Utterly farcical.
It took a few days to dispatch the one item which was a small steel splash back.seemed like it was standard stock.
DHL collected on. 28 July.
The tracking information showed it was due to be delivered 29.7.2026 but also showed it was delayed.no reason given by DHL nor by Ironmongery Now
Finally put on van on 31.july.
Despite assurance from delivery company ( division of DHL) and guesses by Ironmongery Now that maybe DHL were short of drivers because of school holidays... the item never arrived.
The delivery company phoned and said their customers insist business deliveries are prioritised over residential customers like me. So who knows why they failed completely but all my dealings led to varying stories.
Final tracking message on 31 july said delivery driver's hadn't been been able to gain access to my address....but the post man did. The Milk man did, even the ice cream van did. There was no attempt by DHL to access my address. But they won't put that on website tracking. DHL tracking said delivery would be attempted 3rd August. Then on 1 August received text saying it was out for delivery...too late
Paid with Paypal. Got refund through them on 31 July .
Utter nonsense dealing with Ironmongery Now and with their chosen courier.
I have other things to order and had had this first item been a good choice would bo doubt have gone back to Ironmongery Now but they won't be getting any return business from me.

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry that the service you received from DHL has led to you leaving us this review. We are unfortunately at the behest of the couriers once items leave us and it is extremely frustrating and disappointing that this is the experience you have had due to this.
Your order of a splashback is made to order to ensure you receive the best quality product from us whether it be a standard size or a custom size.
In regards to the tracking from DHL we only see a little bit more information than yourself, which is why we contacted our account manager on your behalf who then in turn contacted you to assure you with the delivery information as they see more than all of us due to the access they have to the systems within DHL.
Your order was attempted to be delivered on 1st August at which point you have refused the delivery.
A complaint has been raised with DHL on your behalf as this is not the service we expect our customers to receive and we are bitterly disappointed that it is the experience you had with them and in turn with us due to their failure for delivering on time.
We can only apologise for this service through our chosen courier.
We only use DHL for our splashback and chopping board deliveries due to their size and weight, any other orders placed with us are dispatched with Royal Mail. Therefore, if you would like to purchase from us in the future for anything other than a splashback or chopping board we will endeavour to look after you and your order to the best of our abilities.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry that you are unhappy with the returns terms and conditions as stated on our website and communicated with you via email.
Our returns T&C's do state that if orders are unwanted then they must be returned at the cost of the customer. If any items are damaged or faulty then the return will be covered by ourselves.
Unfortunately, selecting an incorrect colour does not warrant the return as faulty or damaged. We have the handle you ordered from us in both Gunmetal and Matt Black and this was sent to you via email when you informed us you had thought the handle was meant to be matt black. There are multiple images on the product page and you can see that the product is a dark grey. Gunmetal has never been described as a black colour, but gunmetal grey.
We are very sorry that you are unhappy with the outcome, but we are happy to accept your return for a full refund.

Excellent service
I purchased door furniture kits for my new internal doors at a very good price from IronmongeryNow. Delivery was prompt and I was very pleased with the goods.
Never having fitted privacy door handles before I requested fitting instructions which I received by email the same day.
A week later I realised I had thrown away an essential part of the handle and I contacted them for a replacement. They responded within minutes and having checked their stock sent the replacement the same day at no charge.
I cannot speak highly enough of the company and especially the girls in the office.

After many emails and a poor review on Trust Pilot I eventually got a response from Ironmongery Now. I was issued with a full apology, indicating that due to lack of staff they had been trying to cover the best they could. A replacement order was processed and sent out the following day.

Thank you for your feedback, we are very sorry that your order did not arrive in time and you struggled to get answers to your enquiries. This is not the service we expect our customers to receive and some further staff training has been issued this week to resolve these concerns.
I have checked our system and can see that our ecommerce executive opened a discussion with you on Tuesday after their return from annual leave in regards to your order and contacting the courier to locate your order, they also arranged for a replacement to be dispatched for next day delivery due to the inconvenience and the delay in someone responding to you. I can see that the replacement order was delivered the next day as promised. And that our ecommerce executive did check with yourself to confirm the receipt of the goods following the delivered notification from the courier.
I can only apologise for the service that you received from us last week as it is not to our usual standard, and as previously mentioned we have taken steps to ensure that this does not occur again.

Unreliable delivery and poor after sales service
I placed an order on 11/3/26 with a stated delivery time (actual not estimated) of 1-2 working days.
It arrived on 19/3/26. This was too late for my project so I had to buy an alternative product with expensive guaranteed next day delivery so my joiner could complete the project.
I contacted Ironmongery Now to arrange a return and was told I would have to pay for the return postage because the delay in delivery was the fault of Royal Mail rather than their's. They failed to acknowledge their liability in advertising a 1-2 working day delivery time which was not even close to the actual delivery time. They continued to blame Royal Mail even though as a consumer my contract was with Ironmonger Now not Royal Mail.
I would advise you to avoid using this company due to unreliable delivery, poor after sales service and disregard of consumer rights.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that you are unhappy with how long the delivery with Royal Mail took. Unfortunately, this really was beyond our control.
I can see that this has been explained to you via email communication this week. However, I will address each issue within your review now.
You placed your order with us after 1pm on 11/03/2026, and as stated within our delivery information on the website, we aim to dispatch all orders placed before 1pm on the same day. Therefore, as your order was placed after 1pm it was then dispatched with Royal Mail on 12/03/2026. We also do not state an actual delivery time of 1-2 days. Our website delivery information states all orders will be booked on to a 48 hour service and that all delivery times are estimations and should not be relied upon as 100% accurate. As the performance of carriers is beyond our control and that we strongly recommend that any tradesmen are not booked until you have received the goods.
You did contact us to request a return and stated the item had not arrived in time, to which you were informed as part of our T&C's within our returns section of the website that any unwanted products are to be returned at the cost of the customer. We cover the cost of returns for any faulty, damaged or short products. We did apologise for the late delivery of Royal Mail and informed you that we had made a compliant with them on your behalf due to this issue. You then informed us that your order had still not arrived, despite requesting a return already. To which we investigated further on our system with Royal Mail, which showed they had collected your order at 4:30pm on 12/03/2026 and it had been scanned as received on 13/03/2026 with no movement again until 17/03/2026. We asked for you to wait until 19/03/2026 for them to attempt delivery as once it has been scanned to in transit, it usually takes the 48hrs for them to deliver orders, and your order was then delivered on 19/03/2026 at 9:42am. In our response to you on 18/03/2026, we offered 2 different options in regards to the product whether you would like to keep it once it was received and a refund of your original shipping cost as a gesture of goodwill due to the inconvenience of Royal Mail or to be refunded once the item has been returned to us.
I can see that we received no response to this email and you have then left us this review. I am very sorry that you were unhappy with how the issue has been handled, however, we have tried our best to rectify this situation for you.
