Very disappointing
I’ve had cash health insurance for over 22 years and always submitted the same proof of purchase which displayed the type of treatment I received every time without question until now.
This was my first claim I made and was extremely disappointed in the claim process and distrust in me that my claim was not genuine.
I submitted my claim for prescription lenses for my partner who is on the claim on 13/07/26, then 15/07/26 I received an email advising me to check a notification in my account. The notification was a request for me to submit my partner’s prescription to confirm his claim. At first I was not sure what this meant as I have been wearing glasses for 54 years and never been asked to provide proof of prescription, neither in the 22 years of making claims.
When I enquired via customer services, I was told the reason was because the amount claimed was high. I was surprised by the response, as I’m sure your company is aware that dental and optical treatment are usually the most expensive out of all the treatments on the plans, hence why such plans are taken in the first place so that we can spread the costs monthly.
If clarification was needed to confirm the costs of my lenses, all the contact details were on the receipt I had uploaded and an easy telephone call would have avoided further delays. I as was also advised to avoid such delays in the future to submit prescriptions with receipts!
During the call I explained the proof of prescription was not given until the glasses are ready for collection and advised to contact the opticians if confirmation was needed.
I do not appreciate the mistrust on a genuine claim and delays were not necessary. Also, I remember before making the claim reading that checks would be made to confirm the claim if needed, which I expected was through contacting the business who provided the service.
Please bear in mind that certain services give you the option to make payments in full in advance or part payments before receiving the items ordered. In this case because I have been with this opticians for many years depending on the cost I have been known to pay upfront before receiving the items ordered and do not receive prescriptions until the items are collected.
The overall service was disappointing to say the least and my claim was not completed until 30/07/26 and even then I had to go into my account to find that out. A simple email to say my claim was completed and payment would be sent in …… days would have been enough, then I could have go into my account to see the claim details.
Therefore, my first experience was not a happy one.

In line with our terms & conditions, claims cannot be accepted for the purchase of spectacles or contact lenses supplied without prescription, additional information may have been requested for auditing purposes if it was not clear from the receipt that the lenses were issued on prescription.
However, we would be happy to review the details of your claim and advise further if you contact our customer service department. Once a claim is settled, you are notified via your online mypolicy account that the payment has been issued.
