I took my Subaru in for a transmission…
I took my Subaru in for a transmission flush. Totally the wrong place to go. As soon as I got it back I noticed I had a shuddering when I made a sharp turn. Took it back and they told me I was imagining things. Took it to a shop that specializes in Subarus and they advised my transmission may have been irreparably damaged by either the fluid they put in or something they did while changing the fluid. Had to have it flushed again and if problem doesn't go away I'm on the hook for a new transmission. No sympathy or help from Mr. Tire. I now have to look at legal options.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. Made appointment on line along with purchase of 4 tires, which they said they had. Showed up for appointment and tech said they did not have that tire and would not honor the price Mr. Tire quoted me. Even though I had it in writing. Said if I wanted the tire they would cost $500 more than the quote. Went to Walmart. They were very helpful and saved a little more money.

In Sept ‘22 I took my $100k sports-car to have a tire plugged. I felt secure leaving it with them since I knew a couple of guys that worked there. Bad idea. When I picked the car up, something was off, the manager said that they had taken it for a road-test. A test that was not required, nor did I authorize it. So I reviewed the dash-cam footage to reveal that two employees had taken my car for a joyride.
I called Monro head-office because the dash-cam footage revealed that the manager on-duty approved the joyride. Although they didn’t crash the car, they certainly damaged the engine because Supercharged cars are supposed to be warm before they are driven hard, there’s no way this engine was even close to being warm. The District Manager promised me that he would fire the staff concerned and compensate me with a new set of tires when I needed them.
Fast-forward to July ‘23 when my tires were worn and it came time to make me whole, I discovered that the original District Manager had left and his replacement, Mike Sisson, refused to return my calls. Even Monro head-office Customer Service ghosted me. So I’m left high-and-dry with no recourse other than involving the police and my lawyer.
To summarize, this location had no control of their staff, even the manager on duty. When you try to resolve the issue with their Customer Service team District Manager, they completely ignore you. IMHO this organization is rotten from top to bottom. .
Lower prices. Better trained. You should know how to drive a manual as well as a standard!!!!!!
Well, the guy who was changing my oil could not operate a stick shift, I had to drive it in ? Then it was 50.00. For an oil change! REDICOUS next time I will go to jiffy lube...at least they check and fill fluids, wash windows and vacuum.

Broke our TPMS and failed to return our wheel locks
We needed an emergency tire and TPMS replacement on our 2018 Chevrolet Volt while travelling in the United States. The Mr. Tire location on Blowing Rock Road in Boone NC could not get the replacement TPMS to work on our original visit May 1, 2023 or when we returned the next day. We were promised a refund for the TPMS part that was installed, but we haven’t got it yet. Later we discovered that they had failed to return our wheel locks. We had to spend $300 at our local mechanic when we got home to fix the problem.
UPDATE: After some time, we did receive a refund for the TPMS part installed by Mr. Tire. After leaving this review, we were contacted by Mr. Tire’s parent corporation, Monro, who said that they were sending us a refund for the wheel locks that were not returned to us and the work that our mechanic had to do to remove them. They refused to pay for the work our mechanic had to do to get the TPMS system working again when we returned home. He told us that Mr. Tire had not programmed the replacement TPMS that they installed to the correct frequency for our vehicle. We’re not happy with this company’s response to this issue.

Very impressed at the Shelby, NC location on April 22 2023. Andrea was very courteous, nice & professional. Even with only one shop employee working! She even put seat cover plastic & floor plastic in my truck. This is very rare now days & needs to be done more to respect & show customer courtesy. Treat others the way you want to be treated!!!! She even went over & beyond to apology for the delay due to staff shortage. This is the way auto service used to be & was expressed this time . I understand that Andrea is the manager at the Lincolnton, NC store filing in for the Shelby, NC manger that was out!! I will continue to use these two locations as long as this type of service is shown to customers. To prove that caring for the customer & customer satisfaction still is shown by some employees. These employees should be appreciated by the company!!

The typical Mr tire scam is to tell you they have tires for super cheap and then pull the bait and switch when you get there and tell you “Aw shucks someone just bought the last set!” (Even if it was only 5 mins from the phone til you get to their shop)

Walmart charges $10-$20 for mount and balance. Yeah me tire is hitting you with as many bait and switch charges as possible. It’ll add up to $63 somehow for two tires to be mounted…plus a bunch of other crap. After they hit you with $230 a tire bait and switch scam once they know you’re desperate, you think you’ll be paying around $500 for two tires when it’s all said and done? (Give or take a few dollars) nope. It’ll be teetering around the $600 mark due to hidden fees….no difference if you bring the car in or take the rims off the tire. How do I know? I’ve studied these people very closely as I’m writing a book about auto shop scams.

I will not let them work on my car. Inspection and tire pressure is all. I went a few months ago to the Mr.tire I’m granite falls to have my tires checked cause the light kept coming on. They said all of my tire sensors needed to be replaced. So I had 2 done and went back 2 weeks later to have the other 2 done. Well the sensors couldn’t program the to my
car. I even took my car to Mike Johnson’s and their machine couldn’t program them either. I called back to Mr. Tire for them to inform me that they were getting a new updated machine and the would call me when it came in. I guess it never came in. So it’s going to cost me over $500 to have Mike Johnson to replace the sensors from Mr.Tire. My experience with them was October 22 and November 5.

Last week I asked for a quote from my local Mr. Tire store via their website for new tires and installation. I reviewed the quote and ordered new tires. My quote was for 5 Yokohama Advan Sport A/S + 245/50R18 Tires, advertised on Mr. Tire website $211.99 each plus installation. Total for my quote was tires $1059.95 Basic installation for tires $99.95 and $25 for tire disposal for a grand total of $1184.90
When I picked up my car the total was for a whopping $1632.05 a difference of $447.15.
I did not ask for nor did I authorize an alignment but was charged for the service ($129.99)
I was also charged for lifetime install on tires which I did not request (123.96). I feel completely ripped off by this store and I am requesting a refund of at least the two items listed above (alignment and lifetime tire service.
Misleading selling practices
Today I went to Mr. Tire in Denver, NC to have a flat tire fixed. I was told by their customer service representative that they could not fix the tire because although the leak was still within the tread, it was too close to the edge. Then he went on to say that ALL the tires would need to be replaced because a new replacement tire would have more tread than the remaining tires…the car and ALL tires only had 15,000 miles.
The car is a 2021 SUV I purchased new and I decided to drive to the selling dealership to see what they had to say about the tire. I did not say anything about what Mr. Tire had told me. The dealership fixed the flat and said nothing about having to change ALL the tires. My cost fix was $39.99 plus tax.
Mr. Tire is misleading. Mr.Tire purchased this business over a year ago. Since the early 90’s I had been a customer of the previous owner as well as Mr. Tire. Unfortunately this was not the first time since Mr. Tire purchased the business that I have felt their practices were less than believable.
I will never go back to Mr. Tire…anywhere. Customer beware!

3000+ bucks dropped for nothing. These guys can't even fix motor mounts, struts. They will rip you off. We took our car to a master mechanic for Toyota of 30 years. They kept our car for days and low and behold we were scammed. First, the price. It shouldn't have been what Mr Tire charged us. Second, what they told us they did versus what they actually did are two different things. On a recorded line they like to give attitude, hang up and treat you like an annoyance. Well, you're right. I'm going to be up your exhaust so far that you'll feel it on a cooperate level. I filed a verbal + written complaint with their Cooperate branch. Per Mr. Tires standards, they will do ALL the work again. They will replace all mounts for A THIRD TIME. That's right a third time. All four. And they better not be faulty as they claimed is what happened after their first repair attempt. Now for the struts that are also terrible after we dropped over a thousand, you'll do them too. We had to demand the so called repairs that they did to be written out because they had no record. Now we will hold them to what we paid for no exceptions. And the argument of courtesy? Please. I'll courtesy not put up with your disrespect over the phone, the I don't know, the poor communication. You owe us 3000$ + in work, financial strain, exact factory parts that we paid for. I may even demand a partial to full refund and take our car back to Toyota if you can't handle it. I was nice, I was tolerant but I will not be scammed like your recent reviews warn. You will do what you were paid and contracted too. Your General Manager can give respect or get an earfull. I don't care. I didn't drop 3000+ so my girl could be conned on the grounds of you trying to blame the first faults on an employee that no longer works there, or your standard response of I don't know. You can expect multiple calls, and the car coming back. If that's too much and you'd like to play games, I can and will submit all phone calls to your cooperate office and go for some badges. As far as I am concerned, our car is still busted, you owe us 3000$ in repairs. Do it or we will be in for a refund of this amount and I'll give our car over to a way better mechanic and business. Call or see you soon. And no, I will not apologize for any rude behavior if you want to call it that or act like a child over the phone. We have the right to be annoyed, not you. I will video and record everything said so there is no he said she said. The games over.
WORST COMPANY EVER
If I could I wouldn't even be giving this company 1 star. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with! I had two tires replaced and an alignment done on my 2017 Corvette. I spent $1,800 and they treated me horribly! I was out of town 8 hours away out of town and realized I needed a new back tire. We went to Mr.Tire and ordered two low profile racing tires. Each tire was $720! They told me the tires would be in the next day and they could get us on the road by 2. Well we dropped the car off at 1130 when the tires came in and we ended up being there until 5:30! They could not get the tires back on the rims and were having problems from the start. When they finally finished it was pouring rain so I could not inspect my car. The person working on my car comes in to give me my keys and proceeds to tell me that my front tires are bald and there's no tread and they need to be replaced. I looked at him and said you've had my car from 11:30-5:30 and know I have a 8 hour drive ahead of me and you're just now telling me this. He goes I will pray for you. That right there was so wrong and so dangerous, my tire could if popped at anytime driving home and I could of died. I always thought upselling for a company was a good thing. Not one time did they mention it to me until we were leaving. Well that's when it really gets bad. We left and as soon as I stared driving I realized my alignment they just did was worse than when I brought it in! My steering wheel no joke was sideways! I called them back immediately and they told me I could get it fixed at a location near my home once I got back. Well then three hours into our drive home my tire pressure light comes on on the back right tire, That was the tire they couldn't get back on the rim. We pull over to get air and I then realize they damaged my rim and had also lost my special order air valve cover. Not at one point in time did they tell me they damaged my rim or lost the cover! I was extremely upset at this point. We get back on the road and 20 min late the air pressure light comes back on. We pull over again and got air about 5 times and then we got to a point where we were in the mountians and knew we weren't going to see gas stations so we had to use a can of fix a flat. Well when we put the can in it came spraying out of where the air valve stem is. So when they put the tire on they messed up the air valve stem and that's where it was loosing air from. It took us over 11 hours to get home from all the stops that should of taken us 8 hours. By the time we got home my tire was flat with 18lbs of pressure. The next morning it had 3. I called them immediately and told them what happened and they acted like it was no big deal. The manager there was absolutely horrible and was acting like it's not her problem. She told me an insurance adjuster would be out to look at the damage within 24-48 hours and it would get taken care of. Well this all happened on 6/27 and no one has come to look and every time I call to follow up she tells me she's done everything she can and it's not her problem. My $80,000 corvette is sitting in my driveway with a flat tire on a brand new $720 tire and a damaged rim! I am contacting a lawyer because apparently they arent' doing anything about the damage to my car or replacing the brand new tire they also messed up. I will be letting everyone I know what a horrible experience this was and I will be posting about it all over social media as well. I am sick to my stomach that this is how they treated my $80,000 vehicle!
Shady management
Had my vehicle into Mr Tire, Middletown, DE for left rear tire repair and tire rotation. At completion of the work, the repair was completed, but rotation was not completed, as indicated by the left rear having a patch/plug, and the front tires still having brake dust on them further indicating no rotation was completed. But, this office still charged me for the rotation! When confronted, I requested a refund for the rotation from Hal (Asst Mngr) and he said he could not give refunds, I had to see the manager, Chris, the next day. I went in the next day and the manager was still not around, although Hal was there, he was very rude and unhelpful. He said he did not know when the manager would be back but I would have to try and catch him later. I am confident this shop is overcharging on rotations, and lining their pockets with extra cash, because it is difficult to know if rotations are completed, and one must trust the shop that they completed the work. Be cautious of this shop and most likely all MR Tire locations. They are excellent at giving customers the "run around".
UPDATE: The corporate office for Mr Tire contacted me and has initiated a refund for the work that was charged, but never completed. Thank you!

I have always serviced my vehicles at Mr. Tire for several years. Recently, I took my daughter's 2019 Honda CRV for an oil change. Someone didn't put back the oil cap after the oil change. Only after the Oil warning red light came on the dashboard did she realize that something was terribly wrong. The following day, Thursday, June 24, I checked, and there was no oil at all in the engine. I went to Mr. Tire, and they ordered a replacement (non-Honda) oil cap and sent a mechanic to my house where the car was packed. The mechanic put in the lid and oil. They asked me then to bring the vehicle to their shop for further check. They cleaned the engine of all the oil spills and said the engine had not yet knocked. That was reckless. They were cooperative, and I am hoping that the engine is really not damaged. That’s a new vehicle.
