car return and annoying policy on fines
Update: after a 9 month contract period, I arranged to return my C3 Aircross to mycardirect. After the negative experience with the fines policy, I was prepared for this to be a painful experience as I felt I was near or had exceeded my 1000 mile/month mileage limit (20p per mile over) and had sustained a dink to the boot lid somehow. Regarding mileage, I hadn't taken into account that the car was delivered to me with 2006 miles on the clock- one to remember for future subscribers. They were also very fair and didn't charge for the dink on the boot. The only impact on my deposit was the fuel shortfall - again reasonable. So a slightly warmer overall experience, but not one I'd probably repeat, for the reason below.
Initial warm glow has faded. Mileage was not a problem, as I discovered that the car Ive received 2 fines in the last 6 months (1 dart tunnel, 1 parking). Each time, their policy is to pay the fine, then charge admin fee of £48. In the case of the dart tunnel and parking fine I would have contested, but was prevented because by paying the fine, it's assumed you accept the penalty. The next update will be after the car return inspection in November, another test of a long term hire company.
First experience with a subscription…
First experience with a subscription service for a car, and was helped through the complete process. Tony was very helpful and the car was delivered and exceed my expectations and it was a higher spec that I thought. Will be definitely using the service again when I need to change the car

The customer support team have been very responsive and take time out to follow up and clarify any queries.
The have been very helpful taking time to find a car which meets my requirements in terms of function and price point. The delivery and return of cars has been well planned and smooth. Thanks to Jeffrey and Tony.
Terrible customer service
I rented a car for 5 months from my car direct. The rental ran from Feb until the end of June 2022.
The car was collected on the 4th of July. There was a chip on the window screen which required a repair. Identified at time of collection. The invoice for the repair came to £48.00. I have a copy.
I paid a deposit of £250, but after 8 weeks I have not received any notification of when the balance of my deposit will be returned.
I call every day and e-mail only to be constantly fobbed off and told it is with another department.
No one calls you back and emails remain unanswered.
I would avoid this hire company at all costs.
