This has got to be the worse council…

This has got to be the worse council for issuing parking and camera fines in Lewisham they have messed about with so many roads saying you can only go down at certain times it’s so confusing the signage is too far back from the road to notice and by the time you see it your too late and your can’t reverse out as it’s against the law to reverse onto a main road, so your stuck and as a disabled driver I made a representation to cancel it and put forth as to why and immediately they said no and had to pay the £65 straight away or it will double in 14 days to £130 I’m a pensioner and am struggling as it is without having to pay this and they say if it’s not paid bailiffs will get involved and then the charges will add up and up,it’s so scary I’m worried, Lewisham council are doing this all over the borough and they need to be stopped as this is just a big money making ploy to rob everyone especially those who ain’t familiar to the area,they are not interested in what youve got to say because I feel they have not listened to me,plus they are a council who has money problems so they need to get their funds in other ways and this is the main way just like the mayor Sadiq khan has done to london Lewisham council are doing to Lewisham and this is totally disgusting to think that this world has come to this,also what hope is there for us especially as we’re getting older,I’m probably going to give up driving and take the buses but I’m weary of travelling alone but Lewisham council don’t care all they care about is getting your hard earn money disgusting and dishonourable, I had to give one star but if I could they would get minus 100 stars

Complaint process is pointless!
Local MP Vicky Foxcroft no where to get hold of her email is full bounces back!
It’s a nightmare to be part of Lewisham Council. It’s a day light robbery, our money is being diverted into their pockets to add on more stress in our lives, more anxiety, and no one is held accountable for anything!
Disgusting, shameful, sickening system.

completely broken authority that is not fit for purpose

This council is quick to issue fines, demand council tax payments...but if you have an issue with any of the services it is impossible to contact anyone or even speak with anyone. Trying to report a failed bin collection is impossible. Bywaters, the company name and number given on the internet do not know why?The councils own website has 'internal error' so cant contact them that way...the telephone as a breezey welcome with optional numbers to choose from...only to be cut off. you end up going in circles not being able to lodge your complaint. Enough to drive people insane.
This is a very broken council who definately does not serve the residence who pay the council tax . Time for a change come election time .....

Draconian parking rules

Draconian parking rules. I’ve had 2 tickets when I had actually paid. Parking attendants just say they can’t help and to appeal. All people want to do is visit friends, work etc and most tickets are just a mistake like mine. I typed in one wrong letter, pretty obvious it was right car. The app just says there’s a problem now so I’ve had to park streets away. Had to use loo first after 2 hour drive and got worried I’d get a ticket when I ran in to my daughter’s house. Why… just Why?Let’s figure out a more friendly way to sort this

Council tax staff non existent

Tried to contact lewisham council about several errors on my council tax bill. I initially sent an online query form...to which i have not received a response.
In the meantime i have received a red notice threatening court action demanding payment for the council tax ( for which i am not liable for/incorrect ).
I have tried to call several times but Was put on hold for several minutes which ultimately ended with the call being abruptly cut off. Threre are no counter services to speak with someone. Terrible council service. Some one needs to look into this predetory practice of their residence.

I paid for a garden waste bin 23/4/24…

I paid for a garden waste bin 23/4/24 and i'm still waiting for it to be delivered.
I have telephoned them,complained directly using their online form service and opened up a case via resolver and all of this has been ignored.
I have been left with no choice but to withdraw my council tax payments until the situation is resolved.
I suffer from severe anxiety and this has had a very negative effect on my mental health.

Sydenham high street traffic management…

Sydenham high street traffic management is appauling.
I am feeling badly and unfairly treated. Turning right onto Sydemham High Street from Mayo Road, I got stuck on the edge of the box junction. The traffic had come to a stand still on Sydenham High Street. Not something I could see happening. I came to a stop at the edge of the box , not in any way obstructing the flow of trafic from any other direction, ( the purpose of box junctions). No point in contesting the £65 penalty these councils are not reasonable bodies, just money grabbers! However I as a tax payer I do expext councils to sort out their urban planning.
No extras for the kids this weekend!

Disgusting service

Rude, incompetent and wasting our money left right and centre.
Been flooded 4 times in last year ceiling colasped mould from leaks and no one has come to repair. Been through complaints saying will repair still nothing. Put in another complaint now they dont respond. I feel like im living in a 3rd world country!!!!!!
Disgusting!!!! I will now not be paying my full rent or council tax i pay every month until you sort my flat out and make it up to decent homes standard

Warning to all private landlords if you give your property to Lewisham they tell tenants to stay in situ until bailiff's are instructed. If is not worth the time and hassle.

Useless Council

Lewisham council is the worst site I have dealt with to speak to anyone The 24-hour number is useless no one answers and when they do they cut you off I made a complaint to them on their site three times never even got an acknowledgement in the end I had to get the mayor of Lewisham to get my complaint solved wast of time trying to get through to anyone on this site i don't know what their staff are getting paid for

Too many rude staff

It's rare to come across a helpful member of staff and good staff don't seem to last long.

The Council Tax team deserve a mention as a group that I find particularly unpleasant to deal with - that is, if you able to get through to speak to anyone and not get cut off. On the other hand, I find the library staff very helpful.

Makes one wonder if managers in the Council are actually doing any managing.

some of these councillors needs to be looked at, there are corruption and fraudulent practices going on at this council, especially with their outsourcing contracts with NSL and Marstons Holding. some of the councillors are said to have received bribes

Absolutely useless. You can pay but not book a space. Parking restrictions start at 9am but help line not open until 9am. So potentially you can get a fine while on the phone waiting or talking to sort THEIR problem out. There is absolutely no way around this. They can take your money & then fine you all at the same time. At best it's a con & worst fraud.

I know your broke but please communicate with us better!

This council sucks. I was out of town and saw that I had a summons to court for unpaid council tax when I was paying, all I could do at the time was pay the amount. Only for me to return to my home to see a letter saying they found my payment and withdrew the court summons THE SAME DAY THEY ISSUED IT. This second letter was not sent on the online account which is baffling as I believe this would be an important notice to send online as well since they were so eager to tell me of my court summons online. Now they owe ME money. To contact them about this is abysmal, every option I pick just fed me information through the switchboard with no option to talk to a representative. Now I’ve had to fill out a form that would take 20 days to get a response.

I have many other complaints but it could take a novel. Dealing with Lewisham council makes me want to move out of the area just so that I don’t have To deal with them anymore. 😡

Sweet ine restaurant Lewisham

Sweet 1ne restaurant. The service was terrible. Waited ages for drinks, the food didn’t come on time, the main menu and side order come out separately, by then the main menu was cold. We also received the wrong meal which staff given to another customer after putting the plat in front of us. They don’t if we had any virus, buds or bacteria yet still they still went ahead and served the same food to someone else. We complain about the service to the manger he didn’t deal with the complain at all. The restaurant expected us to pay services fee for the horrible services/ terrible experiences.

Please remember some people attend a restaurant for the experiences, atmosphere and the ambiance not because they cannot cook so we experience a kindness dealing with food and good customer services. The staff at this restaurant are behaviour like we owe them something, when we are paying for our food/service.

This the worst service I had received
Definitely WOULD NOT recommend this restaurant.

No one to talk to about Council Tax. Automated system only. Unable to clarify correctness.

No one to talk to about Council Tax. Unable to clarify if a recent update is correct and if I need to pay? [I thought I was all paid up, but some changes to my benefits may have effecting things? I don't know because, again, no one to talk too. Only an automated system that takes you through to make payments].

I have a health condition where I need to avoid stress. Not been happy with Lewisham services since moving into the borough in 2022. Hopefully moving out later in the year. Don't plan on returning.

Thankyfull a kind lady [operator] said they will send an email asking for a call back. Fingers crossed.

Bloody Useless

It took them 15 (fifteen months) to renovate a one bedroom flat, we were offered the property July 2022 moved in October 2023. They made all sorts of excuses, as to why it wasn't ready, all the while knowing we were to be evicted, from the temporary accommodation we were living in.
I can't express the amount of stress we were under and feeling.
As for the Manager not taking our calls, only added to the stress/issues, I rang many, many times, 4 (four) days, in a row at one point, left my number each time, yet allegedly she was always in a meeting, not once did she get back to us. I'm not sure how she got her job, probably the same way she's managing to keep it.
There are only two members of staff I'd give any credit too, that's Sandra Gordon and Rose, as for the rest of them, I'm not allowed to say what I really think. I WISH I WAS ALLOWED TO GIVE THEM 0 (ZERO)

Parked at Blackheath Grove Car Park and…

Parked at Blackheath Grove Car Park and properly paid for four hours parking using the PayByPhine(as the sign said) app at 1 pm today. Have evidence and car was parked properly and still got a ticket from Lewisham Council for £130 at1.40 when I had more than 3 hours left to go. It’s fraudulent behaviour when they know that people have already paid. They hope people won’t take the time to appeal and just pay again. It’s CRIMINAL and greedy behaviour by Lewisham Council. The car park fees are also daylight robbery. They should be held to account by the Courts. The parking attendants are committing Fraud!

Nonchalant attitude

My experience with Lewisham council, spans back 20 years. With the exception of the planning department whereby my experience was perfect!

I've experienced staff members in the council tax department that lack customer service skills and manners when handling calls and queries. I've experienced a torrid time with Lewisham council as freeholders, and the best thing that they did, was to handover the freeholds to L&Q.

The problem with Lewisham council, is that they have a dedicated contact number/email for tenants in regards to landlords disrepair, but they don't have the same platform for landlords.

For example, if a tenant had an issue with damp, mould and condensation, the tenant should report this to the landlord in accordance with the terms and conditions of ast agreement. However if the landlord only discovers damp, mould and condensation via a routine mid-term inspection and then addresses any/every issues on the report, the tenant should show some appreciation that the landlord is acting quickly.
What happens when the landlord resolves all of the above problems, with proof and confirmation of works carried out, sends the tenant a dehumidifier and guidelines on damp, mould and condensation, but the tenant doesn't use the brand new dehumidifier that has been in the box for 6 months and doesn't ventilate the room as instructed since June 2022 to date when new windows were fitted?

When you call the same person from Lewisham that sourced the tenant, explaining the situation and making reference to Waab Ishtak, suggesting that someone should come down now, asap to observe the situation, it is at this moment, you realise that no one in the council really gives a sh**!

It's just a job.

You'll exhaust all the avenues, trying to contact Lewisham councils disrepair dept, Lewisham Housing, PSL, sending them case studies, highlighting what you've done, and 6 months, 1 year and 18 months will pass by and nothing is done!

When you're dealing with a tenant whose child has asthma, you need to cover yourself and ensure that you're following the correct protocols.

What happens when the tenant also has a nonchalant attitude, and you think okay, maybe I actually care more about the welfare of your child's health than you do!

I will tell you when Lewisham council will eventually respond. They will respond at the time when its fatal or at worst death!

All of a sudden, you'll discover that a manager does exist in this non-existing department.

Mark my word, that they will try and use the landlord as a scapegoat.

I will welcome them to try that please, because any judge in England, would see and state that I've gone beyond the call of duty, and the people that will be accountable would be the tenant and Lewisham council!

Another problem I have, is with this incentive scheme that Lewisham provide to Landlord's. The £4,500 package received by landlord's, does not guarantee a tenant that they're going to have a good landlord and vice versa.

In reality, this package is just sweet and sour. In that I mean is sweet when you receive the funds, but what happens when your left with a tenant who clearly isn't a fit and proper person?

As a landlord, it is our obligation by law to provide all tenants with the following before commencement of an ast agreement;

1) How to rent guide
2) EPC
3) Landlord's gas certificate
4) Deposit Protection Certificate & Prescribed Info
5) landlord's Licensing (If applicable)
6) General Data Protection Regulation Letter/Notice
7) Ast Agreement/Addendum to add clauses
8) EICR report

Failure to do any of the above can results in heavy fines for each one.

The problem here, is after the landlord has provided all of the above documents, the tenant just turns up with a deposit, proof of 'Right to rent' checks and references.

Moving forward, especially with the proposed 'Renters reform bill' it should be made mandatory and statutory that all tenants provide a landlord with;
1) "Tenant's insurance."
2) Confirmation of a basic tenants awareness course certificate/card that confirms "this tenant has completed 20 hrs of competent testing," confirming issues of damp, rent arrears, responding to eviction notices, disrepairs, servicing of boilers, MVHR's, pressurised hot water cylinder servicing etc.

Tenants need to be educated in the same manner landlords are.

Lastly, rather than give a landlord £4,500, you should take at least £1,000 to £1.500 from that incentive and use it to run special courses on training up your tenants to be aware of procedures applicable to the tenancy agreements they sign!!!

In a misguided attempt to drive down costs through reducing staffing this council has attempted to modernize. However the automated telephone system and website just isn't fit for purpose. Its virtually impossible to speak to any Public Servant!!!!!.
