages after entering all the details - yet again. Finally succeeded. Tried to shop from iPad. Every time I clicked an item to add I got a page of random white text. So I looked at the app store for a mobile friendly Sainsbury grocery app. Nothing doing!
My advice is don't bother!
Failed to deliver!
I ws phoned by Sainsbury's Customer Service on the afternoon of the day my delivery was booked (an evening slot) to say my card had been declined! I'd had a new one since my last order and was given no option on the website to put the new card details in. I wasn't even aware that the site stored my card details from the last order. I therefore updated the card with customer services and was assured that there was plenty of time for this to go through for my order to be delivered as booked, but that they would contact me if there was a problem.
The deliivery slot came and went and no delivery. I contacted customer services the following morning who said that for some reason they had failed to inform the relevant store that the payment had gone through!
I was then put through to the store, and was told, somewhat tersely and definitely unapologetically, that they could send the order the following evening. As I wouldn't be in and there were items I needed pretty much immediately, this was not a lot of use.
I had sent a message to Sainsbury's via Twitter, and they got back to me sending me an evoucher - which can only be used online! Not a lot of use when I will not trust them to deliver again.
Sadly, my nearest Sainsbury's Supermarket is a 40 mile round trip away, and the nearest Sainsbury's Local is poor and has no parking (I'm a Blue Badge holder).
The least the store involved could have done was to offer me a petrol voucher and help with carrying the heavy things to my car - but all I got was reiterations that my order couldn't be delivered earlier in the day because of "their system". I found them very unhelpful to say the least.
This is sad because Sainsbury's are the only supermarket to deliver in my area that stocks the products I want.
Great service and if it goes wrong they seem to put it right
We shop online and have done for a few years now.
We've had issues with deliveries but when we call 'in the main' the help desk team have put situations right.
On occasion the service on the phone wasn't as good as id like it to be, but more times than not I've valued their service and approach to putting situations right.
On every occasion they have never been late for a delivery, the drivers are always friendly and the food quality good.
We're pleased with sainsburys online which seems different to the many other reviews here.
Complain and they cancel your account
I've been a loyal shopper with Sainsburys for over 15 years. Since having 3 boys under 3 years we've been doing online shopping for the last 2 years. We've never really had any issues we shop once a week and groceries have been delivered on time. However earlier this year one of the delivery drivers broke our door step by placing a heavy crate of shopping on it. Naturally we complained to the Taplow store (where we get our shopping from), a senior member of staff came to have a look at it but nothing was done about it, no compensation given nor any communication on the matter. We chased it up for a few weeks but nothing. Last week our order had items missing so whilst telling the customer service team we wanted to enquire about our broken door step. Again we didn't get a response. We logged onto place our order for the next week only to find our account wasn't working, it took over an hour of phone calls over 3 days after which we finally got through to the online delivery manager to be told our account had been terminated. We had bought an online annual pass only a few weeks back and used it only for 2 months. So for enquiring about Sainsbury breaking our door step and pointing out that they'd missed things on our last delivery they cancelled our account...without any explanation or notification. Gross foul play and terrible communication, this is the thanks we get for 15 years of loyalty.
I want to like you!
Jamie Oliver stayed with you for over a decade, so you can not be all bad, I even love your spot the difference range.
I have cause to order quite a few Tena Lady Pants, they were 30% off at this company so I thought I would stock up.
I ordered 10 packs of Medium and booked the delivery.
Waited and waited - nothing, not even a phonecall.
Wanting my bargain I reordered, this time it had arrived as arranged, except they had substituted 6 of medium with 6 extra large, the man said is this ok. After a brief vision of me old lady shoving safety pins through her Lady Pants, I giggled and said No!
So off he went with his big pants, I was however charged for both deliveries on me American Express Nectar card ( I do like it) and it was only after some stern deliberation and some thankful effort by Amex that the eventual refund surfaced. Sainsbury's apology was a £10 online voucher, lol I think not.
To back this up slightly I was in Sainsbury's in Shirley, trawling with the trolley following behind two female employees yacking about nothing ( sorry, picking orders for delivery ) I was finding amusing the substitution process, this seemed nothing more scientific than grabbing the nearest item to hand. I.e. Shortbread fingers instead of fig rolls?!? That would spoil my cuppateatime.
I think that Sainsbury's are in line with a lot of bigger retailers , whose staff treat customers as an inconvenience rather than the lifeblood. Also their door security rather intimidating and quite often very large, those donuts ain't securing themselves.
