I have attempted to verify my organization several times, but unfortunately I have never been able to complete the process successfully.

I contacted support last week and was told that I would receive a response within 72 hours. However, more than 168 hours have now passed, and I still have not received any update.

This is particularly disappointing because the services offered are genuinely useful and could provide significant value to organizations like ours. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and the difficulties surrounding the verification process have made the experience frustrating.

I sincerely hope this issue can be addressed and that a solution can be found soon.

The Goodstack IT support team responded to my reports of difficulty uploading PDF with suggestions that led me to "distill" my PDFs and I now do this for all online submissions.

Goodstack connected my organization with many other resources that are helpful to us. We are now also able to search grants more easily.

Since English is the standard language, there are some aspects that are a little confusing for Japanese non-profit organizations, but the services offered, the ease of procedures, and the clarity of support are all excellent.

Amazing respectful replies.

I applied for a Google Nonprofit Workspace, for which the approval process is facilitated by Goodstack. As I followed the online process, it quickly became apparent that what should be a simple process would be a difficult challenge.

The process was limited to entering the legal ID number for the non-profit and then uploading pdf copies of documents to demonstrate that it is a legit nonprofit. Very quickly it became apparent that this process cannot accommodate new nonprofit organizations. Their list of required documents consists of documents that are not created until several months after the nonprofit legally exists.

Within 24 hours, I was presented with their decision that they could verify the nonprofit but not my association to it. The reason provided was that my email, which was provided by the nonprofit and was in the nonprofit domain was a private email. Here is their formal description:

“…it’s recommended to use an email address that is associated with your nonprofit organization, rather than a personal account.”

I went to their help site to try to clear it up, but it was the same as the original process – upload pdf documents to justify my affiliation. I uploaded a screenshot of our website, showing that I am an employee and that my email is the email for the company. I uploaded a proof of employment document. They rejected every document with this response:

“…we recommend providing the original version of the document.”

A pdf is a copy of a document and not the original. Suffice it to say that after several more rounds of documents, including an email from the founder of the nonprofit, they rejected all the documentation, continuing to state that the pdf documents were not the originals.

Over the past two days, I have received several more rejection emails from Goodstack, even though I have not sent anything further. And in this same timeframe I spun up a Microsoft nonprofit 365 Business account with no issues and informed those in the office who wanted Google that they were out of luck.

The bottom line is this: Goodstack seems like a poorly run organization that relies on AI to do what people should be doing. Many of their responses seem to be the product of a weak AI bot: several sentences that do not seem to fit together and do not explain anything clearly. They do not seem to be capable of intelligently following logical explanations, nor do they have any mechanism available to provide such details. I am sure this process works for most places, but when you are part of the 20% for which this does not work it really sucks.

Goodstack made our nonprofit verification process for Google for Nonprofits clear and straightforward. As a recently registered humanitarian association in Togo, we were unsure our documentation would meet the requirements, but the steps were well explained and the review was handled efficiently. We were approved and now have access to Google Workspace and Ad Grants, which will genuinely help us reach more donors and partners for our work with vulnerable children and families. Highly recommended for nonprofits just starting this kind of process.
