Ich habe inzwischen mehrfach bei PokeninJapan bestellt und bin bisher sehr zufrieden. Die Auswahl an japanischen Pokémon-Produkten gefällt mir besonders gut und auch diesmal habe ich wieder einiges gefunden.
Meine aktuelle Bestellung umfasst unter anderem das 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon, das Pikachu 30-Card Complete Set und eine M6A 30th Celebration Booster Box.

Our staff does their best to provide guidance whenever possible. However, we cannot perfectly keep track of the customs duties, VAT rates, and other taxes that apply in every country. Therefore, when customers ask us about customs duties or taxes, we ask them to confirm the details with their local customs authority to ensure the information is accurate.
This information is also stated in our policies, cart, and checkout pages, but we would like to clarify it once again here.
We ship orders to the US under DDP terms, while shipments to all other destinations are sent under DAP terms. For DAP shipments, after the order has been shipped, any applicable taxes, customs duties, and fees will be separately collected by the carrier in accordance with the tax laws of the destination country.
PokeNin does not intentionally hide this information, nor do we display it in an intentionally inconspicuous way. We have also never stated that customs duties or other import charges would not apply.
We understand that this may be confusing for first-time customers, but please understand that international shipments may be subject to the appropriate taxes and fees required by the destination country.

**Update: 1 out of 5 Stars – Still Not Okay**
Seeing the store defend this practice as "fair for both sides" only reinforces why I'm leaving this review. A few points worth pushing back on:
**"This happens frequently, so it's normal."** Frequency doesn't equal fairness. Just because a store has done something for five years doesn't mean customers have to accept it as reasonable. Plenty of predatory practices are "consistent" — that's not a defense, it's just consistency.
**"Purchase only when comfortable with the price."** This assumes customers have perfect information, which they don't. Nobody can predict a 27% price drop within three hours. Framing this as the customer's judgment call ignores that the store controls all the pricing data and the timing of changes — the information asymmetry is entirely one-sided.
**"It's fair — we don't ask for more money if prices rise, and we don't refund if they drop."** This sounds symmetrical on paper, but it isn't in practice. The store sets prices based on internal cost data customers never see, and can adjust in either direction at will. Customers, meanwhile, are locked in the moment they pay. That's not a symmetrical risk-sharing arrangement — it's a one-way commitment dressed up as a two-way one.
**"Cancellations are subject to the fee — it's in the policy."** A policy being disclosed doesn't make it consumer-friendly. Plenty of unfair terms are technically "clearly stated" in fine print. A 20% cancellation fee doesn't just cover admin costs — it functions as a deterrent against customers reacting to the store's own price swings, which conveniently protects the store's revenue either way.
**"We never force anyone to purchase."** True, but irrelevant. No one is claiming coercion — the issue is that once you do purchase, you're stuck absorbing downside risk from a pricing system you have no visibility into, with a steep penalty if you try to adjust.
At the end of the day, a pricing model where the seller keeps all the information advantage, bears none of the downside, and financially discourages customers from responding to price drops isn't "fair for both sides" — it's fair for one side. I'd still recommend buyers think twice before pre-ordering here.

First of all, please understand that it is not unusual at all for pre-order prices to rise or fall significantly. In fact, this happens quite frequently.
Please purchase a product only when you are comfortable with its price at that time.
If the price increases significantly after your purchase, we will never ask you to pay the difference. Likewise, if the price drops significantly after your purchase, we will not refund the difference. This is fair for both sides.
Naturally, cancellations are subject to the applicable cancellation fee.
These terms are also clearly stated in our policy.
The timing of your purchase is ultimately based on your own judgment and experience, and any profit or loss resulting from market price movements belongs entirely to you. We never force anyone to purchase from us.
Our prices are also determined based on market prices and our purchasing costs. We do not intentionally offer products at prices that are significantly out of line with the market. Any price adjustments we make are simply a reflection of changes in the market.
We sincerely hope that these basic principles can be understood as they are, so that transactions can be smoother and more straightforward for everyone.

In my experience, their pre-order prices can be many times higher than the actual market price, while delivery can be delayed for weeks after release.
I paid heavily in advance, waited a long time, and later found the same products selling in the market for a fraction of what I paid.
Very disappointing experience. Be extremely careful with large pre-orders.

Pre-order pricing is not something we can predict with complete accuracy. However, our prices are determined based on factors such as current market prices in Japan and typical pre-order prices overseas, and we do not intentionally set prices significantly above the market.
It is quite common for the market price of a pre-order product to rise or fall significantly after its release. We always encourage customers to purchase only when they are comfortable with the price at that time, so that everyone has a fair opportunity to make their own purchasing decision.
Regarding delays of several weeks, we cannot say that they never happen, but they are very rare. In exceptional cases, delays may occur due to circumstances such as late shipments from the manufacturer or disruptions caused by major events, such as the recent typhoon in China that delayed the arrival of products from China.
These are circumstances beyond PokeNin’s control, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding.
