I canceled my services with optimum on…

I canceled my services with optimum on October 2025. It is may 26 th and I am still spending countless hours of my life disputing their billing errors. Over and over again different representatives have assured me the billing had been solved and today I received a threat to be sent to a collection agency. I take my credit score seriously and I will end up paying again. The managers and representatives at the phones do not solve any issues and they keep referring to the computer generated bills. They did not acknowledge their mistake or offer to clear the charge that I had been told was paid.

Terrible

Terrible, just terrible constant disconnects, constant "internet not available" popups, constant package loss, literally every five minutes. Can barely even load a web browser page without getting aggravated cause of constant connection drops or issues.

I had Optimum as my provider for over…

I had Optimum as my provider for over 12 years and it's getting worse! A week ago today there was an outage in this area. I was told by text it was resolved, however, my tv had a black screen with a message, "unable to connect to the network" Optimum provided a site to go to if the problem still existed, which I did. After unplugging and plugging the modem, cable box etc. etc. my tv screen was still black with the message. I've had problems in the past but still stayed with Optimum, but this time, I decided I wanted to cancel Optimum. The service is horrible and the prices are ridiculous. I'm a senior citizen, I don't drive so I asked if someone could pick up the cable box and was told they don't pick up. I was told a label would be sent to my email so I could have FedEx deliver it. I explained that I don't have a printer to print out the label but it seemed it didn't matter to them. They don't pick up boxes. So now, I'm forced to pay over $300 monthly for cable that I don't receive and don't want! This company is a ripoff and they DO NOT care about their customers. I don't care if a serviceman came to try to fix the connection, I wanted to cancel cable and keep internet only! Optimum is the worse and I would NEVER recommend it!

Never has a provider charged so much for so little.

Wow, I don't know if I've ever seen such a large company with worse reviews. But after trying deal with them, I can certainly see why. Currently on hold trying to cancel my mom's service because they charge so much for so little. Requested a call back over two hours ago, no call back received. And apparently calling them is the only way to cancel, no other options listed online, even after signing into the account. One point one stars is too high.

I never even got to try it as you have…

I never even got to try it as you have to have a coax outlet my house does not. I tried calling for a week to cancel after finding out no way around it. I was literally on the phone for over 30 mins with me having to yell at lady numberous times because she almost refused to cancel my service and when I asked for a manager she said there was not one available. She kept trying to negotiate reasons for me to stay not to mention. I am being billed for service I never even got to use. My device was delivered a week ago and I’m billed for an entire month! Everyone stay far far away from this crooked place.

A wrong assessment

I had Optimum internet and cable for over 10 years. Service is fair . At times ok, I never had mobile service but, they keep billing me for mobile phone since I had autopay which I dispute every month for six months. Now the say they are sending me for collection after i pulled out my credit card.

Can there be an option for zero stars? Terrible service, Terrible customer support. Ridiculous. Avoid at all costs. Run don't walk away from this company. Choose any other viable option.

Optimum mobile lied to me…

I was told the day we changed to Optimum Mobile that their service and the price they quoted would include service including data, texting and phone service to Costa Rica. When I got to Costa Rica I had no service at all. They lied to me to get me to change. I spoke with agents and they only could say SORRY. I hope that more people see this and realize they are not to be trusted!

They won't let you leave

I was originally with Suddenlink and had no issues. They were purchassd by Optimum and has been a bad experience. Price jumps, poor connection. Cancelling service seems impossible. Third day trying and on each call was told it was cancelled and I would recieve email conformation. Never happened. Do not trust this company. They will hold you hostage. I have now wasted hours on the phone being sent to multiple people with no resolution.

Brilliantly incompetent

Brilliantly incompetent. OMG if I ever have to deal with these people again I will walk straight into the ocean. The hold music is the theme track to my nightmares. NO I AM NOT "REST ASSURED" EVERYTHING IS TAKEN CARE OF. Three weeks to cancel a crack ass phone I didn't want. Only using them because I am forced to. On the day I can get back on ATT I will drink a bottle of champagne and cry tears of joy.

Awful

Awful! nobody knows what they are doing in this company!!! If you need help with anything prepare yourself at 1 to 3 hours on the phone getting transferred over and over to somebody new that has no idea what they are doing. I own a motel and spend 7 hours on the phone this month simply trying to get a new box its crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor and pick any company besides optimum, they are a joke and a waste of your time and money

OPTIMUM is a LOUSY (SCAM!) Internet SERVICE provider!

It's really a pity that TrustPilot does not allow for negative -10 to 0 to +5 reviews, because some companies really only deserve way negative reviews!
OPTIMUM, a company owned by German ALTICE (they acquired SuddenLink --- which I nicknamed SuddenlNOlink back in the day!,) has to be one of the worst and biggest scam internet providers around!
For the life of me, I cannot understand how they are even allowed to do business in the USA! They keep randomly increasing prices for the same LOUSY service (or lack of service!,) and no one seems to be able to stop them. Over the last couple of years my bill increased by more than $40! Why? For what? Speed is lousy, connectivity is still a hit and miss, often with no signal, lines down, modem needing to be restarted EVERY SINGLE DAY!, or there's no signal, etc.
But guess what: the prices keep going up! Just got my monthly bill, and there's no stopping these crooks from scamming people! I guess now we are charged extra for bad service!
No wonder their overall rating on TrustPilot is barely above 1 star! I'm sure if people were able to give them negative stars, they would be at the bottom of the hell pit they throw their clients in! Unfortunately, where I live, (Elkins, WV) there is no alternative, as OPTIMUM is the only company servicing this area... but boy!, would I run from them like from the plague if I could!!!
If you have alternatives, do NOT sign up with OPTIMUM! Chose someone else!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Service is useless and so is their customer support. I am currently on the phone trying to cancel a service I never got working. Currently beign held hostage for over 30 minutes and on my 3rd rep - JUST TO CANCEL! NO STARS! Highly do NOT recommend!

UPDATE: CSR told me after an hour on the phone that her computer was down. I am sure that this was just part of the abuse they make thier customer go through to cancel. She would NOT cancel! Would not give me a code. I was being switched from rep to rep to cancel because each one wanted to offer me new stuff to stay! ABSOLUTELY NOT!
I cannot create an an account. Everything I try gets kicked back. I know they are going to bill me and pull from my account. This place needs to be investigated. I have never in my life experienced such abuse of my time and energy just to cancel. I never got the product working and was given a lecture about how if I am inept I should have asked someone to set up for me. I have been setting up routers and in the tech biz for over 25 years. This is a circus. Someone investigate this fraud!!! If I get billed I will sue!

Optimum has to be the worst company…

Optimum has to be the worst company ever they will use shady business tactics to lock you into things you did not agree to bait and switch type situations and then even though they scream no contract, but they do everything they can not to let you out just look at the reviews

Be careful with Optimum

Be careful with Optimum. They take large payments from your bank account without proper warning or explanation. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this provider to anyone.

Had a terrible experience with the…

Had a terrible experience with the customer service. Hardly spoke English and couldn't understand them. Then when I did purchase the internet. Was told it would be hooked up the next day and paid the deposit. Got a text on the day it was supposed to be hooked up and said it wouldn't be till the following week. Called and asked why , got the run around then said it was denied for that day. I canceled the order and was disrespected and talked to rudely. Then told me it would be 3 weeks before I would get my money back. They are rude, unprofessional. Would not recommend them to anyone.

The worst experience I have ever had…

The worst experience I have ever had with a phone company. My mother signed up for an Optimum package w cell phone, cable & Internet. Unfortunately, the phone service barely worked. You literally had to walk around holding the phone in the air just to try and get a signal.
When my mother decided she wanted to go back to Verizon, the nightmare really began. Optimum customer service was beyond frustrating. They would not help us properly transfer the phone number they had given her, even though they originally told us it could be transferred. We spent THREE days trying to get this resolved.
We were constantly told emails were being sent that never arrived, text messages came with the wrong codes, and every phone call led nowhere. It felt like they stalled the process and made it impossible to leave their service. They keep you on hold forever hoping u will give up. They try to bribe you to stay.
In the end, my mother had to give up and get an entirely new phone number with Verizon because Optimum made the transfer process such a disaster. My mom just kept the phone with optimum and has a new one with Verizon. REALLY unnecessary !!!!
I would absolutely not recommend this phone service. Be very careful about believing the promises made when signing up.

As an Optimum internet client for 26…

As an Optimum internet client for 26 years, I regret ever starting its service. All my email and business contacts are embedded in the service which always has outages, simple functions to delete emails does not function, just as their servers are not capable to deliver service at scale. NASA has satellites in space that communicate reliably, consistently, and for decades: not Optimum. Instead of having core Internet services properly operating, they keep jumping ahead with new services advertised at great pricing to attract new customers. Optimum is a zero sum game, never sign on, never believe the hype as their servers and personnel do not belong in business. Not only are their services the worst, but also they revert to customer service arguing with frustrated customers.

AWFUL! Optimum is horrible. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS
The internet service is a joke. Our internet goes out at least 3 days a month.
We are working on our 6th day this month.
Couldnt get a tech out for 5 days last month. Had appointment set for today....well optimum canceled it so now we have to wait another 5 days for a tech. No customer service, just automated circles. When you do finally get thru to customer service they want to argue with you or "conveneintly disconnect" the call.
So yea, after this ordeal we now switching internet providers. Worst experience ever. Please please do not purchase this provider. You will regret it and most likely lose your sanity.

Liar salesman "PaPa" and Optimum refused to help – bill doubled

An Optimum salesman came to my house and lied straight to my face. He went by the name "PaPa," but given how he behaved, he probably lied about his name too. He told me I could get four cable boxes and internet for under $130 total. He pressured me to start service right away and install everything – all four TVs with cable boxes.

When I finally got my bill, it was $220 not under $130 like he promised. That's almost $100 more than what he told me.

When I called Optimum Customer Service after installation, they told me straight up that the price the salesman promised was not true and they could not honor it. I tried calling and texting "PaPa" to get him to fix what he promised. He told me he would call me back – and then he never did. He ignored my texts, ignored my calls, and never called me back. He completely ghosted me after lying to my face in my own home.

Optimum as a company should be ashamed. They sent a dishonest salesman to my door who lied about pricing, told me to install everything anyway, and then ignored me when the truth came out. And when I reached out to Optimum for help, they did nothing to make it right.

I have lost all trust in Optimum. Do not believe anything their door-to-door salespeople tell you – and don't expect the company to back it up either.
