Used MJP twice, first for replacing our board and the second for a variety of bits (light replacements, minor safety alterations etc).
Both times they were prompt, good service, prices were fine (had a mate review them). Quality of the work is great, I can happily recommend them.

They don't offer free quotes, despite what they tell you. If you call in they say submit the free quote request and you'll have one in two weeks. Or pay £66 to get a quote right away, the cost will come off the bill. Well 4 weeks after submitting the form for the free quote we had no response, when I called to follow up they said if we needed a quote soon we should go for the £66 option. We did and had an electrician there that day. We told the electrician what needed doing and then added we'd be interested in knowing how much 4 light fitting changes would be, but this isn't an urgent task. The quote we get has no breakdown of costs, and when I ask for one I'm told they are like a restaurant and offer a service and are unable to breakdown the cost. Well no restaurant I've been to doesn't list the price of their menu per item - so that analogy made zero sense. When I mentioned that we told the electrician we just wanted to know how much the light fittings would cost, then the quick responses turned to radio silence. 3.5 weeks went by with no response and so we were forced to decide to either go forward with a quote for items we don't necessarily need or lose £66.

EDIT AFTER THEIR RESPONSE: I'm not sure why the response keeps mentioning that I didn't raise my concerns with them directly, as they also admit to having spoken to me on the phone about my concerns.

I commissioned Mark to carry out a EICR examination of a 2 X bed rental property for £240. Particularly impressed by communication and actually turning up when he said. Property tested and now the sting. A traditional plastic consumer unit was labelled a C2 ( potentially dangerous)
A guide by Electrical Safety First clearly shows this as something that should be "NOTED" & NOT labelled as either a C2 OR C3.
The estimate to replace together with MINOR other works was £ 1358.72. DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS.
As an ex NICEIC Electrian I know what mine are.

UPDATE !!!!

Employed another approved contractor for £140. Labelled consumer unit as a C3 ( advisory ) Still wrong but a lot cheaper than Mark's outrageous estimate.

Carried out a few jobs in our home efficiently and effectively, would not hesitate to use them again. Great, friendly service at excellent prices so would highly recommend. Also came out in short notice and didn't let us down, couldn't be happier.
