The worst of the worst insurance companies avoid avoid avoid

Don’t touch this company with a barge pole absolutely the worst insurance company ever to deal with they are like detectives when making a claim they want to know

When the last time phone was used
What you were last doing on the when the accident happened
Who had the phone at the time
The last day the phone was
Used
The last number used in the phone
Where you were when the accident happened
Also if you can’t provide Proof Of purchase they turn you away without hesitation I have proof of Ownership and o2 invoices but nothing showing the emei number this company is a scam company nothing but crooks I have paid into this company for four years and then turned away, they have taken my premiums without any proof so why can’t they honour there agreement whatever you do stay well away from this company and from reading other reviews by the time you pay out the excess and postage etc it’s cheaper to have your phone repaired at a shop 100 percent Scam stay well away

Absolute shambles

Absolute shambles. I made a claim through these to repair my phone in November. They eventually sent me the payment portal which did not work as they failed to have the relevant anti fraud security attached, my bank told me this. Once the process was completed I was then to send my phone to MMI Services for repair. I sent my phone on the 9th December and it was received by them on the 11th. I was told 1-5 working days to have the device diagnosed, repaired, tested and returned. I am still yet to receive my phone. When asked where the phone is they tell me to contact the insurance company. I contact the insurance company and no one gets back to me. Very disappointed as I’m now unable to pay any credit cards etc. as I need my phone to authorise and access my accounts!

The bad reviews scared me!

My phone was stolen on Friday and I just received my replacement today on Tuesday. I wasn’t able to contact them over the weekend so once I sent all required documents, I called first thing on Monday and they sent my phone out immediately. Over the weekend I was reading so many bad reviews, scaring myself that they wouldn’t replace my phone but I am very happy with the service I've received. Thought I would write the review to let people know they are a legit company who do pay out.

Very slow

I made a claim on 3rd October and it is now 27th October and apart from a few emails asking for things like receipt which I provided almost instantly, I’ve heard absolutely nothing in regards to my claim. Never experienced anything like it as insurance claims for phones are usually processed very quickly and now regretting choosing this provider.

Worst company and “service”

Worst company and “service”. Avoid them because an unlucky event you will just cause more stress for yourself with them… 1st of September after passing all requirements and paying the excess I got and email that supply team looking to replace my item. I waited till 12th September but no one updated me about my case so I emailed them. Got an automatic reply that they will reply my query in 7 days. Nothing happened until 27th September so I called them. I was on the phone for almost half an hour. the lady figured out that they don’t have iPad to replace mine but she found on the market and they will pay value of that. I think it’s not fair that over the phone she is checking available iPads and say the price for me. I think it should be like they share this searches and send settlement to be reviewed… I tried to ask her couple of questions like : when they would contact me if I don’t call them ?? And if my insurance will be closed automatically because I don’t have any iPads to cover? She couldn’t answer any of my questions because she said this is not relevant to her section… I feel like I was scammed I thought I will avoid stress but actually they just create a lot more. It’s a daylight robbery.

I don’t know anything about my phone

I don’t know anything about my phone, My phone has 9 business days today just for a screen change that can be done in less than 1 hour, no one answers my emails asking for updates on the status of my phone, when they are supposed to have a 24/7 service, on the page where I'm supposed to see the status of my phone's updates, it doesn't say anything, I don't understand what kind of comments this company is, is it going to go to the police and report them and give up my phone as lost?

Sent my Google pixel 7 pro with a broken screen . Quick return. Phone comes back with brown tone screen ? And gets hot when charging !
My phone got sent back again .... comes back fine for 2 weeks . Screen now displaying pixels when opening and battery is getting extremely hot when charging! Or even when using .
Charging hot enough for it to cause a fire!!
Also the camera isnt as high quality as it was .

Went to Carphone warehouse and they advised it's probably not genuine Google parts hence the issues ....
Contacted the company multiple times ... they come out with the same rubbish . MMI never contact me back since I said I want a new phone !

It's worth paying more for the insurance that this s show .
You'll end up with a broken phone or a house fire ! Not that they care!

I wish I googled the reviews of this company before I brought the policy !!

I never write reviews but this one is a dangerous company who don't care as long as they get their £££

Last contact from MMI 23rd August since I requested a brand new phone NOT A REFURBISHED PHONE !

In 3 years made 2 claims. Both times awful experience

Awful experience both times.

First time have provided all the documents via email, GadgetCover said that never received them. Had to chase them and resend again and again and again until I called and yelled at them, suddenly all the documents were found and claim processed. Sent my phone with cracked screen to the third party repair service MMI where they examined phone for over 2 weeks. Had to log in every day to see whats the status as they never keep you up to date. Then replacement phone was sent. Overall it took them over a month.

Second time pretty similar. Had to call them several times, going in circles "Provide your IMEI", "Provide your receipts". I have informed them several times that IMEI is submitted long time ago, no receipt as it is your replacement phone. Had to chase them for around a week and got same answer until I raised my voice and suddenly all the information was found and claim processed. Same story with MMI service, two weeks and no updates. No email answered. They found cracked screen beyond the economical repair and redirected me back to insurer. Insurer offered me amount big enough to get second hand phone and asked if I am ok with it, I said NO. What are the options. Operator answered that there is no options, she can't transfer my call to anyone superior as they are on the meeting (as always). Just stay away. It is not worth it. Never coming back, never will recommend. Crooks

Awful experience

Awful experience. Took weeks to respond then refused to issue me with a new phone despite giving receipt, crime reference report etc. Cancelled immediately.

I have taken a look at your claim for you. On the claim you requested a replacement for an iPhone 14 128GB. However, your policy was insured for an iPhone 12 64GB.
I am unable to see that you contacted our customer service team to update the device on cover at any point which is the reason for the decline. This was explained in the decline confirmation email to yourself.

Does Not Payout through Top Cashback

Not good, In April 2023 I chose not to buy mobile insurance from my phone provider directly and to buy it separately through Top Cashback. Most insurers were around the same price but chose Gadget Cover as they offered slightly more cashback. Insure was bought and tracked by TC but within the last week the claim was 'declined' by Gadget Cover. Top Cashback cannot give any further information as they advise that that they are simply informed that it is declined, Gadget Cover cannot trace the TC claim either. I was due approx £15.00 cashback which although is not a lot, it is more about the principle. I hope I never have to make a claim with this company after reading the reviews on here. WIll not be buying from this company again....AVOID!

I have a had a look into your reference number and I can see this was declined due to being unable to find the completed policy. The conditions of Top Cashback is that the policy is completed and taken out with the company. As we could not find an active policy this is the reason it was declined.

Absolute waste of time this outfit…

Absolute waste of time this outfit don’t waste your money go elsewhere
Submitted a claim 2nd may after getting proof of purchase which has to come from the mobile supplier you can’t send a screenshot or a scanned copy my claim was accepted. .. recieved an email quoting we want to make this quick and easy bla bla .. removed iCloud as requested replied informing gadget cover this has been done .. 13 days later still nothing .. having read some of the replies to other complaints on here don’t come on an say you’ve tried contact me or you’ve passed it on to someone else just go hang your head in Shame that you work for a company that’s got no customer focused values …

Update
So after 2 months I finally got my phone repaired … paid the 100 excess and was told someone would contact me with address to send phone too .. no one bothered so I called them back told them what disgrace there company was bla bla … got email with address to send phone too .. MMI phone repairs were excellent in the time repairing it sent Monday received back Friday like new .. I’ve still cancelled my cover with GADGET COVER/DAVIES GROUP as 2 months to fix a phone is a joke and I would urge anyone looking for phone cover to shop elsewhere unless you want to wait days for reply’s to emails … long waits on phone only to be passed about .. and ask to send every document you have related to yourself and your phone .. save yourself the hassle go elsewhere

I have had a look at your claim and would like to advise on a couple of points. Regarding your proof of purchase in our terms it states 'Evidence of ownership should include the make and model of the gadget. If possible, please
include the serial number of the gadget. This must be in your name, or you must be in possession of a receipt.' This is why our claims team requested another document.
With regards to the removal of iCloud from your device, as of 19/05/23 your device was still showing locked to iCloud. This needs to be removed before they can continue the claim.
I will need to contact our claims department to contact you to progress the claim so I have done this now. They will also raise your complaint if it has not already been done.
I hope this has answered your questions and our apologies for any inconvenience the process has caused you.

They will take your money and device and leave you with nothing

I'm not normally one to complain but this is getting absolutely ridiculous at this point. I have submitted a claim with them on the 23rd of February. After submitting the claim, I had to wait a few days for them to process it and get back to me, which was fine, then they wanted me to pay the excess which I did, after which things have started to slow down. I paid the excess on the 3rd of March, they finally got back to me on the 20th of March and booked a repair service. I sent my device off on the 22nd of March and since then there has been zero communication on their end. They ignore emails. I have called them, and they apologised saying someone must have forgotten to approve it on their end and that it will be sorted ASAP, couple weeks later still zero contact, no device, nothing. This review is being posted on the 10th of May and as of this date I'm still stuck without my device and any contact with them. Not to mention they are still charging me every month for insurance on a device which i don't have... I am regretting that I didn't just go to a competitor that maybe costs more but actually has a fast turnaround rather than waiting months and essentially being scammed out of a device, an excess payment and monthly ‘insurance’ payments. Overall absolutely do not recommend this company to insure any device with. Pay a bit more elsewhere but have the peace of mind of your claim actually being sorted.

Horrendous company

Horrendous company. They outsource the claims. I’ve been waiting over a month (5 weeks) since I put in my claim to get a decision. The same happened the last time I needed to claim. They constantly ask for different evidence to what was originally asked for. Wouldn’t recommend.

0* there really should be -* to give!

I started this claim in October ( my second) I have to prove again for the second time that the phone belongs to me, gifted from my son. I tried to send proof using my network provider but they wont do this because I'm PAYG. My son has the receipt in his name which he provided the first time after spending over an hour for them to answer the phone! They take forever to come back with a standard 'received' email if I email. I'm getting absolutely no where. Still no solid information on where to send my phone. I can believe I've been paying for this service!! What a 0* company!
