Do not order from outside the UK - Nightmare return

I ordered a pair of shorts via a Dutch marketplace. Unfortunately, the shorts did not suit me quite right, and I needed to return them.

I wrote to their support team several times regarding the return shipping. When I placed the order, the shipping fee was €5,95, which led me to assume the item would be shipped from (and could be returned to) a hub within the EU. However, the item had to go back to London.

As a private individual shipping from Germany to the UK, my only viable option is DHL, which costs €15.49. This is more than three times the original shipping cost and quite a heavy financial burden for a single return.
I do understand that returns are something to be avoided, but let's face it: Sometimes the measurements are right but the clothes just do not look the way we want on ourselves. I am generally willing to take that risk when online shopping. I am generally willing to pay shipment and return cost in order to "shop like I give a damn", but the fact that the shipping cost are at least 3x of what a "normal" return would be really shocks me.

Customer Service never responded.
I gave them several suggestions (e.g. they could have paid for a cheaper return ticket using a company account for dpd or Hermes) and I would have paid the whole return fee. No response.
I ended up paying 15,49€ return fee (so overall more than 20€ in shipping) for 45€ shorts that I did not keep. And even if no return fee would have been covered by the company, I still expect a response. Sustainability is not an excuse for horrible customer service.

Edit (Answer to the reply): I bought the shorts via Shop Like You Give a Damn, yes. I still do not see understand why my messages to komodo's customer service were ignored. Informing me about the fact that the marketplace will help me would have also been a kind of response.

Hi Anna - I think you bought these shorts via Shop Like You Give A Damn. Did you contact their customer support about this? As you bought from them they should have been your point of contact for any issues and I sure would have helped you in this matter.

Peace and natures colours

Clothes are very amazing, very beautiful. The scent was very mild. It is good. I feel that you have done your best that our environment can live wild and free and stay so pure as it is possible when someone makes clothes. Thank you. I love my new clothes peaceful "Mother earth" colours.

Shirts are great

Shirts are great. Unfortunately all sizes didn’t not fit me. I ordered M but were still too big for me. Delivery with DPD was a nightmare and I really hope they changing couriers

Amazing

The quality of the fabrics and designs is exceptional.
For years now, Komodo has been my go-to brand for shopping.
I also like that it's an ethical brand.

J'ai commandé un pantalon le 9 avril 2026 . J'ai été débité, aucune nouvelle de l'expédition et toujours aucunes nouvelles après plusieurs mails . Je sais pas où s'a bloqué.. j'habite en France et c'est énervant d'avoir aucunes informations de vous Komodo . J'ai commandé directement sur votre site . Est il vraiment envoyé , bloqué à la douane .. une p'tite info s'il vous plaît .. merci .
