They are a really bad council; they mischarged the council tax, putting double the amount for next month! A council tax should be £190. They charged £840. They never responded back; this is absurd! Outrageous!

Lewisham council is an utter shame when it comes to cancer. They are the hardest borough to get a gym transfer. You can only apply a year after treatment is completed even though physiotherapists want you to get exercising and moving ASAP. It is also good mentally but Lewisham council does need to make some extra payments off cancer patients!

It's like Lewisham council actually pay people to fly tip rather than clearing junk from its streets. The things they actually do - such as their attempts at gardening - make the area worse. Lewisham council are actively turning their area into a ghetto.

I subscribed last April 2025 to the weekly garden waste. It is middle of June and they picked up the rubbish every three or four weeks. I had to call them and complain every week to make this happen. The service does not exist and I lost my money.

I complain about my neighbours left rubbish near my door the Lewisham council ignored done nothing but sometime ago I had some chair near my garden door they decided to leave me a warning saying that blocked my door...but regarding the rubbish left near my door they ignored...

I tried to log on to Lewisham Council Planning Department to leave comments on a planning application. Slogged through to "Register". Got an email to confirm but when I clicked on that got a "This Site is Not secure" message, and could go no further. A friend tried to register in his own name, using a different email and computer, but got the same.
Tried to 'phone the Planning Department. Got a "Sorry, Planning are not taking calls" message. Reverted to Operator, got a "sorry, operator is not taking calls", message.
Well done Lewisham Council.

Made a genuine error on the PayByPhone parking app which I received a PCN for. I went through the appeals process showing them the evidence I had and common sense prevailed and the ticket was cancelled. They could have insisted I paid the fine but could see it was a genuine error. Be careful you select the right kind of vehicle on the app before paying!!

Victor okolo senior homeless caseworker been caught out in corruption stitching up a disabled homeless guy of 60 years old this guy was passed on to him after another case worker Dwamena, Dion got caught in doing the same thing, this person is very badly injured after multiple operations and has to live in the back of his van, they are obligated to help him but stitch him up, I have proof of everything these low life people have done, they need to be named and shamed, they want him off of ESA and on UV to get him slum landlords to help him, it's the local government who pay his housing benefit not UV due to him being on PIP he's on high mobility as he can barely walk, LEWISHAM NEED TO BE CAREFULL ABOUT THESE LOW LIFES this is disgusting, he now has suspected throat cancer due to the ice cold air he breaths in and blood vessels are bursting up his nose due to this and after he has called 6 times in 6 weeks they don't even call him back, WOW, this is in my eyes now assault.

Worst Council in the whole of London would never recommend anyone going to this dump my flat was flooded in sewer water for three months mould for well over 2 years not one bit of work has been fully carried out iv still got Work was never been carried out from the day I moved in over three years ago now Not a single bit of help from any one in the terrible council or landlord or PSL officer Better off going Bromley they literally look after their Tenants are not treat them like shit like Lewisham they treat you like crap And very unprofessional I don’t know how Council has not been shut down for a terrible day off everyone in this Council needs to learn how to do there job wouldn’t even give this Terrible council half a star there That bad Beware of the bad neglect you will get if you go to these people

Lewisham Borough Estates & surrounding area Parking Permits. This review is mainly subjected for the small SE16 Estate area of Lewisham but others area are also welcome to add there opinions etc. Will try to keep it brief. On the 15th January 2025 to encourage people to walk, cycle or use public transport a sustainable street programme was launched. A4documentation was hand delivered to residence but not all & many residence are still unaware of this program as they received nothing. I received this document on the Friday10th which only left 5 days to register, signpost were previously put up but covered & road markings (Double Yellows lines) marked on streets but not yet fully completed. Due to short time scale I quickly registered my vehicle starting from Wednesday 15th January as stated by letter. I own a Diesel so the cost for a same size bay is extremely higher @ £317.18 per year which I think is totally unjust. I do not use my vehicle often as I also have to pay the congestion charge @ £12.50 per day & mainly uses it for a few trips when travelling beyond London loaded with family as it is a 7 seater. Why if already paying this charge are we hit with a higher charge as a resident to park a stationary vehicle. NOTE: A parked non running, stationary vehicle does NOT contribute to pollution. Another point is this area enforcement was due on 15th Jan, as of yet signs are still uncovered & lines unpainted. I am already paying am I entitled to get some refund for the day until it is properly enforced? as it cost £0.74p daily to park on street.

I want to thank Nina Morris for the support and effort she's put into assisting me through what has been a very frustrating and difficult process with Lewisham Housing. While I'm still dissatisfied with how things have been handled overall, I do appreciate that Nina took the time to listen and provide clear evidence, which has been helpful. That said, I feel that a simple courtesy call would have been a more respectful approach, especially given the life-changing nature of the issues I’m facing.

While I’m grateful for Nina’s assistance, I still feel there’s room for improvement in how these situations are managed. Thank you again, Nina, for your understanding and support.

I received a PCN for driving down a Leahurst Road my google maps took me, fair enough my own
fault for not looking at signs properly. The issues is that I did not receive a first warning, only a second that was £195! The letter said you can no longer appeal this. I called and explained that I had not received the first letter did they have any evidence of sending this. The women on the phone happily reduced my fine to £65. I believe they are sending these 2nd warning letters to scare people into paying more as it says you cannot appeal.

We pay road tax LTN at 8pm at night is unreasonable., Just another way to make money.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of understanding and compassion shown in this situation. On the day in question, I parked in a permit holder area for just 8 minutes during a genuine medical emergency involving my disabled mother. She has severe health issues, is wheelchair-bound, and requires constant care, including immediate access to facilities.

Despite clearly displaying her Blue Badge and acting out of necessity, I was issued a PCN. I explained the circumstances, which included her chronic conditions and the urgency of the situation, but my appeal was not handled with the empathy or fairness one would expect.

In a genuine emergency, how is it reasonable to expect someone to search for pay-and-display parking, especially when a Blue Badge is meant to assist disabled individuals in such situations? The purpose of the Blue Badge is to provide flexibility in emergencies, and penalizing this goes against its very purpose.

This experience has been deeply upsetting. It feels like genuine emergencies and the challenges faced by disabled individuals are disregarded. I strongly urge those handling such matters to show more humanity and understanding in cases where there is clear evidence of unavoidable circumstances.

Update: They had a certain time period to respond but didnt then told me due to an error the ticket has been cancelled but it wasnt due to the appeal. Guess they didnt want to goto court so waited out the time period

Parked in clarendon rise car park which has been free for motorbikes for years. Went and checked the main sign anyway to be sure. It had new tariffs for various vehicles but had no mention of charges for motorbikes. On my return i had a ticket. I then found on the main sign a small code for motorbikes but no other mention. In the motorbike area i found a sign 9ft up a lampost. The sign had a large code for cars and next to it taped on was a code half the size for motorbikes. There is a fence around the motorbike bay that could easily hold signs saying motorbikes must now pay but instead they hide the fact so they can issue fines to motorbikes. A motorbike is 80p an hour which wasn't on the main sign. I was in lewisham for 2 hours is it really possible i would avoid paying £1.60 for the chance to get a £80 fine. I have appealed it and made a complaint asking them to install clear signs. They said they uphold the ticket as there is visual proof on the photos that shows about motorbikes. The proof is so far up the lampost the picture they supplied cannot be read so i responded with no way and lets goto court.

To provide a balanced view, Lewisham council provides many useful services to the residents of the borough and that is appreciated. However, they fully take advantage the people of Lewisham and any visitors by their complicated and poorly designed (or perhaps craftily designed?) parking and traffic restrictions. They likely fund their wages from the myriad PCNs received by unsuspecting drivers who hardly have opportunity to safely familiarise themselves with an area the first time they drive there and subsequently receive a fine for not reading a sign indicating some new type of traffic restriction.
In particular, school zones which restrict motor vehicle traffic only at certain times of day are a hazard when not properly sign posted and when the road itself does not clearly indicate a change in access. It's really just another corrupt way to meet budgetary needs, disguised as concern for the wellbeing of the local people...
