I spend a lot of money online with them…but it stops here
I spend a lot of money online with them as I'm housebound so depend on them for my entire shopping and my cats ! I love my wine but they've been out of stock of Sainsbury's Pinot Grigio 3 times in two month. I've received House dry wine twice which was disgusting, then House Soave wine which was equally disgusting I've asked if I can get an option on my substitutes but the answer was no so either I accept their substitute or get no wine. No customer service and I'm now switching to Tesco which I've never tried before but it's worth it to get what I order. Marion
Great most of the time but the odd issue
Great most of the time but the odd issue. Never had a missed delivery but have once had the call to say the card payment was declined, which was nonsense, asked them to just try again and it went through. The biggest issue is the delivery of things with very short best before dates or ridiculous substitutes. I've had a weeks worth of shopping delivered at 6pm, with a use by date of the next day. They took some of it back and refunded me but it meant I had to drive out to the shops the next morning, which defeats the purpose of getting it online. once a month at least one or two things with be substituted by someone totally difference. "You ordered 1 can of chopped tomatoes, we delivered 1 can of butter beans" I've said to the driver surly they had other chopped tomatoes, there are several sizes and brands, or at least deliver fresh tomatoes and I will chop them, but they don't think like that. Other times they don't offer a substitute and it will be that one thing you need so again a trip to the shops, which you may well have just done in the first place.
Excellent service
Having had a very bad experience with Tesco I opted to have Sainsbury’s- must say a very pleasant experience! From the ordering to the delivery driver who was super nice! Even the 2 subs were fab.
Only 4* as mid Dec I couldn’t even get a slot for Xmas and had to go elsewhere! You should have a priority service for those with delivery passes!
Pot Luck
Beware if you intend to order higher value items which are subject to a discount if you order more than a specified number.
My husband ordered six bottles of champagne which attracted a 20% discount. (total order was over £150, less discount).
Only four bottles were delivered because apparently the other two were not in stock, despite them being advertised as available. Therefore he lost the discount. It transpires that when you order on- line, your order does not go to a Sainsburys warehouse, but is placed at a store in your vicinity (not necessarily your local store). If what you order is not in stock at that store, no attempt is made to contact other stores to see whether they can provide the missing items. This method of buying on-line boils down to pot luck, so we will not be using Sainsburys on-line shopping again.
Avoid
Awful. Two shops not delivered with no communication. Awful rude communication from customer services. I refuse to shop with them again.
Items delivered out of date the next day!!!
Whats happening at Sainsburys??? The delivery I had yesterday contained 4 items of use by/sell by/best before dates for today.......I certainly wouldn't buy these items if I was in the store shopping as they're for packed lunches next week.....I'm not normally a stickler for these dates, but these are egg and fish based products, so I'll only probably trust them til Monday......the dates were not pointed out by the driver, who was (as usual) very helpful.
Get a grip Sainsburys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disappointing Waste of time.
Grocery Home delivery:
£31 of stock out of a £70.40 bill was not available.
A small quantity has been replaced with totally unsuitable items, the rest just disappointingly not delivered, nor informed it was out of stock when paying the bill.
"Typical life of 4 days", ...the first few items just opened have a 2 days shelf life only.
This was my very first time and will certainly be the last.
Drivers fine - food not so good
Drivers fine. Bananas at the bottom all bruised. So you must order at least £40 to get a lower rate delivery. I get quite a few days meals at a time. But I am giving up as the dates mean I have to eat four days meals by tomorrow. Bread has one day. Veg 1 day. Called customer service who explained they are trained about dates but they pick at 4 in the morning when customers have already taken the longest dates??? That did not reassure me and so now, once a month only for heavy items but never fresh ones. back to Morrisons.
Terrible service
Good products (sometimes) though now rarely, and they pretend to be of high quality like waitrose or Ocado, but actually most of their products are cheap , unhealthy and overpriced.
further to this their ONLINE shopping experience is a Joke. they have no systems to contact someone quickly or efficiently if and when an item is damaged/not as described/missing, etc.
And EVEN when you jump through their ridiculous contact hoops they only give you VOUCHERS back!!? which , in the cases I have exprienced personally. Is against the law. You have a right to a refund to your original payment method (if you requested that) if an item is broken / missing / or not as described. Scandalous.
In contrast Asda has a very efficient and quick refunds system and also their mimum order is only £25.00 (cheaper than all the others) and with the same costs as delivery as Sainsburys! sometimes even less. Further to that, sainsburys charges £7.00 delivery for orders under £40.00 That;s just silly. Morrisons have £40 min, but you get a lot for your money and also delivery is usually £1.00. Tesco are okay, sometimes. And Ocado are brilliant, although expensive .
I have given a 4 purley because the …
I have given a 4 purley because the deluvery driver was so well informed. Some dates of items only give you a day or two. Could ask pickers to look for longer dates. My suggestion is to have an added box on line for each item in case customer wants larger or smaller size loose veg. But i can say my order was easy and delivered on time.
Yet another 2* review !!
I had an online grocery order delivered last Friday evening, and many of the items were use by the following day, including baked items, veg and chicken. I emailed to the address on my delivery note as I wanted to send photos of proof. I waited 4 days with no response or even acknowledgement.
I then contacted them via Twitter messaging as this was the only way I could see to send the photos. This is the response I received -
"We send out items up to and including their use by dates to help combat food wastage. We class items as short life when they have a use by date which is the same as the delivery date. As these are one or two days after delivery they wouldn't have been flagged us as short dated. I'm happy to issue some goodwill to cover the items and I've refunded the buns and poor quality mushrooms. So I've popped an £8.30 evoucher onto your account for the items. "
"goodwill" !! - The items were poor quality and should be refunded as per their freshness promise!
Their website states the following, this is why I shop (or shopped) with them -
"Not only will your shopping come from a nearby store, our colleagues are trained to pick only the freshest food for you. It’ll be as though you made the choices yourself. If we have to swap something, or pick ingredients with a shorter shelf life, we’ll pop them in a blue bag. That way, you can quickly have a look and choose to accept or return them with the driver for a full refund."
The only items that would be placed in a blue bag would be items of a use by date of the delivery date. The same items that would be reduced in price in-store!
I have been issued an e-voucher that can only be redeemed against an online grocery shop, not a "refund" as stated. As I have decided not to risk doing my weekly online shop with them from now on, there is no way I can claim this refund. A refund should be put back onto the card the shop was paid with !
I always shopped with Sainsburys as I believed I was being given the freshest they have to offer. I am not a happy customer :(
I am now worried that when I shop online the best items with the longest dates are not being chosen for me, and food that will perish soon is not being highlighted when it is delivered.
Very poor customer service
Never be tempted to use Sainsbury's online shopping
I was tempted to use the Sainsburys Online grocery service by being given a money off voucher when I purchased some petrol, this was a bad decision.
The first problem was the ordering process where the website was continually locking up. I returned the next day and although slightly improved there were still problems.
I ordered bag delivery and paid extra for this service but half of my order was delivered without bags, all the chilled items and some other items.
Three items expired on the day of delivery (Delivery time was 4pm)
Some fruit and vegetables were unusable
I returned two items that were substituted.
I attempted to call the customer services twice on the day of delivery but was cut off twice whilst on hold.
I sent an email and received an automatic response but had not received an answer to my complaint after six days.
I telephoned again and was told that Customer services have two weeks to respond. They reluctantly agreed to look into my complaint. They telephoned the store to enquire about my refund for substituted items and was told the store would look into the matter.
I requested a refund for all the out of date and inedible items this was agreed to and was indeed received two days later.
I had still not received my refund after another five days and called again. Customer services again called the store and was advised there must have been a scanner problem. I advised the customer services that the store was supposed to sort out the problem five days ago and he reluctantly said he would call the store again. I received my refund four days later.
I will use Ocado again in future, never had a problem with them.
Poor online service
I have used Sainsburys on-line 3 or 4 times when they are running good wine offers and each time the experience has been poor. This time the driver couldn't find my house (we'd already have 3 other courier deliveries that day without problems) and appeared to want to make a point that in some way that was our fault (apparently our house number was clear enough or our house was in the wrong place !!). He then proceeded to stand at the door and silently hold out a jumble of bottles in a cardboard box (all the time keeping his sunglasses on) while we struggled to remove them without dropping them. Perhaps not quite rude but certainly unhelpful and unfriendly. At that point I realised (as was the case with our last delivery from Sainsburys) that they had only supplied half the order (why have special offers if you dont have the stock?). The driver just shrugged. Ah well, if you can't be bothered nor can I.......
Lego cards are not available online.
Long list of problems with Sainsburys, including items returned via driver and not credited to account, wrong items delivered and numerous items with sell by date the same day as delivery. Latest joke is Lego cards, it is supposed to be possible to obtain free Lego cards between 3 May and 13 June 2017 when you shop online. The only trouble is you can't. The icon that offers Lego cards only comes up after you have completed your order and then if you try and add it to your order it won't let you. I spoke to someone on their chat facility and he said he will send me some. After previous experiences I am not holding my breath.
SAINSBURY ONLINE SHAMBLES.
SAINSBURY"SOnline failed to deliver today and after 8 hours of phone calls ...some taking 43minutes to be answered I received an SMS saying 'your order may have been cancelled '..was it cancelled or wasn't it ? I finally became so frustrated and annoyed I cancelled my account with them and went back to OCADO.. I checked my bank account this evening to find they were trying to charge my account with £199.12. For goods I had not ordered This would put me in the red and I would incur bank charges . It's Friday night so this will probably be on my account until Monday .... SHAME ON YOU SAINSBURYS .....COMPLETE SHAMBLES
Not a safe site
Second review as we were treated so badly decided to post this.
Last year we luckily notice that there was a order for £100s for a money on our account as we could not change it contacted sainsburys ,,

Never got a word of sorry just we must have contacted you Rubbish
Excellent Service
We recently used Sainsbury's online for shopping for home delivery. This was the first time we used the service which we found to be excellent.
The order came on the time slot we selected. The driver was very friendly and helpful.
All of our groceries were there and the best thing is we got £16 off for first time customers.
We will use again!
Excellent service!
Easy to order online but delivery sometimes unreliable
Only let down but the delivery slots. It would be great it they actually delivered it on time every time but sadly that's not been my experience. However, that aside they still represents good quality and value for money.
Excellent online service
Wide range of products of good quality. Excellent home delivery service - the drivers always helpful and friendly.
Tried their online shop and liked it
I go to my local Sainsbury in Stanmore because it's easy to get to but just for odd things but I decided to try their online shop and it is another easy website to navigate. I know their products, some I like some I don't. Their prices are reasonable and their delivery charges are fair. I have used them twice and have no complaints. Just try it for yourselves.
