After decades of loyalty to this…

After decades of loyalty to this company, I've decided to move on.

I called to reduce my bill and requested internet-only service. The representative — who I believe was an AI agent, based on its unusual patience and scripted responses — repeatedly attempted to sell me cell service after I declined it multiple times.

I was then offered a package that included my existing channels plus additional ones, with an internet upgrade from 300 to 500 Mbps at a discounted rate.

I accepted this offer. At no point was cell service mentioned again, and I believed we were discussing an internet plan change.

The next day I learned I had been enrolled in a cell service plan and a phone was being shipped to me — something I had explicitly and repeatedly refused. I called to cancel, visited their office in person, and was told it was resolved.

The phone arrived anyway and I refused delivery. A week later I received a billing notice for the cell service. I was forced to place a stop payment.

This is a deceptive sales practice, whether carried out by a human or an AI system. The service was added to my account without my informed consent, my cancellation requests were ignored, and I was given false assurances that the issue was resolved.

I would strongly caution anyone dealing with this company’s sales process to get every detail of any offer in writing before agreeing to anything.

DO NOT EVEN TRY TO USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY SERVICE! They are IMPOSSIBLE to deal with!
I signed up for internet service online for my new home last week. The same day my Son told me he signed us up for another company. So, I called back that afternoon to cancel. After talking to the worst customer service person that kept putting me on hold several times. I hung up and called back. This time I spoke got someone that could speak English. He told me he was unable to cancel because the equipment was sent out already and I would get it tomorrow. If I don’t want it, just send it back or drop it off at an Optimum store. That’s what I did the next day when I received it. The lady at the store said it would be taken care of. I called Optimum customer service the next day to cancel my account after I told them what I did. I was on the phone for 35 minutes going back and forth with him telling him to cancel my service and if he couldn’t, I wanted to talk to his manager. He said I had to wait 10 minutes. I did. I got a lady that kindly cancelled my service. I got a confirming email. To day I got a bill…I did not even connect my service! These people are NOT REASONABLE!
DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH EVEN TRYING THEIR SERVICE!

Worst experience of my life

Worst experience of my life. The service was extremely poor. When I tried to close my account, they refused to provide the transfer PIN. After spending 2–3 hours on calls and escalating the issue, they finally released the transfer PIN.

I'd rather be without a phone than ever use Optimum Mobile again. I strongly do not recommend their mobile service.

What did not go wrong

What did not go wrong. I, the wife, originally had internet at our first home. This account was under my name. My husband and I purchased another home and he set up a new account under his name. One month later, I cancel the services that are in my name over the phone. Because that is the only option there is. The gentleman that assisted me convinced me (horrible mistake on my end) to put the services that my husband had already established into my name with the shiny promise of 3 months free for being a loyal customer. Well here comes the rollercoaster of endless confusion. I turned in the old box to the store so I am not charged equipment fees seeing I already have a shiny new equipment box at my new home with fabulous fiber internet flowing through the lines as we speak. We get up Saturday morning to no internet. Ugghhhhhhh. So we get on the phone with customer service at 8 am. Talk with Jayne for an hour. She can’t do anything for us but tell us that a technician is coming to service perfectly fine working internet and equipment. Why??? She sends us to Brittany in tech support. Brittany says you should have that internet working in 2 hours. Why does it take two hours to type a command into a computer to reconnect the perfectly working internet? I mean. Make it make sense. They have the authority to disconnect from whatever office but do not have the authority to reconnect. I’m sorry but, whaaat? So guess what happened two hours later? You guessed it. No internet. Back to calling customer service. Tech support again cause we have the golden ticket. A ticket number that is supposed to grant us the holy grail. Internet. (cue the angelic song). Weelllllllll…….. cut the angelic songs because NOW, we need to pay a bill that is not due until the 17th to possibly get internet reconnected by possibly Wednesday. Excuse me?? This is the best you can do in customer service?? I am too old to play the “how many people do I need to talk to” to get service once again. Let’s hope ATT can do better.

as bad as it gets. I woke up with no Internet, Well they cut it off when they were not supposed too. Upon calling them and getting multiple people to talk to me and get the run around they even admitted to me on the phone they lied to me, I am not even canceling the appointment. I am going to let him come to think he is going to fix or install whichever the screwup is and let him take the box and cancel the service. I have already called AT&T, they are getting me turned on faster than Optimum can fix their screwup.

Service and Pricing

As far as my internet service is concerned I really don’t have any complaints. Now as far as the website, and talking to someone on the phone that’s another story. So I spent a little over an hour trying to get information about TV packages. That’s right over an hour to not get anywhere lol. First the website is absolute trash! For as much money as this company makes you would think that you would be able to just look around and get an estimate on what your bill would look like by adding a simple service like local tv with Discovery, HGTV, Animal Planet, Lifetime, etc. or streaming. Nope nothing but endless loopholes. Then if you want to chat you have to talk to a robot first with another set of loopholes. Then you finally get to chat with someone more than likely in India. ( no offense ) Talk to them for about 30 minutes just for them to tell you that you have to call for more Information. Well why waste my time chatting if you can’t do anything? Then you call, and it takes another 41 minutes just to tell you that a package is $170 month. Are you serious for the same channels I get on Direct TV stream for 39 bucks you want $170 and didn’t even offer a bundle price with the internet that I already have. If this company wouldn’t have monopolized the area I live in I would’ve stayed with AT&T. Nevertheless I digress. 1. I wish they would take a few extra coins and actually make their website a little more user friendly and accessible, not just for customers but for their employees as well. Because to take over an hour to get through a system that should realistically take only 10 minutes to get simple information is outrageous. 2. Can we please stop with the price gouging! It’s getting ridiculous people don’t make enough in this economy to be giving away free money. Especially at the price of groceries and gas nowadays. Simple luxuries would be nice. I’ll make out cheaper keeping Hulu, Netflix, Apple TV, and Direct TV Stream altogether than trying to get tv through this company. Mind you I barely watch tv but it’s nice to have just to watch a few shows from time to time.

Horrible company and customer service

Horrible company and customer service. Even getting started had to deal with taking time off work just so they could no show me on installation. Avoid and use starlink if able!

We have the fiber optic

We have the fiber optic, supposed to better faster etc. it takes about 5 minutes in the morning to get the TV running. You have to unplug several times, turn it on and off. No one you speak to seems to have an answer, you get transferred from one “customer service rep” to the next. Never a solution. This has been going on since March 2025.

After being Optimum customers for 18…

After being Optimum customers for 18 years (mainly due to lack of options in our small town), I called yesterday to cancel our service.
We finally have another choice! I spent 49 minutes on the phone with two different representatives…neither who would take no for an answer! Even after hearing multiple offers, etc…I still only wanted to cancel. They repeatedly asked questions and tried to keep my service. I was very adamant that I did not want to answer anymore questions or have further conversation…just to cancel. They continued to basically harass and basically try to bully me. WTH??? Before it was over, I was literally screaming at the person on the other end. Then, once it finally got done, she tried to sell me a landline! Seriously???
I have never dealt with any company like this one and have heard almost identical horror stories from scores of others. If you have ANY other options, steer clear of this nightmare!

The worst customer service ever

I was coming to warn people of the absolute horrible experience i had trying to cancel the movile service but i see everyone is already aware of how bad they are.

They will promise you everything under the sun to sign up and keep the service but dont believe them. I was promised a gift card (never received it) i was promised it would be a 60 day trial free of charge but i was charged within 10 days and they would not honor the trial and offered no refund.

I have to keep my optimum internet it is the only service I can get it is the worst I have ever seen I was using at & t all my life until we are out of the service area now I receive over 200 spam calls a day I know it is this company sharing my information I spend all my time deleting and blocking it is none stop i have to turn my phone off most days find a better internet company if possible

Optimum is a Toxic Waste Dump of Unbelievably Irritating CSRs

Oh my God, where to start? It should be a simple process to cancel my service. But No. They have phone zombies working for them. These people do not know how to help. They think by wearing me down, I will stay with them? Seriously? Not only am I reporting Optimum to as many regulatory commissions that I can, but I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER choose Optimum again. And I will share this very unpleasant experience with whomever asks me for a referral. Please. Whoever reads this, take them to account for the WORST customer service of any company on this planet!

The worst services I’ve ever gotten for…

The worst services I’ve ever gotten for being 25 years with Optimum. Internet service is horrible. They start with them doing a troubleshooting. Which don’t help at all ….I do that myself. I will be looking into other providers. I am not happy at all with Optimum. Their services is horrible. Then they don’t even want to credit you a little something just for all the aggravation & stress you have to go through. AWFUL SERVICE!!!!

NEVER GET OPTIMUM IF YOU HAVE OTHER CHOICES

Optimum Online takes advantage of being the only provider in certain regions, leading to regular blackouts, horrible customer service, and billing/ fine print that is not what was originally agreed to. I have been on the phone with Optimum today twice after failing to receive a callback last week to resolve my billing dispute. Optimum caused me to overdraft by auto-debiting me for an item that is currently under dispute, and without my direct permission to do so. Three hours later, the issue is still not resolved and the agents keep dropping the call with no attempt to call me back. If Optimum didn't run a monopoly, they would simply not be in business. Other reviews would prove this to be true. Optimum should not have to depend on having no competitors in order to do business.

Very poor customer service

I have never experienced such poor customer service from any other company. It is extremely difficult to contact them, and they keep you waiting for hours without resolving the issue. Luckily, we canceled the service, but they continued billing us for several months. Whenever we tried to reach out, they claimed the issue was resolved, yet the charges kept appearing again and again.

Awful Awful Company

Due to where I live Optimum had a monopoly on high speed Internet. I was forced to deal with a barely working app, Optimum sending third party scabs to "fix" my home connection just making me wait another week to get one of their actual techs to come in and fix it the correct way (the techs were all great), a customer service line that was just bots that ran you around in circles, and when you finally get a human they just try to sell you on their cellphone. Thankfully another provider was let in by the local government and I was eventually able to cancel my account. Which even after I dropped off my equipment and paid my "final" bill they sent me another one and when I tried to contact anyone I couldn't because the bots marked my account as closed. I just paid the $20 to not have to deal with them ruining my credit score, but can't stress how terrible their customer service is. If I could give them negative stars as a 20+ year customer, I would.

Very disappointing experience with Optimum Business

Very disappointing experience with Optimum Business Fiber.

An Optimum 3rd party contractor accidentally cut our fiber internet line, leaving our business without service for over seven hours during business hours. The outage caused significant disruption to our operations and substantial lost business revenue.

While we understand that mistakes happen, what was most frustrating was the response afterward. Customer service initially offered us a $1.00 credit for the outage. We escalated the issue to Executive Customer Service and worked with Debbie Gonzalez, who was professional and courteous throughout the process. However, despite acknowledging that the outage was caused by contractor error, we were ultimately told there was nothing further Optimum could offer beyond the prorated service credit of $1.00.

As a business customer paying for reliable fiber service, we expected more accountability and a more meaningful response to such a serious disruption.

Unfortunately, businesses in our area have limited comparable alternatives for fiber internet service, which makes situations like this even more frustrating.

The technician who restored service was professional, but overall we were very disappointed with how the situation was resolved.

Terrible

Really one of the worst service experiences ever. I've had the unfortunate experience of having to have optimum in a few different apartments over the years and it has never gotten better. Service cuts out all the time, they will hit you with random fees, and will never actually connect you with a real person.

The very worst company ever. Extremely poor customer support. Prices are ridiculous. Menu poor and they treat long time customers like garbage.
