Plant sent in poor condition and customer service is totally disinterested
I spent £60 on a Monstera bulbasaur tissue culture plant and it was absolutely covered in contamination. There is all kinds of mold and bacteria all over the base of plant, it looked like lettuce that had been left in the fridge for 6 months disgusting - blue green fuzz and black on the base of the plant and red slime all over the roots. I sent very clear pictures of the issues to customer service who completely denied anything was wrong and then went completely silent when asked for an address to return the plant to for a refund. I have been waiting all day for a response regarding returning the plant and it's radio silence.
The GrowTropicals instructions sent with the plant clearly states "Wash all plantlets thoroughly. Agar is sugar rich if even a tiny amount remains, its acts as an all you can eat buffet for mold and bacteria that will kill your plant". So they knew exactly what they were looking at in the photos I sent because they warn about it in their instructions. Tissue culture plants need time to acclimate to the pathogens in the outside world once removed from packaging and this one was already swimming in them in its original packaging. I'm not taking a punt trying to acclimate a a £60 plant already covered in mold that may or may not survive.

GrowTropicals. The only place I will buy my plants. Why? I get notifications to tell me of new plants, restocks and they are very helpful. I have purchased a lot of plants from them, lost a few due to being a new plant mother. I thought I was a very knowledgeable plant mum as I have been a very good herb mum and when I was young we always had plants. With GrowTropicals I’ve been introduced to plants I’ve never seen in my life. I have my favourites Hoya and Monstera, I know you will shout Monstera’s have been firm favourites for years but there is Thai Constellation, Monkey Mask to name a couple. As I have said they are very helpful, their customer service is second to none. Every other company could do with training by them. They are polite and helpful and they never make you feel like you’re wasting their time. Try GrowTropicals you will not be disappointed.

Initially dissatisfied but impressed with customer service

After hearing rave reviews about GrowTropicals and the quality of their plants I made an order. It was well packaged however the soil of one of the plants, a Ficus elastica ‘Belize’, was sodden but I put it down to having been watered before transit. Two days later and the soil was still wet so I inspected the rootball, only to find root rot. I contacted customer service and provided various images of the rootball and rotten roots when requested, but was told there was only a small amount of root rot, and to simply cut away the rotten roots, repot and let them know if the plant declines anymore.
I did as they said and cut away all the rotten roots, which left the plant with quite a small rootball.
While I accept in this situation there isn’t much they can do, I was left disappointed. I expected a healthy plant to arrive but instead was sent a plant in very poor soil which required action to be taken to prevent further damage. This is not what I expected after hearing such excellent feedback, and as a result I am unlikely to order a plant from GrowTropicals again.
UPDATE:
Shortly after writing this review, I received a detailed email from Otto, the director of GrowTropicals. Otto apologised and explained that the customer service team made an error, and should have offered a solution in light of the plants condition. I was subsequently offered full compensation in the form of a new plant or store credit. While initially disappointed, I am really impressed with the quick response, the recognition of the error on their part, and the offer of full compensation. As a result I have changed my review to reflect this, and I would be happy to order from GrowTropicals again, given their commitment to customer satisfaction.

I ordered plants that offered a free Thai Constellation when you spend over £100, which I did. It was confirmed that I was able to have it. Imagine my surprise when it wasn't added. Even though I'd bought over the threshold for a free plant. When I queried the missing Thai Constellation I was told.....actually read the email from Jess @ GrowTropical yourself and see if it makes sense!
"Hi Nigel, Thanks for your message! I’ve added all the plants you requested to your order and sent you the updated invoice. Unfortunately, we don’t have the 'Black Stem' in stock at the moment, but everything else is included. This can be put towards a free Monstera deliciosa 'Thai Constellation', however. If there’s anything else you’d like to add or if you have any questions, just let me know!"

Easter Bank Holiday is upon us and I'm meant to send plants back (at my cost mind you) and they will potentially sit in boxes in a warehouse til Tuesday so four days potentially and that's ok.
I asked for Otto one of the owners to contact me and was told my email had been forwarded on.
With so many other plant companies vying for our business you'd think they would of been more helpful. The cost of living as it is with increased fuel costs etc dropping over £100 on plants is a luxury.

Don't believe the plant reviews!

All of the plant reviews are 5 star-no wonder, as they don't appear to publish anything else! 1 year later and the plant is still limping along- zero new growth.

Early spring order
I’ve bought a few plants from grow tropical where I was disappointed with the packaging resulting in damaged plants. However my concerns were treated with great urgency and respect. Each issue resolved timely with good communication keeping me informed. This last purchase had the plants individually wrapped in cardboard and tightly packed in winter protection and boxed well. I was pleasantly impressed and happy with all my purchases.

Grow Tropicals are an absolute pleasure to buy from. I have found that their plants have always arrived in perfect condition and are so healthy. I only found them at the beginning of January, and I'm so glad that I did.
When I was buying plants from other sellers, I got fed up of
paying good money for low quality plants. Many would arrive damaged or tipped out of their pots, due to being poorly packed.
I love the way Grow Tropicals pack their plants for delivery. Each one is carefully wrapped and if you choose to have the cold weather packing, which isn't expensive, the plants are tucked up well to keep them warm snug and safe, ready for their journey ahead.
Buying from such a good company guarantees quality plants that have been well cared for.
They offer an excellent selection of plants and their prices are good too.

Great selection of plants from grow tropicals
I have purchased quite a few plants over the last month and I have to say I have not been disappointed, delivery was great and the condition that the plants came in was very good. They make sure the journey is as safe as possible for the plants by wrapping them very securely. The winter pack is also so beneficial and I feel it clearly makes a difference for there transportation to new homes .Highly recommend this company.
