My partner hired a car today. The address to pick up and drop the car was really vague. We couldn’t find the space in the postcode and customer services were so rude and unhelpful, just saying we’d get a PCN if we couldn’t find the space. They should know where their own spaces are to help! No map pin or photos. Anyway the car was in poor condition and we wouldn’t bother again. We’ll stick to zipcar who we’ve always found super responsive and helpful with any issues

For clarity, there is ZERO additional information on where to park the car in the app. We were given the postcode and bay number which probably works fine in a small postcode but not in a large one - we had to walk around for ages looking for the space. Contrary to their response below, customer services had no additional info or help to offer (photos or a map pin for the space), instead he just said it was all perfectly clear and if we didn’t find it we’d get a PCN. Truly the opposite of helpful! Honestly just don’t waste your time with them!

Too expensive try the bigger brands or zip it will work out much cheaper
I needed a car urgently as my car was written off it cost me £137 including admin fee which is £20 which is not mentioned at the beginning and the rental was not even for 2 days and then I was charged £14 for fuel but I filled it up very close to the dropping of point I took pictures of the invoices and let admin know about the faulty gage but still charged for the fuel
I never write reviews but today’s experience was something else. I booked a car through Hiya Car for the first time, and the experience was nothing short of a nightmare. First, I spent 20 minutes trying to start the car, thinking it was an issue with their “quickstart” system. After wasting another 10–15 minutes contacting their support—through chat only because apparently they don’t even have a phone number—I found out the car had a flat battery. Brilliant.
Support then directed me to the next available car, which was a 15-minute walk away. I was already running late for an airport pickup, so I had to take a Lime bike to get there faster. When I finally reached the second car, it wouldn’t even connect to the vehicle’s Bluetooth system. At this point, I was beyond frustrated, repeatedly closing the app and contacting support again to resolve the issue. By the time I could actually drive the car, it had been 45–50 minutes since my initial booking time.
For compensation? They initially offered me a 40-minute extension, which was an insult considering the time wasted and the major inconvenience. Only after further complaining did they offer 45 minutes extra and £15 credit - which I accepted only because of delays and there’s only so much assistance can do if not escalating. Honestly, given the ridiculously high prices they charge (I could rent a Golf R for a similar daily price elsewhere), this “solution” was completely unacceptable.
To top it all off, you’re expected to refuel the car like-for-like, which is something companies like Zipcar include in their pricing.
Overall, this was my first and last time using Hiya Car. The experience was awful—flat batteries, clunky app issues, and poor support. If you value your time and money, stay far away from Hiya Car. I’ll be sticking with Zipcar in the future. Not worth it at all.

Always a smooth transaction from start to finish. The app is very user friendly. A quick and efficient response whenever I’ve messaged Customer Services. Well maintained vehicles and the owners are professional yet friendly and easy to deal with.
I was hiring a car a day before. New years eve originally I had booked a electric car but on the day of the rental. I had a text message from Hi ya cars saying that the battery was very low and the milage was only thirty three miles. So quickly text them back and they managed to sort out a petrol car in under an hour really happy with the service
Had a wonderful experience.
Friendly and helpful van owner, provided a detail instructions on how to drive and recharge the electric van.
Pickup and drop-off were easy.
The van condition was good.
It was my first time using the service, and I wasn’t familiar with the procedure. I completed the return process on the app late, but after contacting live chat, their staff was very helpful. They offered flexible options to help me avoid the late penalty and admin fees.
Second time user of Hiya car. I find it very straightforward to use, easier than car hire companies. Staff were very helpful. Helped me from verification stage up to unlocking the car (first time user of wireless locking), and this was during christmas hols period! Accessed the help via chat so took sometime but I wasn't in a rush so worked for me. I imagined they'd be as helpful on phonelines as well.
Fee can vary greatly depending on what car, location, and price set by the owner. I find the number of cars available to hire a bit misleading. I tried 4 cars but all them declined. It was holiday period so may be understandable. Point being Hiya car is a great alternative to your traditional car hire company with great helpful staff.

I had a great experience with Hiyacar - booking was easy, my car lender was friendly and helpful, and pick-up and drop-off went smoothly - it was a simple and good value way of hiring a car for a few days.

Hiyacar came to my rescue as I left it very late to hire a car on Christmas day. It's website and app is very easy to use and it's customer service via whatsapp is very efficient and responsive.
As a regular customer personally, I would say that they are better than any other hire companies, Especially in London (tower hamlets).
Customer service extremely lovely and friendly!!! they respond within two minutes. They also are very catering to any needs and complications. As a single mother I am grateful that this company is extremely efficient! their rates very cheap and very reliable.
I would recommend them to anyone who is looking to travel around, but may not be able to own a car I would recommend them first!!!! :)
