If you want to risk laying turf infested with annual meadow grass weed (AMG), buy from Rolawn.
Its now almost two months since our Rolawn Medallion turf lawn was laid.
We discovered AMG weed in the lawn almost straight away but not the full extent for another week, when the scale of the infestation, total, became apparent.
We complained to Rolawn about the substandard quality, even compared to the very cheapest local turf here in Kent. It must have been obvious when the turf was mown and harvested that it was riddled with AMG.
In their reply it is clear that they think AMG is endemic in turf sales and state they do not sell it free of AMG!
They are nurturing AMG in their turf fields over time and blatantly selling it on to gardener customers.
We now have around 75 holes in our small lawn, where AMG has been carefully removed and the hole filled with soil/ sand and reseeded.We expect this process to continue through to autumn and even then the lawn will probably require complete removal and returfing next spring.
There are reviews here about issues with delivery, but our one star is purely about product quality.
Sure the hauliers sub the delivery work but it still took place on the day required, with updated ETA info from each haulier as with any house delivery now, yes the edges are dry if its hot! and I never expected to lay it the same day at this delivery distance but the TLC input on arrival and overnight damping down and sheeting is nothing in effort, compared to gross AMG removal after laying.
I wish I had read the reviews before buying.

After total back garden restoration the last piece of the puzzle was to lay a nice new lawn.
I have been waiting literally years to have a rowlawn lawn to show off the garden.
I killed off my good old lawn and brought in 10 tonnes of new soil to raise the level 6 inches.
I pre furtilized the soil an waited delivery of my new row turf.
it arrived 1 day late without notification and was laid promptly.
After a couple of weeks I noticed bald patches but filled them with left over turf which was no problem.
What is a problem is the AMG which is in abundance!!!
I contacted rowlawn and treated me like an idiot replying to me with a generic e mail about it is normal.
Yes I know it is normal to have some which you can cut out,cross cut and rake out but I wouldn't have a lawn left!
I was totally brainwashed by the promotional videos.
Never again!
Glyphosphate here we go again!
Next time someone more truthful to supply my turf!

Be advised not to even think of dealing with this company. In a nut shell, extremely bad service and very poor standards at all levels. If you want to waste your money and time, you can give it a go.

Never order from this company. The positive reviews you may find for them are likely to be faked. Their delivery system is not suitable for the job. They use “furniture” trucks; not proper building materials trucks, for their deliveries. In addition, despite reassurances over the telephone, while ordering, when it comes to delivery, they would want to leave large building items, like topsoil bags on the curb. If this is not feasible, they charge customers £30/bag for their failure to deliver. Never to consider them ever again for any purchase of any kind. Such companies must not be operating in any respectable country.

I’ll start by saying not every thing about this company is bad and some parts positive and professional but here is why I have given two stars and believe this to be a fair review and a warning for others. After receiving our lawn and soil on different days (even though we ordered separately to ensure we had the soil first) we had to store the turf for almost 2 days while awaiting the soil delivery. The lawn had began to yellow slightly as we laid it. We didn’t make a fuss and just got on with it. However my real problem is the amount of Annual meadow grass in the lawn. We followed all of Rowlans recommendations for laying their soil, watering, cutting, keeping off it etc and done all the general maintenance this spring.

I know they say that they cannot guarantee no AMG in their lawns but jeeezzz we have soooo much of this stuff it’s crazy. It’s not only that we have it but it’s at the rate it spreads, it’s like the SAS of the weed grass world. You cut the heads, they come straight back and not only that, they grow laterally along the soil so not even the mower can get to them. It completely spoils the lawn and strangles out the other grass! it’s a lot thicker and a lighter colour to the rest of the lawn which appears in patches every where.

Rowlawns response was to grow the grass longer to hide the appearance and cross cut it which for the amount we have doesn’t do a lot (we have cross cut and change directions since it’s first mowings on their recommendation). We bought around 180 rolls from them and it was a big investment for us. I have sent pictures and tried to get a result being polite however it seems to be falling on deaf ears.

There customer service is pretty good before the presale and the technical assistance was also good. However I would like to warn any one who wants a nice lawn in the longer term to think twice. We bought this at the beginning of October and was told by them that the weather was still ok to lay their lawns. This annual meadow grass in big amount is pretty impossible to get rid of. we are now faced with ripping up the lot and starting again at a massive expense and a lot of back breaking work.

I have tried to remove some of it but it’s evident that I would hardly have a lawn left should I take the lot out. Rowlawn have seen all the photos and apart from the above suggestions have done nothing to rectify our problem. To them maybe it’s just a sale but to us it’s our home and a big investment.

I hope this may help even a few people as knowing what I do now I would have tried else where as their fields must have a lot of this AMG in the area. My neighbours have none in their lawns, well for now anyway. Hope this is helpful.

You will see from my other reviews that I’m pretty easily pleased normally.

Delivery was appalling. Ordered a bag of Lawn Topdressing bulk bag ( 0.73m3) and it was placed on the entrance to our driveway. A car was in the drive at the time so couldn't get out. I complained to the company and was advised that the delivery driver had done me a favour and the alternative would have been for it to have been placed on the pavement and it could be a couple of days before it would be moved. They do not have the facility to deliver large heavy dumpy bags of product in sensible locations. One to be avoided.

Absolute brilliant service. Ordered 4 bulk bags of soil which were delivered on time. Got a text the day before with a 2 hour delivery slot and driver called me 10 minutes before he arrived. Special thanks to Sam, the delivery driver. He was polite, professional and friendly. Rolawn are so lucky to have such an amazing guy working for them.

Poor delivery service, was due Friday didn't come, promised would be there all day, then pro. Used would be there next morning it's didn't come, rephoned to see where was and said it'll be there but don't know what time, it come at 530 tge say after delivery so had to lay it late in the night due to it pissing down with rain.... Totally crap service never use again

I had two orders with rolawn, both to be delivered on a Friday. They were both delayed and with delivery next day so if it is critical for you that the turf is delivered in the day selected don't count on them, they will use the excuse with the drivers shortage.
For the second delivery that should have arrived today and will arrive tomorrow I called them several times during the day and they assured me that it will be delivered on time. The fact that was not delivered on the day selected is causing me lots of issues and I might not even be able to install it.
As for the quality of the turf, I wrote them a complaint that it was yellow and ripped apart on some areas. All they said is that this is normal and once established it will come back to its green colour. They offered to check the state of the turf in 2-3 weeks after being installed. One week after the first delivery and the turf it looks ok. They also offered a 10% refund for the delay.

My biggest problem is with the delivery. Because the turf is delivered late and it's critical to be installed in max 24 hours you can imagine that the initial quality is not great and basically you need to take good care of the turf to recover and if you are lucky it might established. And as I said earlier, if it is critical for you to arrive on the selected day you better choose a different supplier.

Ordered 2 bags of Beds & Borders Topsoil on separate occasions, 2 weeks apart. Both times, the delivery was made on the expected day and the product was of the highest quality. Highly recommend.

clover/harvest mite infestation in the turf!

Customer Service is terrible, they couldn’t careless, say they are sorry we are experiencing this issue but don't offer any solutions to our problem.

We cannot step outside for more than 5 minutes and are covered in these mites!! I am having to remove all my clothing in the garden and tie in a plastic bag and transfer it to a hot wash, my animals haven't been allowed out for days as if harvest mites they will bite both humans and animals.

Honestly trying to get through to them with just how bad this really is so frustrating. I have spent lots of money on insecticide, Diatomaceous Earth, neem oil, you name it I've tried it, I've even had to take my cat to the vet due to irritation on her front legs where she is ripping fur out.

They keep saying they haven't had this issue before but that doesn't mean it isn't happening to me. They taking over our garden, eating the turf and over £2k worth of plants which we have purchased. To say I am extremely disappointed would be an understatement!! To say 'Britain's finest turf' on their website is a joke, I honestly think I would have been better off buying it from B&Q.
I will be taking it further, I have pictures of mites in the lawn, brown turf which is dying due to a large amount of these critters eating it. This is not the service or the product quality I expect from Rolawn.

I've been landscaping for over 25 years and by far the worse quality of turf used is Rowlawn Medallion. Contacted customer service, never even had a response. Avoid Avoid Avoid

Please stop and read. I spent a small fortune on having my garden landscaped over a 6 week period. Carted away 6+ tones of soil just in one area of the garden. The whole idea was to replace the Turf with rolawn quality turf.
However when the turf showed up, it was completely yellow. Yellow like hay. For all intent purposes the grass is dead and the rolls fell apart in our hands.
So we called Rolawn and they advised that we lay the turf anyway and that customer services the next week would either refund us or send us replacements which had been properly checked for quality as they state on their website.
From the customer service team on the Tuesday, they offered to refund us for 1 single lawn roll. Just 1! It was adding insult to injury.
Now I have to pay the landscaper to remove the turf and dispose of it as all the dead grass is blowing all over the yard like tumbleweeds. -5 Stars for you Rolawn!

I ordered 2 bulk bags of Beds and Borders Topsoil and it was delivered on the day agreed. I am no Monty Don but the quality of the topsoil seems quite good. No stones, so it is definitely sieved - time will tell on the nutrient levels. I will add more organic matter as a precaution! Overall - very satisfied.

Ordered a bulk bag of bark mulch. The service was absolutely flawless. Delivered exactly when they said they would (despite torrential rain) and the product is great quality. Would not hesitate to use this company again.

I ordered from Rolawn as I have used their turf from a stockist and found it to be good quality- however the service when ordering from their site was abysmal.

Turf was supposed to arrive on Thursday the 3rd of June so I had prepared a customers ground ready. I phoned the company about 4 times during the day to make sure everything was ok to which they assured me it was out for delivery between 6am-8pm and was fine.

By 6.15 pm I phoned the out of hours who informared me the delivery had failed and they would try again the next day.

However this was no good for me as I could not be at the job the next day, so I asked them to send a new lot in for the following Monday- but they could not do this and the customer service advisor said and I quote 'You may be better off finding the turf elsewhere', to which I did and cancelled my order and I am currently awaiting a refund.

Totally uninterested in the customer and for responsibility. I understand things happen, but over the entire 10 hour period surely someone could have contacted to let me know it wasnt coming so I could have acted appropriately at the job.

I laid a new lawn last July and the quality of the lawn it has produced this Spring is really poor, lots of rye grass and meadow grass which makes the lawn look very patchy lots of pale green areas and if you don’t mow every couple of days it is covered in seed heads from the meadow grass. I contacted customer service by email 4 weeks ago and am still awaiting a reply, so phoned as told they were dealing with my complaint and I would definitely hear by last Friday surprisingly I am still waiting

Ordered lawn top soil 3 weeks ago (£120), so far the delivery has been cancelled twice. We were supposed to do the lawn this week end!
Really poor customer service.
They claim to be specialist but I am not convinced yet!
Would not recommend as deliveries seem very sketchy and unreliable.

We had some topsoil to replenish some raised beds.
Delivered accurately and with no fuss. Good quality soil

i paid for top quality soil and it’s all pebbles and stones all over my garden and the soul kills all my exciting plants and it’s 70% stones and less than 30% very bad quality soil , my garden is like concrete not soil , i add some of soil to my indoor plants and kills it right away after few years i look after it , very very disappointed, customer service is waste of time also they saying their soil has to have stones up to 20mm ,
what the hell , my garden is full of stones up to 60mm and already emailed them the photos, but still they do nothings
i have to instruct solicitor
